Airforce Wants Gov. Ortom To Commence Commercial Flights.
Air Officer Commanding (AOC) the Nigerian Airforce (NAF) Tactical Air Command in Benue State, Rufus Adeniyi Ojuawo has called on the state government to explore the possibilities of commercial flight operations between Makurdi and Abuja.
Daily Trust reports that the immediate past administration in the state gave approval to Overland Airline to commence airlift of passengers from Makurdi to Abuja, three times a week.
The Gabriel Suswam's led government pegged the initial cost of a flight ticket per passenger at N18, 000, while the government opted to augment other monetary involvements to ensure a successful operation of air transport in the state.
But that arrangement never saw the light of the day, just as some airlines had packed up in the past due to high operational cost and non-availability of passengers.
However, Air Marshal Ojuawo on Monday, during a familiarisation visit to Governor Samuel Ortom requested him to explore the possibilities to commence flight operations from Abuja to Makurdi, at least three times in a week.
