Shock as Guardian Journalist is Found Dead in Apartment






Family members and residents have been shocked by the sudden death of a Guardian journalist who was found dead in his room.

It was shock and apprehension as a Guardian Newspapers journalist identified as Gbenga Fakorede was found dead in his apartment at Igando area of Lagos State, yesterday.

The man was said to be hail and hearty before he slept in the night. His close friend, Sulaimon Ogunsakin who reported the incident at the police station in Igando revealed that Fakorede, 50 did not show sign of any sickness prior to his death.

Fakorede was a resident of No 9, Kajola Street, Igando, in Lagos before his sudden death.

Fakorede died in his room. Lagos State police command has described the death as “sudden and unnatural.”

Confirming the incident, command spokesperson, SP Dolapo Badmos said "There was a report that one Gbenga Fakorede about 50 years old, a journalist with the Guardian Newspapers, who hailed from Ekiti State was found dead this morning at about 7.10 am in his room. Case was reported by his friend, one Ogunsakin Sulaimon. Investigation is still in progress."
