Mrs. Mimi Adzape-Orubibi holds a B.Sc Economics from the Prestigious Ahmadu Bello University Zaria, Post Graduate Diploma in Finance and a Master Degree in Business Administration from Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University Bauchi.

The Executive Chairman of BIRS is a member of many professional bodies, among which are:
Chartered Institute of Taxation of Nigeria (CITN)
The Institute of Certified Public Accountants of Nigeria
The Institute of Chartered Economists of Nigeria (ICEN)
Nigerian Institute of Cost and Management Accountants
Institute of Management (NIM)

Mrs. Orubibi has attended several Courses, Seminars and Workshops within and outside Nigeria.
She has worked with the Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS) for many years. Until her appointment as the Executive Chairman, Benue State Internal Revenue Service, she was a senior Manager with the FIRS.

She is a seasoned Tax Expert, A Professional per excellence, A Motivational and Eloquent Speaker with a good Command of English Language. If there is anything in Taxation that she doesn’t know, that thing probably doesn’t exist.

TAMBARI INTERVIEW QUESTIONS AND ANSWERS

Q. What was growing up like
ANS. Growing up was fun being the only girl among two boys. As the last child, I was pampered and loved, though naughty.

Q. Challenges faced in life.
ANS. I try as much as possible to be a goal getter. It becomes very challenging when I am unable to achieve a certain goal within a particular time; especially when it involves other people.

Q. Over the years, what’s your life lessons?
ANS. In everything, patience is very important. This has always being my life lesson.

Q. What were your aspirations growing up?
ANS. I have always desired to be successful especially because of my mum. I wanted to make it large so that I can give her the best that a mother should enjoy from her child. My aspirations were to be a great leader.

Q. What fond child memories do you miss?
ANS. E-One, One-One, Burtar… playing with friends and my brothers is indeed memorable.

Q. Tell us about how your passion for tax collection started and how long have you been in it.
ANS. It started when I was employed at FIRS in January, 2001. I never aspired to be a Tax Assessment Officer. It’s just that in everything I do, I put all my best in it. So, I have been in taxation since 2001 till now and it has been fulfilling.

Q. What is your most cherished gift and who was it from?
ANS. My most cherished gift was a Chaplet (Rosary beads). It was my husband that bought it for me when we were dating, knowing how much I believe in the Catholic faith.

Q. How did you meet your husband?
ANS. Hmmmmmm! My husband and I were colleagues at FIRS. One faithful day, we met at a course, though he was my senior. We exchanged pleasantries and we got talking. The rest is what has come to be MR & MRS ORUBIBI.

Q. What is your most cherished attribute of his?
ANS. My husband is a perfect gentleman. He is so kind and cannot even hurt a fly.

Q. Top 5 on your wish list
ANS. - That I work according to God’s design for me.
- That I don’t mislead people through my actions, especially those who look up to me.
- That my children grow up in the fear of the Lord and be successful in life.
- That I help all those whom I may meet on this journey of life to be better people.
- That I succeed in all my undertakings.

Q. Favourite kind of music on replay
Blues and Naija Hip-Hop.

Q. What is the 1st app you check in the morning/bedtime?
ANS. E-IGR MOBILE APP: I use it to check how much revenue has been collected real-time.

Q. Favourite fashion items
ANS. Shoes and Bags

Q. As a tax expert, what wouldn’t you be caught wearing?
ANS. Anything that will make me look dull and less smart.

Q. Best travel destination and why?
ANS. My best travel destination is Canada. This is because I get to meet with my lovely kids and husband.

Q. How do you relax?
ANS. I relax better at home, watching Zee-World or Telemundo

ANS. Pounded Yam with Pocho Soup

Q. Favourite fashion designer
ANS. Gucci, Versace

Q. Mum’s advice that stuck with you
ANS. My mum will always tell me to work hard to achieve set goals: “short cuts are dangerous!”

Q. Favourite sport, colour and weather
ANS. My favourite sport is swimming. I love Gold, Purple, pink

Q. Favourite day of the week and why?
ANS. My favourite day of the week is Monday; because I get to do what I love doing most: work…

ANS. Doing my hair and nails

Q. Life achievement
ANS. I thank God for where I am today. I think the best I can ever say I have achieved is helping others to be successful in life.

Q. Role models
ANS. My role model is the Blessed Virgin Mary and my dear Mum who was always there for me. She was a courageous woman, very dedicated and intellectually sound.

Q. Looking back, what would you tell a younger you?
ANS. A lot of water has passed under the bridge. I have made mistakes as a younger person growing up. But with the help of God I am who I am today.

Q. Tell us about your private business. If any?
ANS. Right from childhood, I have been an enterprising person. I have been passively involved in one or two businesses and they have been successful.
