How gunmen murdered varsity lecturer, LG Chairman aspirant in Benue.

A senior lecturer in the Department of Political Science, University of Mkar, Benue state, Aondosoo Tondo, on Thursday, was shot dead by four gunmen.
According to a report by Punch, the lecturer was killed in his apartment in the University quarters, after he was trailed from his office by the gunmen.



Public Relations Officer of the University, Dr. Suemo Shaagba, who confirmed Aondosoo’s death, said the gunmen followed the deceased to his room and shot him.

He added that nothing was taken from him and even from the house and no demand was made.

He said, “On his way home, gunmen followed him until he got to his house where they opened fire on him and thereafter, we took him to a nearby hospital close to the University before we finally moved him to Benue State University Teaching Hospital where doctors also confirmed him dead.”

Dr. Shaagba said Tondo was an active politician and currently a Chairmanship aspirant for Buruku local government area under the platform of All Progressive Congress’ APC and alleged that his political opponents could be after his life.

The Benue State Command Police Public Relations Officer, ASP Moses Yamu also confirmed the dead of the lecturer.

He said, ”yes, I can confirmed that a senior lecturer at the University of Mkar was gruesomely murdered in his compound at the early hours of today by unknown gunmen and we have commence immediate investigation into the killing of the Mr. Lecturer”.
