Gov Ortom finally inaugurates State Economic Team

Benue economic Team

Governor Samuel Ortom today inaugurated the Benue State Economic Team with a charge on members to constitute an economic compass to guide the administration towards realising its vision for a new Benue.
Governor Ortom performed the ceremony at the Old Banquet Hall of the Benue Peoples House, Makurdi.

He enumerated terms of reference for the 32-member Economic Team which included reporting to him or the State Executive Council, the viability of planned projects and programmes including those on private partnership, interacting with potential investors, providing technical expertise on overall direction of the state economy and coordinating the economic thinking of government.

The Governor urged members of the team to avoid signing contracts or Memorandum of Understanding on behalf of Government, reminding them that their role is strictly advisory.

While congratulating them on their inauguration, Governor Ortom urged them to see their nomination as a call to service, charging them to be transparent and diligent as there are no sacred cows in his administration.

Responding on behalf of members, Chairman of the State Economic Team, Professor Denis Ityavyar, said they had taken note of the charge given them by the Governor and promised to be committed to duty in order to justify the confidence reposed in them.

Professor Ityavyar who is also the Commissioner of Education, Science and Technology, expressed gratitude to the Governor for finding them worthy to serve in that capacity.
