Caitlyn Jenner: I Don't Even Talk to the Kardashians Anymore!

It may be hard to believe, but it's been two years now since Caitlyn Jenner first announced to the world that she's a transgender woman, courtesy of a Diane Sawyer interview.

Well, last night she had another chat with Diane, and the new revelations she made are nearly as shocking.

For instance, Caitlyn revealed that she really doesn't talk to many of her children anymore -- including the Kardashians.

"Some I have remained very close to," she explained. "A couple of them ... I'm a little more distant."

"I have to admit, I'll sit here and wonder, 'Is it because of my transitioning? Or is because their life is so busy that they don't call, like, all the time?'"

We have to imagine that she's "a little more distant" with Khloe, who's had big issues with Caitlyn ever since she announced her transition.

There's also a chance that Caitlyn doesn't hear from any of the Kardashians, since Kris Jenner is obviously feeling very attacked by Caitlyn these days.

"Nobody calls that much," Caitlyn admitted in the interview. "I mostly reach out to them. Obviously, the Jenner side calls more, but they all have their own lives."

Isn't that the saddest thing you ever heard?

Hold on, because it just gets worse.

She also talked about her famous Vanity Fair cover, the world's first introduction to Caitlyn Jenner, and how her children felt about it.

"I know my kids, they thought, 'You know what, it's a little too much,'" she said. "But, from my standpoint, I had suffered for 65 years. To have a beautiful shot of my authentic self was important."

"I wanted to end the old Bruce, my old life, and that picture did it."

And it worked -- these days, she's "Happy, peaceful, I have peace in my soul. All of that confusion has left me."

The confusion was real, as you can imagine.

She revealed that before she transitioned, she put specific instructions in her will that when she died, "when I'm buried, I wanted to be dressed as her. Because that's the way I was going to heaven."

As for settling down again, Caitlyn isn't too into the idea -- and understandably so, considering how some of her marriages have ended.

"I don't see really even dating in my future," she explained. "I have not been approached. I've never been out on date [in two years]."

"I just have a lot of friends. My life revolves around my kids."

But the interview wasn't all talk about love and family. At one point, Caitlyn got political.

She said that she did vote for Trump which isn't a surprise -- because she thought that he'd do a good job with the LGBT community. How she thought that, we have no idea, but it happened.

But, like countless other Americans, she's regretting her vote.

"This administration for me, it was extremely, extremely disappointing. Here's the deal breaker with the Republican party and the deal breaker is, you mess with my community, you don't give us equality and a fair shot, I'm coming after you."

So it sounds like Caitlyn is doing well these days, huh? She seems very settled in her new life, and very happy.

Congrats, lady!

Protesting farmers drink urine, see their reasons for doing so.

Grabbing eyeballs with their novel way of protest, Tamil Nadu farmers on Saturday drank urine in another desperate bid to draw the government's attention towards their plight.

Over the last 39 days, they have shaved half of their moustache and head, kept mice and snakes in their mouth, conducted mock funerals, flogged themselves and carried skulls of other farmers, who had committed suicide due to debt pressure.

The farmers, whose protest entered the 40th day today, drank urine even as police tried to stop them.

They have been demanding a loan waiver, a revised drought relief package and better support prices for their produce.

P Ayyakkannu, who is leading the protest, said: "The Union government is not giving us water. So we are consuming urine."

The protesters had yesterday said they would drink urine if the Centre failed to offer a solution to their problems within a day.

On April 10, they had stripped in front of the prime minister's office here to press for their demands.

“His voice would thunder; his big, wealthy-man posture was without equal in the industry.

“ It will be very difficult to replace this great man, may his soul rest in peace,” he said.

Olumide Bakare died after battling with a heart/lung linked ailment since 2013.

Herbalist Kills Client After Collecting N400,000 From Him For Money Ritual (Photo)

The Osun State Police Command has arrested a 34-year-old herbalist, Saheed Adekunle, for allegedly killing a vulcaniser, Oderinde Sunday after collecting the sum of N400,000 from the deceased for ritual money making.

Sunday was said to have approached Adekunle for rituals that would enable him to become wealthy and the herbalist had billed him the sum of N4000,000, for the services, which he paid.

The deceased, who paid the herbalist the money since January, had waited till March without experiencing any sign of prosperity.

Against this backdrop, the deceased sought for a refund of the money he paid.

However, Adekunle reneged on his promise, which resulted in a fight between him and the deceased.

Adekunle, in the ensuing fight allegedly picked up a big stone while the deceased smashed the deceased on his head.

Not done with his bleeding client, the suspect was said to have taken a cable, with which he strangled Sunday to death.

On noticing that Sunday was dead, the suspect was said to have put his remains in a big bag and dumped it on Ibokun Road at OSBC area of the town.

Speaking with Saturday Tribune after his arrest, the herbalist confessed to the killing the deceased, saying his action was to stop him from asking him for the money he collected.

He said, “I prepare herbal concoctions and I travel to states to sell to clients. I learnt tailoring as a vocation.

“A vulcaniser, Sunday, came to me in December 2016 and told me that he wanted me to help him do charm to make him wealthy. I advised him to do something that would boost his business, but he insisted on money-making charm. So I told him that there was no problem, asking him to bring money to carry out the process. I didn’t know how to do such a charm; I only wanted to deceive him.

“Sunday told me that he had a piece of land that he would sell. After he sold the land, he brought N400,000 to me on Monday, March 6 and also came with someone, insisting that I signed a paper to indicate that I collected money from him.

“Two days after, on Wednesday, March 8, Sunday picked a quarrel with me that I had not prepared the charm. I said I would give him a charm to boost his business, but he did not agree. By then, I had already spent part of the money.

“We started fighting and I stepped outside my room, picked a heavy stone and hit Sunday on the head with it. He was backing me so he didn’t see me with the stone. He fell down, covered in his blood. I picked a wire and strangled him on the neck, after which I put his body in a big ‘Ghana-must-go’ bag that I had at home.

“I went to borrow a motorcycle from a neighbour on the pretext that I wanted to go out with it. I dragged the bag out and sought the assistance of a passerby to put it on the motorcycle because it was heavy. I tied the bag to the bike with a rope and took it to the Osun State Broadcasting Corporation (OSBC) Road where I dropped it at about 10.30a.m.

“I returned the bike to the owner and went to barb my hair. Unknown to me, some people noticed blood dripping from the bag when I was going with it and had gone round the neighbourhood, discussing it.

“As I returned from barber’s shop, a huge mob which had gathered descended on me, beating me and asking about what I put in the bag. I told them it was an animal I used to make sacrifice, but they didn’t listen to me. They forcefully broke my door and demanded to know what I kept in the room. They were about setting me ablaze when I was rescued by officials of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC).

“I was taken to the civil defence office, but was released to my father because of the level of injury inflicted on me by the mob. The officials asked him (my father) to bring me back the following Monday after I must have been treated. My father asked me severally to tell him what was in the bag, but I told him it was an animal.

“On Friday, March 10, policemen from Oke Bale Police Station came to my father and asked him to bring me to the station. When we got there, they started interrogating me and I confessed that I was the one who killed Sunday. The police had earlier recovered the body in the bag and had deposited it in the mortuary.

“It was after my arrest that I realised the gravity of my action. I have never done such a thing in my life. I believe it was the devil that used me. I know what I did was bad but I want to plead with the government to forgive me. I will never do such a thing again. My father started raining abuses on me when I confessed that it was actually a human I killed and put his body in a bag.”

Reacting to the incident, the State Police Commissioner, Olafimihan Adeoye, directed that the suspect be transferred to the homicide section of the State Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department, Osogbo, for further investigations.

Assassination attempt: Why Kogi gov want me dead – Dino Melaye

Kogi State governor, Yahaya Bello and Dino Melaye

Hundreds of Kogi Women Saturday trooped to the street of Aiyetoro -Gbede (home town of Senator Dino Melaye) protesting over the assassination attempt on Senator Dino Melaye.

The women drawn from the seven LGAs of Kogi West senatorial axis of the state also marched from the street to the senators house conveying their solidarity to him.

The protestants who latter goes spiritual raining curses on those who want to kill the senator, carried different ply cards with some inscriptions; “We, Kogi West Women warn Yahaya Bello, Edward Onoja, Taofiq Isa; touch Dino Melaye and face our wrath”, “Do not kill the light, let the light shine” amidst others.

One of the spokesperson of the group, Mrs Ikusemoro Jalon while addressing the protestants said the politics of assassination is akin to the area, “Senator Dino is fighting for our rights. The rights of women, workers pensioners and the less privileged, we don’t want him kill.

“We are mothers we don’t want him murdered. We’ve not see this type of politics before. We have been practising politics for long but not the politics of guns”.

The women call on the security agencies to unravel the situation and ensured that justice is prevailed.

Responding to the protestants, Senator Dino alleged that the reason why Kogi State governor, Yahaya Bello wanted him dead was because of his stand on the plight of the state workers and Pensioners.

He noted that workers and pensioners in the state are dying and suffering following the refusal of the governor to pay salary and pensions in the last 15 months, “Yahaya Bello collected N20 billion naira from federal government as bail out fund, still he refused to settle workers. He also collected N11 billion naira from Paris refund money, still he refused to pay workers and pensioners.

“Children can no longer go to school, tenants can no longer pay for house rent, enough is enough the people of Kogi State are tired of this government. I will continue to speak the truth for the sake of my people. No amount of intimidation will stop me from fighting for the course of my people.”

Dino who expressed deep shock over the assassination attempt on his life described the situation as unfortunate, regrettable, highly disturbing and very strange to the socio-political-culture of the people of Kogi West.

“In the history of Kogi West, various political gladiators have, at various times, had their differences but none had ever been escalated to the level of attempt on life.

“The recent incident is alien to Okun people and to Kogi West. The advent of Yahaya Bello as Governor and Taofiq Isa as Local Government administrator in the political firmament of Kogi state has brought this unfortunate socio-political paradigm shift.

” I have fought for the rights of the people at the national level, God will not forgive me if I don’t fight for the rights of my people at home.”

Nigerian workers deserve N96,000 minimum wage – Labour

The Northern Coordinator, United Labour Congress (ULC), John Gimbason on Saturday reiterated the union’s demand for N96,000 minimum wage for workers in the country.

Gimbason, also former Kaduna State NLC chairman, spoke while inaugurating a ULC 12-member State Executive Council in Kaduna.

He said the proposal was “realistic and realisable considering the current inflation in the nation’s economy and in view of workers’ contributions to nation’s building”.

The comrade said that the new Labour Centre had opened negotiations with the Federal Government on the proposed N96, 000 minimum wage, assuring members that the proposal would soon yield fruits.

According to him, “while workers are over burdened with lots of responsibilities, they receive stipends as monthly salaries, even as some others do not receive their wages for months”.

Gimbason criticised the Kaduna State government’s plan to sell off government quarters to the highest bidder, saying that it was unacceptable and called for the reversal of the decision.

He further appealed to the 25 unions under the ULC to give their maximum cooperation to ensure that workers in both public and private sectors were treated with human face.

I’m not the owner of N2bn in UBA account – Ex- Niger Commissioner

The Deputy Governorship candidate of the People Democratic Party (PDP) in the 2015 Governorship election in Niger state, Alhaji Liman Kantigi has denied ownership of the N2 billion in a United Bank for Africa (UBA) account linked to him by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).

According to Kantigi, he is not aware of the said account traced to a company account titled Liman and companies in UBA stating that he is neither a Director nor a Stakeholder in the company.

“For God sake, the media ought to have confirm from the banks if truly my names are there as their customer? I am not a Director of such companies nor Share holder. ”

In a statement made available to The Nation in Minna, Kantigi also denied allegations that he has been evading the EFCC regarding the linked account adding that some group of people have decided to use the media to smear his character as a businessman and politician.
“I acknowledge the fact that the EFCC has the constitutional right to investigate anybody they suspect, it is, however not true that I have been evading the commission. My lawyers are in touch with the EFCC and the commission is aware of this, so it is not true that I am evading the commission.

“I was Chairman of my Local Government with outstanding performances and a Honourable Commissioner for seven months. How could I have siphoned such amount and pushed to companies as an individual from the government agency as claimed by the medias?, ” he asked.
Kantigi urged the media to confirm from the banks and fault him if he was lying adding that the media reports was being orchestrated by people who would want to spoil his name and associate his name with anything bad by all means.

Kantigi appealed to his supporters to disregard all the news trending about him in the media stressing that they are false and unfounded and urge the media to cross their facts very well before rushing to the public.

BBNaija: Judges unfair in disqualifying me over sexual assault on Tboss – Kemen

Disqualified  Big Brother Naija housemate, Ekemini Ekerete, better known as Kemen, has commented that the judges of the reality television show were unfair to have disqualified him from the programme.

Recall that Kemen was in March disqualified after he was caught on tape fondling Tboss breast without her consent.

Tboss was asleep when Kemen carried out the act.

Following Kemen’s disqualification, the organisers of the show said it took them seven hours of deliberation, to disqualify fitness trainer.

Reacting to a question on whether the judges who disqualified him were fair, Kemen told New Telegraph, “I don’t think they were fair but in their perception of the scenario, it is normal for them to take the decision they took because it was necessary at that time based on how sensitive they were to the issue.”

On if T-boss led him into touching her breast, the fitness trainer said, “There was no leading on, I and T-Boss had a cordial relationship. There was no leading on of any sort and there was no case of molestation.”

I placed a call and apologized to my Father ,i asked him if i made him proud and he said " I love you my daughter "- Debbie-Rise

Big Brother Naija finalist, singer and guitarist, Deborah Ebun, popularly called Debie-Rise, has disclosed how her Dad pardoned her after she sneaked to participate in the show

During the reality show, the upcoming singer revealed how she left home because her dad, a pastor, would not let her attend the show.

The Kogi-born singer, who has been touring media houses since the end of the reality, said, “Apart from the fact that my father is a pastor, I feel like I’m a typical girl with a good cultural upbringing from the north where parents are very protective of their children or they are just worried about the outside world like the city life.

“I understood it as to the kind of life he wanted for me. I know he wants the best for me and he was just trying his best.

“He was trying to be protective but being a pastor and me trying to have a career in music, there could be this friction. So I didn’t want a situation whereby I would inform him of my intentions to go and then he would say no. I did that because once he said no, then I couldn’t go because it would be disobedient”.

“So, I wanted to be smart, go for it and tell him, ‘daddy I have gone, please pray for me’ like Dare Art Alade sang and I’m happy I did it. If not I would have had to convince him and there would have been no time to do that but then in the end, to God be the glory”

“He wasn’t initially impressed and didn’t like that idea and he actually called the producers of the event and asked me to come back home.” He told me he was not happy at all but then I was able to convince him and beg him.

“Before I returned home, I was a bit scared and I wasn’t sure he would be happy. I won’t lie, I was just hoping I made him proud in the house and when I finally placed a call to him, he said something like, ‘now you have my time abi?’

“And I apologized and asked him if I made him proud and he just said “I love you my daughter” and that is just what I want you to know, that my parents are proud of me and I’m looking forward to going home and paying them a visit.”

Buhari is so sick; Osinbajo now a slave to dark and shameless cabal – Fani-Kayode

A former minister of Aviation, Femi David Fani-Kayode has claimed that President Muhammadu Buhari is so sick.

According to him, the president’s condition is so bad that he is only seen at mosque on Fridays.

The ex-minister in an article entitled Onward Christian soldiers; released on Saturday, also said some evil and shameless cabals have reduced Vice President, Yemi Osinbajo to a slave, hence his reason to maintain a sealed lips over the killings of Christians across the country.

He wrote, “Well-armed and well-funded Fulani militias are slaughtering Christians all over the nation and the Government has done nothing to stop it or to bring them to justice.

“808 Christians were killed in Southern Kaduna at Christmas. 1000 killed in Agatu, Benue state last year. 13 killed in Southern Kaduna on Easter. It goes on and on yet there have been no arrests.

“We have a President who is so sick that the only time he is seen is in the mosque on Fridays. What signal does that send? What has governance got to do with the mosque in a supposedly secular state?

Fani Kayode also said the continuous silence of Osinbajo in the ongoing killings of Christians across the country was a clear indication that he as good as a slave in the current government.

“Christian communities are being wasted and ravaged by Boko Haram. Christian youths of IPOB and MASSOB are being butchered on a daily basis whilst their leaders are being illegally detained.

“We have a Vice President who has been held captive and who is now a slave to some dark, sinister, evil and shameless cabal.

He added that the current government does not have respect for Christianity, hence its refusal to end the senseless killings of the Christians.

“We have a Government that hates our people and hates our faith. To them the only good Christian is a subservient Christian who is prepared to turn a blind eye to the murder, butchery and slaughter of his own.

“To them the only good Christian is one that lives in fear and remains silent even as his brothers and sisters in the Lord are being murdered, persecuted, marginalised and humiliated.”

On Friday, Perry Brimah, a popular columnists and convener of ENDS [Every Nigerian Do Something], raised the alarm that President Muhammadu Buhari is dying in office.

Buhari not interested in exchanging words with suspended SGF, Lawal – Presidency

The Senior Special Assistant to President Muhammadu Buhari on Media and Publicity, Garba Shehu has said his principal is not eager to exchange words with the suspended Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Babachir Lawal.

Shehu was reacting to Lawal’s claims on Thursday, that he was not aware of his suspension.

Speaking in an interview with Television Continental, Shehu explained the processes by which Buhari removes some of his appointees and insisted that nobody is fired on the radio or television.

“Our idea is not to engage in back and forth on this matter. Again, let me just give you this account, the tradition of President Muhammadu Buhari in dealing with all of the removals, including those of the military and so in, he has instituted a practice by which nobody hears of their own removal from office on the radio or television.

“He insists that each individual must be informed beforehand, so that they will let members of their family and staff know, and I am aware that the statement did not go out as early as it was issued because all of the parties needed to be contacted before it was issued, and it didn’t go out until exactly 1pm.

“What has happened has happened, we will not engage the SGF in any exchanges except to say that the president has set a very strong and a strict record since he came to office. Nobody will be fired on radio or changed from their position via the mass media, they must be informed, and I am aware that as early as 10 o’clock this statement was ready but it never was issued until 1pm but the idea was that all of them must be reached, informed that this had happened.

“On the contrary, it is a testimony to the president’s strict adherence to the due process of the law, to fairness and equity, because if the president was in a haste and he felt under pressure, he would have removed or sent the SGF on suspension on the basis of the interim report.

“But having seen that this report was an interim one, the Senate, they knew that they owed it to the president to prove it, to put before him a final report, which as I speak to you hasn’t come in as at now. I’m not blaming them for the delay in this action, but if the president had received that final report earlier than now he would have acted on it.

“However, it would seem to me that the president is now determined to get his own report and on the basis of which he now asked the Vice President to go and investigate and report back to him,” Shehu said.

British Airways has commenced flight to and from the Nnamdi Azikiwe international airport in Abuja after completion of repair works and subsequent re-opening of the airport.

The airline had joined other international airlines, including Lufthansa and South African Airways, in rejecting the Kaduna airport, which served as replacement hub during the period which Abuja airport was closed.

“I want to tell you that we have taken a decision not to operate to Kaduna because of logistics. We will resume operations immediately the facility is fixed,” Kola Olayinka, regional commercial manager, had said.

In a statement released on Friday, the airline commended the federal government on the timely completion of the repairs on the runway in Abuja.

“British Airways will like to applaud the minister of state, aviation, Hadi Sirika and his team for the brilliant job done on the Abuja runway,” the statement read.

“Aviation services actually resumed a day earlier at the Abuja airport rather than on the April 19 date scheduled for the completion of repairs on the runway and British Airways is very pleased that the international airport is reopening. Daily service to and from London will resume.”

Already, two British Airways flights have used the Abuja airport.

“British Airways BA83 scheduled to depart Terminal 5 at Heathrow, London on Wednesday evening arrived at Abuja at 4:48am on Thursday, April 20 as the first BA flight following the re-opening. British Airways BA82 scheduled to depart Abuja airport to London, left by 7:05am also on the same day,” the statement read.

“At this period, British Airways have reaffirmed their commitments as a trusted airline and aviation partner that will continue to be associated with constructive alliances for the positive growth of the aviation industry in Nigeria.”

Mel B sued by her nanny for defamation of character

Former Spice girl, Mel B is being sued by her nanny, Lorraine Gilles for defamation of character. Mel B, in a divorce suit filed against her husband, claimed that the nanny whom she once described as her best friend, had an affair with her husband, Stephen Belafonte and got pregnant but aborted the child.

According to TMZ, Lorraine believes that the numerous exhibits and pictures available will convince a jury that Mel B's accusations are a pack of lies.

Read TMZ report below..

Mel B's former nanny is filing a lawsuit against the singer, claiming she told lies about her in the divorce case against Stephen Belafonte. TMZ has learned the lawsuit centers on declarations Mel B filed in which she claims Belafonte and Lorraine Gilles told her they had an affair and that Lorraine was pregnant with his child. Mel B also claimed Gilles had an abortion. Mel B goes on to accuse Gilles and Belafonte of pilfering money from her. In another declaration, Mel B claims Lorraine has control over her sex tapes and might disseminate them.

There are numerous exhibits and pictures in the lawsuit which Gilles believe will convince a jury Mel B's allegations are a pack of lies. It's interesting ... generally a person can't be sued for what they say in court papers, but there's an exception in California family law cases when someone makes a claim against 3rd parties who are not involved in the litigation. Lorraine Gilles is a 3rd party in the divorce case.

See some of Mel B's court documents below...

Hospital detains Quadruplets and their mother over N300,000 debts.

Suspense and anxiety enveloped residents of a neighbourhood around Bauchi Road, Jos, Plateau State, as Halima Aliyu, a student of the National Teachers Institute (NTI), was delivered of a set of quadruplets in stunning circumstances.

Witnesses said the babies were born alive prematurely in one room apartment, where Halima, a 29-year-old mother of five before the arrival of the new babies, and her hubby, Aliyu Useni, aged 30, lived. They are having the quadruplets barely three years after being blessed with a set of twins named, Abduljafaru and Useni. Earlier, the couple had three children, Asamatu, aged 11, Rukaya (9) and Fatima (7), all girls.

Unfortunately, one of the new babies died shortly on arrival at the Jos University Teaching Hospital, where they were rushed to for medical care. Even as doctors confirmed one of the babies dead on arrival, the three who survived were denied admission as a result of an industrial action embarked upon by staff of the hospital.

Rejected, the babies born in the early hours of Sunday, March 12, 2017, were moved to the Plateau Specialist Hospital, Jos, where the parents met another obstacle. They were told all the incubators were occupied and thus, referred to Bingham University Teaching Hospital, also in the Plateau State capital.

It was learnt that on arrival at Bingham at about 1pm same day, Halima and her babies were admitted, despite shortage of incubators. Two of the babies were put in one incubator for hours before they were separated. They reportedly weighed below 1.025 as at the time of admission at the Paediatric ward of the hospital, where a team of doctors battled for their survival.

As at last week, two of the babies were said to have been officially ccertified fit to go home along with their mother, while one was still under observation in the incubator.

Sadly, however, the distraught parents face another hurdle, as the discharged babies cannot leave the hospital as a result of lack of funds to settle the bill, estimated at N300, 000.

“I don’t know where to get such amount of money at this difficult period. I have a bill of N300, 000 to pay for the two babies, who have been discharged; I don’t know how much I will be asked to pay for the one that has been in the incubator for more than one month. Some good Samaritans have donated their widows’ mite and I appreciate their support towards the survival of the children.

“I plead with the Plateau State government to come to my aid ,because the burden is too heavy for me to bear- the hospital bills, feeding and clothing of the children.  I know what I have been going through between 2013 and now, after I was blessed with a set of twins; I had not recovered from that trauma, and today, I have quadruplets.

But, God doesn’t make mistake; there are rich men who are looking for just a child, but don’t have any. I thank God for what He has done, but sincerely, I need help”, Aliyu, father of the babies, told Saturday Sun. After his primary education in an Islamic school, Aliyu ventured into business in 1995, trading in children clothes. Due to lack of patronage, he dumped the business in 2014 and took a loan from an undisclosed source, with which he traded in plastic buckets. That too ended abruptly as a result of the prevailing economic recession.

His greatest challenge at the moment is how to foot the hospital bills and cater for his wife and eight children. Besides, the rent on his one- room apartment had expired and he constantly fears the landlord might come knocking on his door to eject him soon.

Last month, three of his children, Asamatu, Rukaya and Fatima were sent packing from school for his inability to pay the fees; he made an undertaking to offset their fees on resumption, before they were allowed to write the second term examination.

Aliyu, the third and last child of his late father, married his wife, Halima, in 2005 when she was barely 17 years old. Within a period of 12 years, she has delivered babies five times, including a set of twins and quadruplets, all born at home. Interestingly, Aliyu’s late father and his father-in-law, share something in common. Both came out of their mothers’ wombs in pairs.

Why we’re being detained –Father

Aliyu Useni, father of the quadruplets alleged that his wife and two children have been detained at Bingham University Teaching Hospital Jos over their inability to settle the N300,000 medical bill.

“I am detained in the hospital, because I have not paid all the medical bill. I have deposited N100, 000 and I am making effort to raise the remaining money so we can go home.”

When Saturday Sun visited the hospital at about 12pm on Thursday, the Chief Medical Director was not on seat The Director of Administration, Barrister Asama, said the CMD, Prof. Edwin Esiegbe, should be contacted for any inquiries.

Barrister Asama insisted that he would not talk, as he was not a medical worker.

He said: “It is only when the CMD gives me directive to talk that I will make comment on this issue and even if he asks me to do, I will have to enquire before I can comment, because I am not a technician, I only heard that there are quadruplets in the hospital and I don’t know much about them.”

Efforts to get the Chief Medical Director to speak proved abortive as he was said to be in a management meeting as at the time of filing this report.

EFCC alerts Nigerians on stock exchange scams

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has alerted Nigerians on the frauds being perpetrated in the capital markets involving transfer of shares.

The anti-graft body said it had uncovered a syndicate specilalising in the selling of shares without the knowledge of the real owner.

”In recent times, one of the new modes of fraud in the Capital Markets is Portfolio Management Scams. Under this method, the investor is persuaded to release his shares to the stock broking firm hoping to receive the promised returns which the stock broking firm may not honour,” stated the EFCC.

Read EFCC full statement below:

Red Alert On Capital Markets Scam

The general public has been urged to be acquainted with recent trends in Capital Markets related fraud. Until recently, Capital Markets scams usually involved transfer of shares from one Stock broking house to another one of the syndicate fraudster’s choice where the shares are fraudulently sold without the knowledge of the real owner.

It also involved stealing of share certificates, stealing of dividend warrants and clearing them through a fraudulent bank account opened in the name of the original owner. The fraudsters usually target accounts which have been dormant for a long period as well as shares of deceased investors. This fraud is carried out in connivance with a syndicate at Nigerian Stock Exchange/Central Securities Clearing System and Registrars of the Companies whose shares are traded.

Sometimes the scammers lodge the cheques issued to them by the stock broking firms and clear them through Microfinance banks. The Microfinance banks are currently being used by these fraudsters because they are not yet compliant with the Bank Verification Number system.

In recent times, one of the new modes of fraud in the Capital Markets is Portfolio Management Scams. Under this method, the investor is persuaded to release his shares to the stock broking firm hoping to receive the promised returns which the stock broking firm may not honour.

Meanwhile all the shares of the investor will be sold by the stock broking firm and the proceeds used for other personal interest, making it difficult for the stock broking firm to buy back the shares for the investor when required.

This is similar to Ponzi Schemes in which the fraudster promises their target huge returns as interest on their money. The only difference is that under Portfolio Management, the investors’ releases his/her shares to be sold by the stock broker, while in a pure ponzi scheme, cash is paid to the fraudster.

Adesola Kolawole Amusan, Head, Capital Markets and Insurance Unit, Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, who threw light on this scams, strongly recommended that members of the public should regularly log into the websites of Nigerian Stock Exchange – NSE(www.nigeriastockexchange.com), Securities and Exchange Commission – SEC (www.sec.gov.ng), and Central Securities Clearing System – CSCS(www.cscsnigeria.com) to verify the status of any Stock Broking Firm whether the firm is registered or under suspension, before subscribing to any of their offers.

Further to this, he warned investors not to give their hard earned money to any individual or company that promises to turn their money around within a short period with a guarantee to pay them huge returns that are in excess of the average returns in the financial system.

He also advised the shareholders to obtain and fill a trade alert form with the CSCS which will enable them to receive “alerts” any time there is a transaction on their stock broking accounts.

Amusan appealed to the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) to consider bringing Micro Finance Banks to comply with the Bank Verification Number (BVN) scheme so as to curtail fraud still being perpetrated through them so as to bring an end to the practice of fraudulent clearing of cheques.
