Gov. Suswam Presents N98bn Budget To Benue State House Of Assembly.



Governor Gabriel Suswam of Benue State on Tuesday presented a budget estimate of N98,545,599,853 to the State House of Assembly.
The budget decreases by N10bn, which represents 11.63 per cent, when compared to the 2014 budget. 




Presenting the budget to the Assembly in Makurdi, the governor said the budget was made up of N52,827,072,284 recurrent estimate while N45,718,527,569 was for capital estimate.

He said the budget would focus on payment of pensions and gratuity as well as ensure the completion of ongoing projects and ensure a gradual transition of the present administration and smooth take-off of the incoming administration.

He said, “Through this budget, we are responding to series of challenges, which include accelerating inclusive growth and development in the face of challenges in both the domestic and external environment; investing in key infrastructure such as road, water, education and health as the foundational base for sustainable growth and development; and renewing our commitment to progressively deliver on our constitutional mandate of securing the lives and property of our people in both the urban and rural areas.”

The governor added that agricultural development would also receive adequate attention in order to improve on employment and income generation.

According to him, the projection will be based on the revenue sharing formula if it remains unchanged as well as block all leakages to ensure remittance to the state purse.

He said, “I must place on record that the achievements we recorded are undoubtedly as a result of hard work, commitment of our team but more importantly, due to the unparalleled cooperation, joint commitment and goodwill being shared among the three arms of government to the affairs of our dear state.”
