Makurdi Magistrate Court Remands 60Year Old Farmer For Murdering A90Year Old Man In Zaki Biam,Benue State.


Makurdi, Benue State Magistrates' Court, on Thursday, remanded a 60-year-old farmer, Utule Gebe, over alleged murder of a nonagenarian.The Magistrate, Franca Yuwa, said the accused should be kept behind bars until next date of adjournment.
Yuwa, who did not take the plea of the accused, said the court lacked the jurisdiction to try the case.Gebe, who lives at Ato Mbagen in Ukum Local Government Area of Benue State, is facing a two-count charge of murder and conspiracy.

Earlier, the prosecutor, Inspector Abraham Akile, told the court that the accused committed the offence on June 16 at Zaki-Biam.
He said the incident was reported by a man, Iorwa Mzua of Ato Mbagen at Zaki-Biam Police Station on June 16.He said the complainant alleged that the accused conspired with his son, Terwase Gebe and two others to commit the offence.
"They came to the house of the deceased, Tsenongo Yade, 90, called him outside and shot him dead," the prosecutor said.He said the offences contravened sections 97 and 222 of the Penal Code, Laws of Benue State 2004
The case has been adjourned to November 2 for mention.
