But one man looked so drastically different without his beard that even his own daughter failed to recognise him.

Heartwarming footage has emerged showing what happened when seven-month old Anistyn Claire from San Antonio, Texas, was put on her father's lap after he got rid of his facial fuzz.

The clip, shot in July, shows Anistyn Claire playing peekaboo with her father before he shaved, laughing gleefully as he peeks out from behind a blanket.

He then plays the same game after shaving off his beard completely for a job interview, but the tot's face falls the moment she sees his clean-shaven face.
She stares at him for a few moments before dropping her head and averting his eyes, looking decidedly unsure.

Even when he pulls her in for a cuddle, she still continues to refuse to meet his gaze.
