Dokpesi To Be Moved To Kuje Prisons Pending Bail Perfection.
Embattled founder of Daar Communications, owners of Raypower FM, AIT and Faaji FM, High Chief Raymond Aleogho Dokpesi, was today granted bail by Justice Gabriel Kolawole of the Federal High Court, Abuja. Dokpesi, who is standing trial for alleged money laundering, will however be moved to Kuje Prisons (from the EFCC office in Abuja) where he had been for days now pending the perfection of his bail conditions.
According to Justice Kolawole, Dokpesi will deposit his international passport with the Court Registrar; he will also provide two tax-worthy sureties with N200 million, etc.
He must, however, not be re-arrested by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission. Again, whenever he is needed, the EFCC should notify his counsel who will make him available between the hours of 10 and 6pm.
The case, meanwhile, has been adjourned to February 2nd, 2015.
The media mogul’s name, it would be recalled, cropped up in the mind boggling Dasukigate. He was alleged to have collected N2.1 billion from the detained former National Security Adviser, Col. Sambo Dasuki, rtd. This was part of the $2.2 billion arms procurement money for which Dasuki is currently being investigated.
Dokpesi, of course, has since supplied his own side of the story. According to him, the money he got from Dasuki was for media work done for the People’s Democratic Party which just got ousted from power by the All Progressives Congress.
