Tragedy as Plane Carrying 44 People Aboard Crashes Into Runway







A plane carrying 44 people has crashed into a runway as it came in to land in South Sudan leaving many people injured at Wau Airport.Early reports suggested that passengers on board were killed after the incident at 3pm local time.
But this was later ruled out – with several confirmed injuries on the South Supreme Airlines flight.According to Daily Star UK reports, A radio station in Juba reported some people have been pulled out alive and rushed to hospital.

A local official said the plane was coming from the South Sudan capital.
Firefighters tried to save the jet before a huge fire engulfed it.
Pictures showed a huge crowd surrounding the smouldering wreck.
Witnesses said smoke was seen pouring from the back of the plane as it came in to land on the runway.
It then crashed and bursted into flames.

Eye Radio reporter Deng Dimo said: “The plane was blowing smoke from the tail before it crashed.
“But when it touched the ground, it immediately burst into a huge flame.”
He added: “About 17 to 18 people injured in the incident were taken to hospital.”
An aid worker near the scene of the crash claimed the crash was not as bad as first thought.
He said: “No one died but there are a number of injured people right now.”
South Supreme Airlines began operating in September 2013.
