Wee’ Farmers Demand Recognition On Farmers Day.

Growers and sellers of marijuana have called on government to recognize their efforts during the National Farmers Day celebration slated for Friday December 4, 2015.The farmers, who boldly describe themselves as ‘wee farmers’ say public recognition of their efforts will enable them work more efficiently, like other farmers.

A farmer who spoke to Adom News said lack of farming equipment is hampering their work, and an open acknowledgement of their efforts would make life easier for them. The National Farmers Day is commemorated each year on the first Friday of December to honour Farmers and Fishers in the country.Open gatherings are organized in the ten regions across Ghana to award prizes to deserving farmers and fishers based on best practices and output.

This year's National Farmers Day Celebration will be held in the Upper East Regional capital Bolga.

Meanwhile, failed presidential National Democratic Congress (NDC) candidate George Boateng believes the demand by the wee farmers is a good call.
George Boateng says marijuana cultivation is one aspect of agriculture which can generate more money for the country; therefore government should pay attention to the farmers who produce marijuana and give them a boost.
According to him legalizing marijuana will help generate revenue.
