FCT Natives Urge Buhari To Investigate Abuja Land Deals.

Original inhabitants of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) mostly from Dagbalo, a community in Apo, Abuja Municipal Area Council (AMAC) have urged President Muhammadu Buhari to use the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) to investigate land allocations especially those which Certificates of Occupancy were hurriedly approved.
The natives also called on the Buhari administration to investigate the activities of some officials of the Federal Capital Development Authority (FCDA).

Speaking through their leader at the weekend, Rev. Danjuma Tanko insisted that the investigation on what he described as the nefarious activities of FCDA officials would help in healing the wounds suffered by Abuja original inhabitants.

Rev. Tanko alleged that the past Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Sen. Bala Mohammed, allegedly subjected the natives to untold hardship and all manners of inhumane treatment.

According to him, FCTA through the department of Resettlement and Compensation on July 30, 2013 demolished the entire Dagbalo community without resettling or compensating them.

“It took the FCDA officials, led by the director of Resettlement and Compensation, Mr Francis Okechuckwu five days, in the company of armed military personnel to wipe off our entire community,” he said, adding that the same area has since been allocated to someone.

“We are appealing to President Muhammadu Buhari, who we see as an act of God to liberate us from our suffering, through his anti-corruption campaign to investigate the nefarious activities of the FCDA and the way they are subjecting indigenes of the FCT to immeasurable suffering by forcefully confiscating their land without due compensation and resettlement,” he said.
