Immediate past minister of state for Education Nyesome Wike was spotted with his wife strolling down the street in port harcourt while supporters followed behind.
Wike won the state gubernatorial election on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

The scene attracted many people who trooped out to have a glimpse of their governor-elect and their prospective first lady, who will be charged with steering the affairs of the state come May 29.
The victory of Chief Wike in the Rivers gubernatorial election has been opposed by the All Progressives Congress (APC). The party has vowed to upturn the defeat it suffered at the hands of the PDP in the electoral tribunal.

The aforementioned has fueled rumours that Wike, was pondering on defecting to the APC to save his head.

However, Rivers State chapter of the PDP has dismissed speculations that the state’s governor-elect is contemplating on defecting to the APC.
