Makurdi Magistrate Court Remands Man For Killing His Girlfriend, And Lover.

Man remanded for killing girlfriend, and lover

A Makurdi Chief Magistrate’s Court has remanded a 28-year-old man Terhemba Ajom in prison for alleged murder of his girlfriend Ladi Terzungwe and her lover Shimasaan Nehemen.

Terhemba Ajom of Konshisha local government area of Benue state who was arraigned for culpable homicide punishable with death, was charged alongside 19-year-old Jennifer Ahangba of Vandeikya LGA who allegedly conspired to commit the offence.
Prosecution told the court that one Terzungwe Nehemen of ‘beside Grade One Area Court, Vandeikya’ reported the matter to the Police on January 17 this year that while in his room, he heard his younger brother Shimasaan crying for help.

The court also heard that when the complainant rushed out, he discovered that the victim’s house was on fire and he called out to his neighbours who found that the brother and his girlfriend had been burnt to death.

The prosecution explained further that police investigation discovered that the second accused had informed the first accused that his girlfriend was with another man. The court heard that following the information, the first accused had come at night with a gallon of petrol and lighter and set fire to the house in which his girlfriend and another man were killing both of them.

When the case came up, no plea was taken for want of jurisdiction as prosecution told the court that investigation was still on and asked for another date.
The Chief Magistrate, Mrs. Theresa Wergba therefore ordered the accused to be remanded at the Federal Prisons, Makurdi and adjourned the case to March 7.
