Nigeria Will Overcome Terrorism Challenge -President Jonathan

GOODLUCK JONATHAN

President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan has urged all Nigerians to remain calm following yesterday’s bomb explosion that rocked the headquarters of the Nigeria Police Force in Abuja, assuring that he has been meeting with the heads of the nation’s security forces to ensure that such incidents become a thing of the past in the country.
He stated this today while addressing newsmen shortly after assessing the scene of the carnage and seeing things for himself inside the premises of the Police Force Headquarters in Abuja.
President Jonathan, who expressed sadness at the incident, also commiserated with families of the victims, saying he was optimistic that the nation would overcome the ugly trend.
He said such dastardly terrorist attacks are a global phenomenon not peculiar to Nigeria alone, pointing out that “all over the world, nobody is free.”
He said the terrorist act should not be viewed as an attack on the police, but on the entire nation, saying “everybody is a target when it comes to terrorist attacks.”
He however assured Nigerians that his government is on top of the situation, and that the nation will surely surmount the security challenge.
The president was given a graphic account of the bomb explosion by Police IG, Afiz Ringim, and shown around the scene where forensic experts were seen conducting investigations.
