FCT Minister Vows To Retrieve All Government Lands In Abuja

FCT Minister Mohmmed Musa Bello

The FCT Administration has vowed that any government landed property illegally encroached upon by any person or corporate organization would be retrieved by the government.
FCT Minister, Malam Muhammad Musa Bello disclosed this during an unscheduled visit to the Abuja Environmental Protection Board (AEPB) Dump Site in Gosa, Sewer Treatment Plant, Wupa and the proposed Waste Transfer Station at Mpape.

He said such land would have to be retrieved and returned to the government for its original uses in line with the Abuja Master Plan.

“Any government property or government land encroached in Abuja will be taking back and given to the government and that is the easiest of our jobs because it’s government that gives people land. If somebody encroaches on government land, it’s very easy for government to take back its land because nobody can take government’s land and get away with it,” he said.

To ensure that liquid and solid wastes are well managed and disposed off in the city, the minister revealed that all the departments of the Abuja Environmental Protection Board would be strengthened.

To achieve this, he said massive staff changes will be carried out so that the Board would be geared towards doing the needful. s

He decried that the small office block at the proposed Waste Transfer Station in Maitama which he said does not have the capacity to serve as a sorting centre for the entire city.

…Commences Road Rehabilitation

To ensure smooth vehicular movement in and around the Federal Capital City, Abuja, the FCT Administration has commenced the immediate rehabilitation of some strategic roads within the City Centre. Some of the roads under the first phase of the programme include the total rehabilitation of M20, the hitherto dilapidated road leading to the popular Utako Motor Park; rehabilitation of road shoulders along the Shehu Shagari Way in Maitama District and Ring Road I (Nnamdi Azikiwe Expressway) respectively.

Speaking on his plans to ensure a clean and filth free city, FCT Minister, Malam Muhammad Musa Bello insisted that Abuja under his watch must be restored to its original clean and green concept. Bello said that he has the mandate President Muhammadu Buhari to restore Abuja to its original Master Plan in line with the vision of its founding fathers.
