NBA Makurdi branch kicks as Armed Security operatives arrest Benue legal practitioner.

Makurdi branch of the Nigeria Bar Association (NBA) has condemned in it totality the invasion and arrest of one of their members, Barr. Terfa Jirgba by suspected armed security operatives that stormed his residence in Makurdi the state capital.


Addressing a news conference at NUJ House Makurdi, the branch chairman, Barr. Emmanuel Agbako, noted that Jirgba was not invited or served with a search warrant and therefore, the invasion of his privacy by either security agents or kidnappers who stormed his residence in six trucks at the Badagry Street high level Makurdi is the most crude way in this civilized time.

He called on the Benue State Government to ensure the safety of all citizens and members of NUJ to expose impunity by writing against such acts even as he said NBA is not resting until their member regains freedom.

It was gathered that during the invasion, a student of Benue State University, Makurdi and one other was arrested and taken to yet to be known place as the security agents are denying knowledge of the arrest.

It was further gathered that the arrest of Barr. Jirgba might not be in connection with his position as a legal counsel to the wanted militia Mr. Terwase Akwaza alias 'Ghana' at whose instance soldiers last Saturday invaded Gbishe community in Katsina -Ala local government area during which houses were alleged to have been destroyed.

The NUJ chairman, in his response expressed worry over arrest or spate of kidnap and pledged the resolve of members to publicize the position of NBA and call on security agents to act fast to know the fate of the victim.
