Benue Gov Elect Dr Samuel Ortom Seeks FG Intervention To Tackle Agric,Insecurity And Unemployment.
Benue State Governor-elect, Chief Dr Samuel Ortom today sought the intervention of the Federal Government to boost investment in agriculture, curb insecurity and create jobs and wealth.
He spoke when a delegation of Benue All Progressives Congress, APC, stakeholders paid a courtesy call on the President-elect, General Muhammadu Buhari at the Defence House in Abuja this afternoon.
Chief Dr Ortom said the state required federal might to sort out the issues even as he appealed for the dredging of River Benue and also drew attention to the plight of ex - service men who he said have been neglected.
The former Minister of State, Industry, Trade, and Investment solicited the support of General Buhari for the emergence of Senator Dr George Akume as the Senate President stressing that in developed democracies leaders who demonstrate capacity like Senator Akume are allowed to grow.
Earlier Senator Akume had characterized General Buhari as a man of integrity who had been tried and tasted by Nigerians and had demonstrated capacity to deliver.
In his vote of thanks Chief Audu Ogbeh said APC victory at the polls nationwide was a miracle of God.
In his remarks the President-elect said he would make security and job creation his priorities.
He commended Britain and the United States of America for the support they gave the democratic process which proved prophets of doom wrong adding that technology also aided transparent polls.
General Buhari expressed appreciation for the visit.
