A former governor of Benue State, Senator George Akume has counseled his successor, Gabriel Suswam to repent of his sins and beg God for forgiveness.

Chief Samuel Ortom Reject Moves By Gov Suswam To Recruit Workers & Appoint First Class Chiefs In Benue State.

Benue State Governor-elect, Dr. Samuel Ortom has rejected moves by the incumbent Governor, Dr. Gabriel Suswam to recruit civil servants and  impose 10 first class chiefs on pats of the state before the May 29 handing over date.

Suswam Promises Not To Undermine Ortom’s Administration.

Gov Gabriel Suswam said the PDP in the state would avoid acts that would undermine the incoming administration of Dr Samuel Ortom. Suswam made this known when he received Ortom in his office in Makurdi on Monday. He said as a party, they had resolved not to challenge the outcome of the elections at the tribunal even though they had misgivings in the manner the elections were held. 



“PDP will not go to the tribunal to challenge the outcome of this election, because we do not want your government to be distracted by election petitions,’’ he said. The governor said party contest was not war but a game whose outcome should be accepted by participants.
Suswam said the verdict was the will of the people and should be respected by all. He pledged the support of the PDP in ensuring the success of the incoming administration. The governor assured that he would involve the incoming governor in all decisions to keep him abreast of happenings in government.

Earlier, Ortom commended the governor for his contributions in nation building, and said he would devout his first 100 days in office to pursue reconciliation, forgiveness and peace in the state. He said reconciliation was needed to attract investments and navigate the state to economic prosperity.
Ortom said his victory came to him like a dream, stressing that in the past, elections in the state were viewed as “do or die affair’’. -

It all started in 2011 when the Nigerian Labour Congress (NLC) rose up to demand for an upgrade of civil servants salaries nationwide to the tune of at least 18%, popularly known as 18% minimum wage increase.

I use to see these Bats when i was working in Govt House makurdi,they come out in thousands around 6pm and return back early hours of the money,usually scary.
