Opinion: Very much unlike a Professor, those words aimed at Tubaba......
Being intolerant to perspectives that do not align with one's take on a matter, is for me, a clearer trait of illiteracy than the flirtatious indiscretion of a handsome rich guy wanted by almost every girl.
Increasingly, decent examples of how to argue or present our different perspectives devoid of pettiness and insults, are getting rarer. The propensity to let go of the issue and get personal seems to be the trendy path to tow.
Very many times i find myself against the position some people take on issues and yet i am more appalled , not by that position that i also disagree with, but by the insult laced rejoinders of those who, like me, do not buy the originating position but who, in their act of expressing a contrary view, make conscientious effort to rid the engagement of all decency and respect and recede into a corner respecter of emotions and insults.
Sadly, the habit is nurtured and preserved by those not so discerning minds who, while in readership of such nonsense, are moved to applaud, hail, like and share the thrash.
While arguing - and please, i am no model myself - i do not find more strength nor more conviction in my position by the mere fact that someone else who holds the same opinion with me on a matter, has joined the exchange but their contribution is to insult the person or persons i am arguing with.
It doesn't enrich the debate but it's a familiar path for small minds who are unsure of lasting the mileage of an engagement that might require being rational.
The resort to insults becomes default mode. The dearth of emotional intelligence and the triumph of verbal grenades, this phase.
