FG To Deploy More Troops To Enforce Peace In Agatu Communities Affected By The Recent Crisis.



The Nigerian military is to deploy more troops to enforce peace in Agatu communities affected by the recent crisis between the herdsmen and farmers in the area which led to the loss of many lives and destruction of properties,this is coming on the request of the Benue State Governor, Samuel Ortom  to President Muhammadu Buhari to send troops to forestall peace in the area.

Ortom commended  the President's prompt response which will prevent further bloodshed and usher in the desired peace to Agatu.
Gov Ortom said  the visit of the Inspector-General of Police to Benue is part of the roadmap to peace in Agatu as mobile policemen have already been deployed to the crisis communities.
While appealing  to the people of the affected areas to remain calm ,he urged them to corporate with the army as the troops commence patrols within and around their communities.

The Governor also directed the Benue State Emergency Management Agency, SEMA, to intensify intervention through the provision of relief materials to the displaced persons' camps. According to the Governor, the State Government has released funds in collaboration with the National Emergency Management Agency, NEMA, to support victims of the crisis.

Governor Ortom further sympathized  with every family affected by the crisis and assured them that the Benue State Government will continue to stand by them in their time of grief. He called on relevant agencies, individuals and groups to complement the State Government's efforts in bringing relief to victims of the crisis.

The Governor reemphasized the commitment of the Benue State Government to finding a lasting solution to clashes between herdsmen and farmers in the state.
