Gov Ortom condemns attack on Social Media Personality,Ukan Kurugh.

The governor in a swift reaction after the news went viral released a statement through his press secretary Akase Terver, stated that

"A government which has enacted a law prohibiting cultism, kidnapping, thuggery and all other criminal acts for the first time in the history of the state will surely not permit anyone to molest innocent members of the public.

The reported man-handling of Ukan Kurugh in Gboko is therefore condemned even as we await police investigation into the matter.

The Samuel Ortom administration has demonstrated maturity and uncommon capacity to tolerate divergent opinions on issues of governance. This is a clear departure from what happened in the past.

This administration encourages the people of the state at all times to have a say in the way they are governed as a number of communication channels have been made available to the public.

As Governor Ortom has often stressed, the state will be a better place if people are free to bring forth their ideas for development. The social media in particular offers us a free and realtime platform which has fostered the relationship between government and the people.

Youths of the state must eschew violence and learn to accommodate one another in the marketplace of ideas".

Ukan Kurugh helps Mother who delivered triplets, and was detained in Benue hospital over unpaid N77,600 bills.

Facebook user Ukan Kurugh,shared a story on a couple Mr and Mrs Dennis Anongo who had triplets and were detained at the hospital,they needed the sum of N77,600 to pay the medical bills, so they can take their children home. Here’s what Ukan  wrote about the incident;
“MR. & MRS. ANONGO RECEIVES A GIFT OF TRIPLETS FROM GOD BUT CANNOT GO HOME FROM THE HOSPITAL DUE TO INABILITY TO PAY THE BILL OF N77,600: A PASSIONATE APPEAL FOR EMERGENCY AID.
By: Ukan Kurugh
Successful delivery of children calls for celebration among parents, the story of Mr. & Mrs. Dennis Anongo comes with mixed feelings as his wife, Mrs. Kwaghaondo was delivered of triplets (2 boys and 1 girl) at the General Hospital, North-Bank, Makurdi. Amidst this joy, they have been unable to foot the hospital bill of Seventy Seven Thousand, Six Hundred Naira (N77,600), a reason for which the hospital has refused them departure.
While I was at the hospital this afternoon, one of the nurses, Sewuese who called my attention told me in confidence that, since birth, the children have not added in weight hence they were malnourished due to the mother’s poor feeding, which in turn has also affected them. It is incontestible that, at this time, enhanced feeding is deserved for a mother who has just put to bed and the nature of her feeding has overriding effects on the newborn.
The father of the children, Mr. Dennis Anongo is a peasant farmer who is resident at Atsom Village in Gwande District of Makurdi Local Government Area, a place located before Daudu on the Makurdi-Lafia road. The mother is but only a house wife who accompanies her husband to the farm.
The children which I gathered were delivered through cesarean session, which was done on the 10th of May, 2017 which means that they have been stayed at the hospital for more than 2 weeks now. Feeding is equally a challenge, hence they are of rural domicile and all the visitors from the village only come along with either pounded yam, akpu or other forms of carbohydrate foods. This has equally affected the new born babies who have not added in size since over the 2 weeks of their birth.
I sincerely wish to use this medium to reach out to the government, humanitarian organizations, spirited individuals and all members of the public to add value to the lives of these new children who are for now been starved and suffered. It’s indeed an uncommon thing of joy that the children have come, but this challenge has countered the smooth happiness the family would have celebrated.
The father Mr. Dennis Anongo can be reached on mobile: 09096571784.
God bless us as we once again, touch lives, amen.”

In a swift mood people began to respond to his call, and that was how Ukan raised the money to pay the bills.Read his post again

TO GOD BE THE GLORY WE (THE SOCIAL MEDIA COMMUNITY) HAVE DONE IT AGAIN. MR. & MRS. DENNIS AYONGO HAVE SECURED AND PAID THE COMPLETE HOSPITAL BILL AS MORE SUPPORT CONTINUES TO COME IN.

By: Ukan Kurugh

The saying that God works in mysterious ways may have come true in the life of Mr.  Dennis Ayongo whose wife gave birth to a set of triplets at the General Hospital, Northbank-Makurdi in Benue State. The humble family of peasant farmers could not afford the payment of the discharge bill of N77,600 and a good Samaritan called my attention, where I did a video and later a facebook story calling for support to aid them.

In what would appear to be a fortunate swing of fate, Nigerians began to send in support directly to Mr. Dennis' GTB account and in less than 4 hours the money was raised. The good story is that, support has continued to come in through calls, money, prayers, donations of clothes as well as food items. It should be known that, apart from the need for hospital bills, the family lamented the inability to sustain the mother's feeding which had gravely affected the triplets, who have not increased in weight since their birth.

The financial support which came in from different people known and unknown had at this morning amounted to N120,000 in Mr Dennis's account from which the hospital bill was paid. The money was this morning  presented to Dr. James Iwodi, the Medical Officer in Charge at the General Hospital, Northbank. He appreciated the gesture and cautioned Mr. Dennis to be prayerful to God and see the triplets as a blessing rather a burden, hence blessings had started rolling in from people who didn't even know them. On her part, the Chief Nurse of the maternty ward, Mrs. Kwaghzer maintained that, apart from the payment of hospital bills, it was pertinent to enhance the mother's feeding hence she lacked good food. She also reiterated that, as a matter of urgency, artificial food supplements were needed hence breasts alone were insufficient for the feeding of the children and recommended six cartons of NAN milk for a start.

Information from neighbors of Mr. & Mrs. Anongo revealed that their house was not even conducive for the children, hence the roof was leaking and the mattress in the room was not enough to sustain the triplets and their mom. Mrs. Kwaghzer called on the government and well meaning Nigerians to come to the aid of the humble family, while equally appreciating all those who had spent time and resources to cater for the new born babies.

While I was there this morning to  make payment personally to the hospital management, I was informed that the office of the First Lady of Benue State, Dr. Mrs. Eunice Ortom had contacted the family and the hospital management and would be back to support them. Equally, I was informed by Dr. Iwodi that, MTN Care had also checked on the family and had also promise to come with support. I must appreciate them for their kind gesture towards the family that is obviously humble and in need of support.

I wish to in all sense of humility thank you all for your support and show of concern on the less privilege done through me. I am committed to this task and your unalloyed support has always been a charge to do more. May God's blessings never depart from you today and always. While the hospital bill has been paid and the mother and triplets are set to leave the hospital on Tuesday, they are still in need of support to keep the children going and enhance their mother's feeding and welfare.

The father Mr. Dennis Anongo can be reached on mobile: 09096571784.

Man builds house for his poor neighbors who have been childless for 30 years in Calarbar (photos)

Mr Ebugwe Obu has been married to Mrs Agnes Obu for the past 30 years. They have been so married since they both fell in love 3 decades ago. This couple has passed through the worst of temptations and trepidation. But the unity in their married vows has kept them going this far.

Mr Ebugwe Obu and Mr Agnes Obu are peasant farmers. They toil to survive. Often, they survive with a meal a day, and sometimes palm kernels, or corn. They have remained faithful to each other. A testament that has kept their 3 decades marriage childless.

They have lived in a hut made of red mud and raffia mats which they constructed with their bare hands for as long as 45 years now recently.

They don't entertain guest, and had no friends, apart from a few customers who come to their house to buy various farm produce in pennies that can fetch a meal or two.

The luxury of a sofa, bed, radio, television, and other modern technologies are only tales by moonlight to their ears.

Married for 30 years without a child, these two lovebirds clings to each other for survival. Pittance is a way of life for them.

A fence away from their red hut is a magnificent house. Built with the greatest of materials only seen and described by other villagers while on the way to the farms. Mr Ebugwe and wife will only watch in awe as the house is being built.

The house owner's curiosity led him to visit Mr and Mrs Ebugwe Obu. Where their sad story was told him.

Mr Koko Dan, the new neighbor of Mr and Mrs Ebugwe extended a hand of friendship and good neighborliness, and has built a three bedroom apartment for Mr & Mrs Ebugwe.

Koko Dan said during the official handing over of the keys ceremony to Mr & Mrs Ebugwe, that "if this couple had a child after 30 years of marriage, he has no doubt that their child would have built a house for them."

In other to increase their goodwill, Koko Dan has named the house Senator John Owan Enoh Villa. And has invited Sen Owan to present the keys to the couple.

Ambode Sacks Chaplain, Kicks Family Out of Residence for ‘Disrespecting’ Wife

Governor of Lagos State Akinwunmi Ambode ordered the removal of the Chaplain of the Chapel of Christ the Light, Alausa, Lagos State, Venerable Femi Taiwo, and had his family kicked out of his official residence, 24 hours after an anointing service.

The church is under the Lagos State Ministry of Home Affairs, while the Office of the Lagos State First Lady supervises church.

Taiwo was reportedly sacked for allegedly disrespecting the governor’s wife during an anointing service on Monday, May 15, without any query or official reason stated in the sack letter.

The Punch reports that the government insisted that Taiwan be removed despite pleas from church leaders that he be retained.

According to the Punch, Taiwo allegedly angered, the governor’s wife, Bolanle Ambode, during an anointing service on Sunday, May 14.

Church members were said to have filed out to receive anointing oil during the May 14 but no preference was accorded the Mrs Ambode. She alledgedly stormed out of the church, as some of the women leaders ran after her.

Bolanle, who was reported to be visibly angry, allegedly shunned entreaties from the women, which included the wife of the presiding chaplain.

The cleric was sacked the next day.

The termination letter was dated, May 15, 2017, and signed by the Chairman, Governing Council of CCTL, Mr. Olugbenga Solomon. The letter also ordered the Assistant Chaplain, Very Rev. Ayo Oyadotun, to take over  with immediate effect.

A church member, who witnessed the drama and begged not to be identified, said , “The church had declared seven-day fasting after we lost two prominent members.

“The Sunday service, which was declared as anointing service, was supposed to end the fasting.

“The First Lady, Mrs. Bolanle Ambode, was present with her entourage. She comes to the church once in a while.

“When it was time to be anointed, the cleric asked people to come forward, adding that it was optional. Three people stood at the stage to anoint people. They included the chaplain, the presiding chaplain and one other person.

“People started stepping out one after another. The governor’s wife, after some time, also stepped out and was anointed.”

The source said within a few minutes of taking the oil, Bolanle, who felt disrespected, stepped out with her entourage.

Another member of the church  said, “As she stepped out, it was obvious that she was angry.

“The president of the women’s fellowship and the pastor’s wife ran after her. She shunned them, entered her car and zoomed off.

He said, “Let me be straight with you, in the letter there was no reason for the sack. Whatever you are hearing are what members of the church believed could have happened. And there was indeed a protest by the church and the governing council assuaged them on the sacking.

“There was nothing official in that sacking. No investigation, no query, nothing. We had an anointing service on that Sunday. The following day, the venerable was served the sack letter,” a church leader who asked not to be named said.

Taiwo also refused to comment about the reason he was sacked.

He said, “If you have any enquiry, direct it to the church. But one thing I can say is that I have tried as a pastor to live above board. It will not be right engaging the church or the government on the pages of a newspaper.”

The state Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Steve Ayorinde, said Taiwo was sacked for “past conducts unbecoming of his office”

He however did not say specifically identify the conducts.
