Miss World 2011: The 61st Queen Will Be Crowned On November 6!
It doesn’t happen very often but two grand slam pageants – Miss World 2011 and Miss International 2011 – will have its finals on the same date this year – November 6. Only the time zone difference will matter as Miss World 2011 will be crowned several hours after Miss International 2011 has already been announced.
The venue of the coronation night is Earl’s Court in London. And more than one hundred candidates will spend their first week in Dubai, UAE (where they just arrived over the weekend) before flying as a big group to England a few days from now in time for the various fast-track events that will automatically seed its winners to the semifinals, plus the Miss World Charity Dinner and World Family Party on October 31 where the Beauty with a Purpose mission of the organization will get centerstage attraction.
The first Miss World event was created by Eric Morley in 1951 as part of his promotion of the Festival of Britain, which took place on the South Bank of the River Thames. Miss World is approaching its 60th birthday and wants to celebrate with a very special party by returning to where it all began on London’s South Bank. The special event will feature winners from the past and present, and we will be re-living some of the special moments and star names that have been a part of our 60 year history. According to the organisers celebrations will take contestants across the United Kingdom in the run-up to the final, to be held in London on Sunday 6th November 2011.
There are about 122 representatives to participate in this years Miss World.
Meanwhile Nigeria's representative and MBGN 2011 Miss Sylvia Nduka is among those competing for the crown.
