Protestors Rally at JFK Airport as Lawyers Say ‘Dozens’ Detained Over President Trump’s Immigration Order

Lawyers say dozens of travelers from countries named in President Trump’s recent executive order were held at John F. Kennedy International Airport and other airports Saturday amid confusion about whether they could legally enter the country. At least two of the detained were legal U.S. visa holders who were not allowed to speak to their attorneys for several hours.

“Both recipients have approved visas, got on a plane before executive order was signed, arrived and were then detained,” says Lara Finkbeiner, deputy legal director for the International Refugee Assistance Project, which represents two of the twelve detainees. “We have no idea how they’re doing.”

As of early afternoon on a Saturday, one of the detainees, Iraqi citizen Hameed Khalid Darweesh, 53, was released. Darweesh worked as an interpreter for the U.S. military in Iraq, which caused local militia to threaten his life.

Julie Kornfeld, a lawyer working to secure the release of the other known detainee Haider Sameer Abdukhaleg Alshawi, 33, said that he arrived Friday around 8:30 p.m. from Sweden. Kornfeld says his wife had been “very emotional,” and had not slept since her husband was detained. Alshawi’s family members had worked for a U.S. security contractor in Iraq.

Serena Williams beats Venus to win her 23rd Grand Slam title.

Serena Williams rewrote history Saturday to surpass Steffi Graf and capture a record 23rd Grand Slam title as well as the world number one ranking by beating her sister Venus in the Australian Open final.

The dominant American swept past her greatest rival 6-4, 6-4 on Rod Laver Arena for her seventh Melbourne Park crown to finally clinch the record for Open-era major titles, nearly 18 years after winning her first.

The 35-year-old, who equalled Graf’s mark of 22 at Wimbledon last year, now stands just one behind the all-time 24 won by Margaret Court, who was in the president’s box to witness Williams’ feat.

Switzerland arrests former Gambian Interior minister for crimes against humanity.

Switzerland on Thursday detained former Gambian interior minister Ousman Sonko, who is under investigation for crimes against humanity during the regime of ex-president Yahya Jammeh.

The arrest and probe come as The Gambia Monday welcomed their new president Adama Barrow, who had fled to Senegal after winning a landmark election as Jammeh refused to give up power sparking a political crisis.

Bern prosecutor Christof Scheurer told AFP that Sonko was being investigated under article 264a of the Swiss criminal code, which covers crimes against humanity.

Sonko had been one of Jammeh's top aides, serving in his presidential guard before heading the interior ministry from 2006 to 2016.

Jammeh sacked him in September and Sanko fled to Sweden where his request for asylum was rejected.

Sonko was detained in the Swiss capital Bern following a complaint filed by rights group TRIAL.

"He will be interrogated soon," Amael Gschwind, a spokesman for Bern prosecutors told AFP, confirming the arrest.

TRIAL, which campaigns for the Swiss judicial system to act on crimes committed abroad, described Sonko as one of Jammeh's "strongmen" and claimed he must have been aware of the violations committed under the fallen authoritarian regime.

"Sonko could not have ignored the large-scale torture that political opponents, journalists and human rights defenders suffered," charged Benedict de Moerloose of TRIAL's criminal law division.

According to TRIAL, Sonko arrived in Switzerland in November and applied for asylum.

It was not immediately clear where he had lived between his arrival and his arrest.

TRIAL urged Switzerland to move forward with prosecution, suggesting it could give positive momentum to the unprecedented political developments under way in The Gambia.

"The crimes of Jammeh's government have never been judged, and torturers walk free. At the time Gambia is preparing for a democratic transition, these developments send a strong message of hope," the rights group claimed in a statement.

Jammeh refused to step down after his election loss to Barrow, but was ultimately forced to quit power and flee to Equatorial Guinea amid strong regional and international pressure.

On Thursday, military officials and senior members of his coalition government, along with jubilant Gambian citizens welcomed Barrow home as he stepped off a plane from neighbouring Senegal, where he had taken shelter on January 15.

His return marks the first ever democratic transfer of power in The Gambia's history.

Man brings home lovers so 'lazy' wife can watch and learn BED skills from them

A heartbroken wife in Zimbabwe has come forth with a very uncomfortable situation she is going through at home.

Her abusive husband, 32 year Peter Sibanda, apparently brings all sorts of girls in their house, to have sex in front of her, so that she can “watch live and learn” how other women do it on her bed.

Peter Sibanda, calls his wife, Grace Nyoni, “lazy” when it comes to sexual performance. He has said he was tired of “boring bedroom sessions”, so decided to bring girlfriends over, so that her wife could observe and “learn some skills.” He made Nyoni sleep on the floor when he is with other women on the bed.

- “He doesn’t want to sleep with me in our bed, instead he prefers coming with girls to our home and says he’s doing me a favour by letting me see how other women are able to please their husbands. I’m no longer enjoying this marriage,” said Nyoni.

Nyoni turned to her mother-in-law, Eunice Sibanda, to tell about the delicate situation, and she got very angry at her son. “I told him to stop it because there are diseases out there. I need grandchildren,” Mrs Sibanda commented.

The wife has even admitted Sibanda has forced her to comment which of the girls she considers to be the best, and which tips she learned. “He forces me to comment on who’s the best among his girlfriends and how many concepts did I master during their act. He also forces me to wash the sheets, preparing for another girl who will come at night,” said Nyoni.

The sleep-around husband has no shame. He is of the view that one day his wife would learn something in all his actions.

Sibanda claims he loves his wife “more than she knows,” adding that he feels he is “not rude to her”. He simply thinks he found this “brilliant method” to teach her on sexuality.

28-yr-old woman abandons hubby in jail, dumps baby in orphanage, moves in with 4th husband

Blessing Ochonogor allegedly abandoned her husband’s home, dumped her two-year-old daughter in an orphanage and moved in with her fourth husband in Abuja, Sun reports.

A 34-year-old jail returnee, Paul Jubril, had reported to the police that his wife, Blessing, killed their daughter, Ifeoma, and fled to live with another man. The couple were living together with their two kids before Paul went to jail.

Upon return from Suleja prison about two weeks ago, Paul, discovered that Blessing had fled their apartment with their two kids, Ifeoma and Peter. He later heard that Ifeoma was at an orphanage home. .

Police findings show that after leaving her husband’s home, Blessing took Ifeoma to an orphanage home where she lied to them that the baby’s parents had died. The orphanage later discovered that Ifeoma had been infected with HIV.

This prompted officials to return her to Blessing, but it was almost too late as she died soon after. “I have to report the case at Kubwa phase 4 police station Abuja. I didn’t believe that my child could die of HIV. .

When I was going to prison in December 2016, my child was in good health. I don’t know why my child will die of HIV. I don’t have HIV, likewise, my seven years old son, Peter Smith. I want to know the cause of death of my child.

It is Blessing who is responsible for the death of my child”, the angry father lamented. While justifying why she had to move out of Paul’s home, she said, “Whenever I have a quarrel with my boyfriend, he used to beat me to a state of coma.

When I couldn’t bear it anymore, I packed out of the house. I didn't kill my child. It was frustration that prompted me to take the child to orphanage home. When life is so difficult for me, I have to marry another man."
