Again Gov Ortom accuses Suswam of spending $24million Paris club refund.
Benue State Governor, Samuel Ortom, has announced that his administration will probe the expenditure of $24 million the previous administration made from Paris and London Club refund which it received.
Governor Ortom made the announcement today during a thanksgiving mass and bazaar at Saint Rita's Quasi Mission, Agber, in Makurdi.
He said the immediate past administration received the amount as part of the money refunded to the state from the Paris and London Clubs over deductions without informing the people.
The Governor explained that the money which has not been accounted for has however, been traced to a United Bank for Africa, UBA, bank account and assured that a probe would be launched to find out what happened to it.
While reiterating his commitment to the provision of critical infrastructure to the people of the state in spite of the current economic challenges, Governor Ortom promised that the road linking Agber Village to the rest of the metropolis would be captured in next year's budget for construction.
The Governor also assured that curvets and drainage channels would be constructed to solve the problem of perennial flooding confronting the people of the area
Earlier, parish priest, Very Reverend Father Anthony Akaatenger, appealed to the Governor to construct the two major drainage channels in the area before the beginning of the next rainy season to save the people from flooding.
Father Akaatenger lauded the stance of the Governor to collaborate with President Muhammadu Buhari to fight corruption and prayed God to grant them the grace to succeed in the task of governing Benue and Nigeria.
Also speaking, retired permanent secretary and former governorship aspirant, Chief Akange Audu, who is a resident of the area and parishioner, thanked the Governor for worshipping with the community and urged him to remain resolute in the face of economic hardship.
