It’s unfair to call me a playboy – Ahmed Mazloum
Ahmed Mazloum is an unusual person who has done many great unusual things. If it is not unusual for a man with millions in his bank account to embark on no other adventure than to want to be at the peak of Mount Kilimanjaro, just for kicks, then ‘unusual’ has lost its full meaning.
Because that is what Mr Mazloum, as he is called in some quarters, has always wanted to do, and the Lebanese Nigerian man (he carries passports of both countries) did just that – conquered the Kilmanjaro!
Many would have thought him crazy but to Mr Mazloum, who is more like Mr Kilmanjaro, calls himself an adrenaline junkie because he goes after things that get his blood racing with excitement.
As the Managing Director of Unitop International Limited, a company that renders marine services and civil construction and Executive Director of Unitop Catering Services Limited, one would have expected him to be a straight-jacket, square kind of person but not this Lebanese man who grew up in Warri, speaking so fluently the ‘Waffi’ kind of English.
He is not just your tie-knotting, plum, can’t-do-no-wrong chief executive who lives life against the traffic. He is an uncommon regular guy who lives life at the edge and savours every moment of it with candour.
Another unusual thing about this Chief Executive is his style of fashion. On his very active Instagram page, he is known as a fashion influencer, promoting African fashion with Western flair and prescribing it to his followers at no cost. How unusual.
In the world of entertainment, Mr Kilimanjaro, is as popular as the next Nigerian superstar. Jim Iyke, Kate Henshaw, Falz, Iyanya, name it, they have all crossed his path because he is never too far away from the sight and sound of the make-believe world. In fact, his company has sponsored a couple of entertainment shows like the ‘Warri Again’ show and it wouldn’t come as a big shock if his next business move is to invest in entertainment.
With all his money, good looks, influence and drive, Mr Kilmanjaro is single. Not that he couldn’t have his pick of any woman he wants, he is never one coy with the ladies as he has been seen with many beauties you would think just stepped out of some magazine.
In fact when he posted on his Instagram page that, “It is better to wait long than marry wrong”, it was like a distress call to the ladies as they came barging in on him with all sorts of romantic entreaties. A couple of them even proposed. One look at him, would get you thinking is one on sampling spree to find his bride. Is he another playboy on the loose, claiming victim after victim?
“To call me a ladies man is a bit too extreme. I am an open person, fun-loving and I like the opposite sex very much but don’t get me wrong. I can also be a good boy when I am with the right girl. The ladies like me and I like them back, until I get married. To call me a playboy is unfair to me. Yes, I appreciate women but I’m nothing but a guy who appreciates what he sees and knows what he likes. I don’t play girls. Playboys do that. In fact, I am honest to a fault when it comes to girls,” he said, in response to Potpourri’s query on whether he’s a playboy or not.
And one ex beauty queen and actress, Ronke Tiamiyu seems to agree with him as a post on her Instagram page to the Warri-Lebanese-Nigerian man on his birthday reads; “ Happy birthday darling @mrmazloum, husband material one million yards. I wish you all the best in life, have fun and enjoy your day, it’s sad I’m not there to party with you.”
