NAWOJ Abuja Chapter Honours FCT Ministers Wife .





Wife of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Minister, Hajia Aisha Bala Mohammed, and his Senior Special Assistant, Hajia Jamilah Tangaza have received 'Meritorious Service' and 'Excellence in Achievement' awards from the Nigeria Association of Women Journalists (NAWOJ), FCT branch.
The event was held recently at the Police Officers Wives Association (POWA) Secretariat in Asokoro District, Abuja as part of NAWOJ Week Lecture/Awards.
Other notable Nigerians honoured at the occasion include the Information Minister, Mr. Labaran Maku, the Comptroller General of Customs, Alhaji Inde Dikko Abdullahi, as well as Rear Admiral Itunu Hotonu, apart from four other corporate and Non-Governmental Organisations.
In her goodwill message, Mohammed thanked the organisers for the honour given to her and called on well-meaning Nigerians and corporate organisations in the country to always come to the aid of the needy in the society.
She also commended the work by her Non-Governmental Organisation, Al-Muhibba Foundation, particularly the rehabilitation, reformation and modernisation of existing Muslim and Christian cemeteries in the FCT.
She reiterated that her foundation within its short period of existence has also been able to collaborate with the National Directorate of Employment (NDE) and has trained over 300 women and youth in skill acquisition training.
She dedicated the award to the First Lady, Dame Patience Jonathan, whom she described as a catalyst and an inspiration in the global campaign for support and care towards vulnerable groups.
Also, Senior Special Assistant to the FCT Minister on Information Management System, Tangaza paid tribute to the founding members of NAWOJ and appreciated her recognition.
She recalled her memorable experience in the journalism profession which spans over two decades and praised women journalists in Nigeria for being able to perform creditable despite the harsh condition.
