In Benue ,54 persons renounce cultism before the Police Commissioner.



Led by the group, Campus Cultism Eradication Foundation Mr Ejembi, 54 boys and girls from different institutions across the state, who denounced Cultism were this morning received by the Benue State Commissioner of Police, Bashir Dabu Makama. This is in the commissioner's efforts to tackle the lingering problem of crime and particularly cultism within Makurdi the Benue State capital.







Performed at the Police Officers Mess, the interactive session was attended by various heads of tertiary institutions in the state, who deliberated effectively on how to tackle the menace of campus cultism in their institutions.

The commissioner of police who is just 2 weeks in office in the state maintained that he was ready to accept any cultist who renounced and came forward to submit to relevant authorities. He maintained that no stone was going to be left unturned in making the state crime free.

Speaking on behalf of renouncers, Helen Ibrahim of Benue State University and Samson Adaga of University of Agriculture maintained that they had become fed up with the activities of cult groups and wanted to opt out, they decried that most members wanted to pull out but were afraid of the aftermath. They urged their schools to guarantee their safety even as they will partner with relevant authorities to reduce the social vice to barest minimum.

Speaking after the meeting, the founder, Campus Cultism Eradication Foundation noted the advantages of the organization to include; to create awareness on the negative nature of cultism, to expose the hidden tactics used by cultists in perpetuating crime, to partner with relevant security operatives to bring cultists to justice, to ensure cultism-free campuses and to also work for the rehabilitation of cultists. With the name Level 001, the founder maintained that the group was made up of ex-cultists who saw need to champion the cause of eradicating the menace in tertiary institutions.
