Governor Governor says Bishop Usuh who became the first indigenous Bishop of Makurdi Catholic Diocese in 1989, has contributed in many significant ways to develop and expand the church in the state. He says the people of Guma local government area in particular will remember Bishop Usuh for the establishment of St. Augustine's Catholic Church, Gbajimba which the late Bishop single-handedly made possible.

The Governor describes Bishop Usuh whose personal motto was 'Lord I am not worthy' as a humble servant of God who led the Church with utmost humility and selflessness winning many souls for Jesus Christ.

According to him, the leadership of the Diocese under Bishop Usuh witnessed phenomenal growth of the Church in this part of the country leading to the creation of Otukpo, Lafia, Gboko and Katsina-Ala Dioceses.
