Abuja Residents Want Men To Assist With Household Chores!

You may imagine that a man who is adept at housework would be attractive to woman.
But sociologists claim that mopping the kitchen and washing up dishes won’t help men get lucky in the bedroom - with middle-aged women at least.
A study has found that men who regularly do housework, such as cooking and cleaning, have less sex than men who don’t bother.
use chores to engender more understanding and love between couples.

Some Abuja residents on Monday called on men to assist in house chores to engender more understanding and love between couples.
The respondents, who shared their views with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), said the burden on women would be greatly reduced if men could help out.
Mrs Chineye Udoka, a civil servant, told NAN that the house chores would definitely reduce if the men assist in house chores.Continue to read more..

``Women are encouraged when men help them with chores; sometimes it can get frustrating when the work in the house is just there for you alone to do.
``Apart from reducing the house chores, it also builds confidence and the women will know that they have supporting husbands,’’ Udoka said.
According to Miss Rita Nwakolo, an unemployed graduate, it is encouraging when you see fathers helping in the home.
``In the African tradition, women are seen as the owners of the kitchen while men provide the money for the expenses.
``But we the youths feel inspired when we see our fathers taking charge of some of the house chores.
``As a lady, I’m motivated and hopefully someday, I will get married to a man who can support me in household tasks,’’ Nwakolo said.
Mrs Anne Jemide, a civil servant, said she strongly believed that men should also be able to handle household chores.
``It is a very wrong notion that people believe that household chores should be left to the women; I believe that every child, whether a boy or girl should be able to cook and clean.
``My first child is a six-year-old boy; he sweeps and mops the house for me. All my children will learn household chores because no one knows the future.
``It is essential to be conversant with things like this; my husband has three brothers and they all know how to cook very well.
``When I was pregnant, I had no problem because my husband is very good at going to shop and cooking a very good meal,’’ Jemide said.
Mr Eugene Marshal, a psychologist, told NAN that men who helped with house chores were usually able to keep a home peaceful.
``Any woman will feel satisfied with a man who knows when to take out the trash, because it means he is sensitive enough, which lightens her burden of taking care of the house all alone.
``A man who assists in the home is definitely not a complainer because he shares in the home chores and knows how stressful it is.
``It creates a mutual understanding and overall peace,’’ Marshal concluded.
Hajiya Khadijah Nasiru, a trader in lace materials who sells her wares from her shop inside her home in Maitama, advised men to inculcate the habit of helping in household chores in their families.
``Men who are in the habit of helping with house chores are building disciplined homes and caring generations.
``I have seen this trait in my grandchildren; they all are hard working especially the boys; they don’t complain when given chores to do.
``Whenever I visit my son and his family, I watch as he helps his wife in cleaning and cooking and his children watch him and also assist.
``This makes me proud to be a grandmother and it assures me that the generations to come will not miss out on these good morals,’’ Nasiru pointed out.
Mr Joseph Nkemdiniru, a retired Police officer, said it was good for men to assist in house chores to minimise the necessity for the wife to employ the services of any security threat.
``If a man is always there to assist in household tasks, the wife will not have a need to bring anyone from outside to work for her.
``One needs to be careful with people you bring in to work in the house because you do not really know those you employ to work in your home,’’ Nkemdiniru said.
