Oprah Winfrey says'' I'm NOT a Lesbian'.

Oprah Winfrey has denied she is a lesbian, saying that constant rumors about her close relationship with a female friend were irritating "because it means that somebody must think I am lying."
The influential TV talk show host addressed her 20-year relationship with Gayle King, and her ongoing partnership with lover Stedman Graham, in an emotional interview with journalist Barbara Walters to be shown on ABC television on Thursday.
"She is the mother I never had. She is the sister everybody would want. She is the friend that everybody deserves. I don't know a better person," Winfrey said of King, fighting back tears.
"It's making me cry because I'm thinking about how much I probably have never told her that. Tissue please," she added.
King and Winfrey, 56, met while working at a local Baltimore TV station in the 1980s and have been inseparable professionally and personally, sparking much media speculation that they are gay.
"I'm not a lesbian. I'm not even kind of a lesbian," Winfrey spoke in an excerpt of the interview released on Wednesday. "And the reason why it irritates me is because it means that somebody must think I'm lying. That's number one. Number two...why would you want to hide it? That is not the way I run my life."
Winfrey, whose daily TV chat show is watched by millions in the United States and 145 other countries, said that businessman Stedman Graham was still her lover and mate after more than 20 years together, despite the fact they are now rarely seen in public together.
"I made a conscious effort around 2003, 2004 to pull back on my public appearances with Stedman," she said.
But denying speculation that the pair had split up, she told the press he was "the love, the lover, the man, the partner, the mate" of her life.
Winfrey is launching a new cable TV network, OWN, in January in a joint venture with Discovery Communications. She will end her ABC TV talk show in May 2011 after 25 years.

The Much Talked About ...........

Wikileaked is a new foreign policy journal that covers nothing but the stories emerging from Wikileaks's leaks, including the latest batch of #cablegate leaks. It looks like an exhaustive blow-by-blow of all the revelations contained in the leaked cables -- something I've been looking for. There are at least four different Wikileaks stories: the intelligence in the cables, the reaction to that intelligence, the debate over the ethics of releasing the cables, and the news about Julian Assange. I find them all interesting, but I'm much more interested in the content of the cables themselves, put into context. Wikileaked is my new go-to source for that information -- despite the fact that its publisher is owned by the Washington Post, which has led the pack in stupid, reactionary attacks on #cablegate (ironic, given WashPo's own history with the Watergate leaks.

New play : A Husband's Wife, starring Dede Mabiaku and Joke Silva

Written by Tyrone Terrence
Date and Venue: 18th Dec at Agip Recital Hall, Muson Centre, Onikan.

More about the play when you continue...

A Husband’s Wife is a marital game of chess.
It tells the story of a marriage gone sour. It is the psycho-sociological journey of a man in the throes of a mid-life crisis; the choices he makes and the mistakes that inevitably push him down the path of no return. It is also the story of a woman, who discovers, after 22 years of marriage that she is no longer physically or sexually attractive to the man she loves. The tragedy of the events is brilliantly matched with some of the wittiest, incisive language on stage today.

A Husband’s Wife, authored by Tyrone Terrence, was first staged at the MUSON Centre, Lagos, in 2004 and featured screen sensations Joke Silva and Richard Mofe-Damijo.

The play has since toured major cities around the world, including Abuja, Accra, London and Atlanta. It has continued to receive wide acclaim with a long line-up of A-list actors.

In continuance of this tradition, Rosewood Theatre, Clipse Management & Theatre in Nigeria supported by LOYA MILK and TOP TEA, brings to the stage once again, the incomparable Joke Silva and Theatre Maestro DEDE MABIAKU in what promises to be an unforgettable theatre experience.

Ivorian-Born Didier Drogba Deplores The Political Situation Of His Country

Chelsea's striker Didier Drogba on Tuesday deplored the current political deadlock his country is passing through in the wake of the November 28 presidential run-off, which occasioned an unprecedented situation where two presidents and two prime ministers are running parallel governments in the west African country, with an imminent danger of a military confrontation.

The former captain of the Elephants said he was frustrated with the outbreak of another crisis in a country emerging from eight years of civil war.

"I feel very bad and frustrated with what is going on in Cote D'Ivoire at the moment," he said. "It's deplorable. We're in an unprecedented difficult situation the Ivorian people can't deal with. I'm speaking as a citizen of Cote D'Ivoire and I think it is unfortunate to find ourselves in this kind of impasse again after all our sufferings.

"We spent the last 10 years in difficult crises, and going into November 28 presidential election, we felt we were coming out to know true peace, but it seems our thoughts were wrong," he said.

Drogba's reputation cut across tribal and regional barriers in the country, and his image had been used by many peace promoters before and during the historic presidential election.

After eight years of armed conflict which partitioned the country into a rebel-controlled north and government-run south, a presidential election meant to reunify the once peaceful haven of the sub-region was held on October 31 and a run-off on November 28.

The electoral commission declared opposition candidate Alassane Ouattara winner but the result was overturned by the Constitutional Council in favour of incumbent President Laurent Gbagbo. Both men swore themselves in as presidents and have named their ministers.
Last night ECOWAS suspended Cote de Voire from its membership of the organisation and recognised 0uattara as the duely elected president.

Jimmy Choo Celebrates 15th Anniversary With This Embellished Piece.

You may have seen the Marilyn Minter-esque ads in honor of Jimmy Choo's 15th birthday, but Minter herself shot the image above.  Crystals — the traditional 15th anniversary gift — smother the silver shoe splashing through the gold puddle; it's as sparkly and dirty as one would expect from Minter.

But Tamara Mellon, the woman behind Choo's success, found herself surprised by the artist whose work she's collected for so long, "It's amazing how down to earth Marilyn is and [yet she] produces such provocative, sexy, and inspiring images."

If you look closely, the 15th anniversary shoes are traditional Choo shapes, just covered with enough embellishments to celebrate an extra birthday or two.  Mellon explained, "I was inspired by vintage jewelry to add sparkling and luminous details…but these are not the jeweled shoes of the past…[they're] modern and edgy."

Minter herself is no stranger to the fashion world — she's collaborated with brands like Intermix and MAC as well as celebs like Madonna and Pamela Anderson, but this is her first luxury campaign.  Though most high fashion ads would love to be called "art," this may be the first piece to really warrant the title.

Casey Wins Glo Naija Sings.

After 8 weeks of stiff competition amongst 10 contestants, Casey has been announced the winner of the second season of Glo Naija Sings.

Casey was announced the winner of the Glo Naija Sings at the grand finale at the MNET Studios in Lagos; beating the other two finalists Rasine and Da brodas to the $100,000  (N15m) grand prize and a Toyota Rav 4.

Overwhelmed by excitement and disbelief, Casey fell flat to the ground as host Olisa Odibua pronounced him the winner while the disappointed Rasine and Da Brodas chickened out of the stage for the latest champion.

'For me that I got to this top 3, I had won in many stages prior to this time; I had competed against myself; I got out of my comfort zone by performing songs by Fela with my R 'n'B style; I had to conquer that phobia. Right now the competition is not over; I'm entering the industry so I've got more competition again. Everyone is expecting a successful musical career from me, something new; no one is expecting crap and that's the task I have to live up to because I'm not going to make music for myself', the diploma holder tells NET.

Casey whose new feat has just conferred on him an automatic Globacom ambassadorial position, has already outlined plans on where to channel the whooping sum his vocal dexterity and fortune have brought his way.

'I intend to invest with the money and get back to school and take care of my family. I want to learn something in a music school. I just don't want to win this money and disappear into thin air. I want to do something big in music that's why I have a competition, challenge and serious work to do. I have to step up, from my packaging to the kind of music people want', he added.

The resident judge Tosin Martins led all the contestants including the evicted ones on stage in an opening performance that left the studio audience screaming and applauding at intervals.
