Nigerian Model Falls On the Runway During Catwalk In Lagos.

A Supermodel took a tumble as she strutted her stuff on the catwalk.
The unfortunate fashionista hit the deck in front of a crowd of photographers at a show in Nigeria.
Having made her way successfully down most of the catwalk, the Kinabuti model went flying after misjudging her footing.
And to add to her misery, a waiting snapper captured the dramatic moment she fell to the floor.

Gone ... after trying to regain balance the model ended up hitting the deck
The incident mirrors the infamous catwalk fall suffered by Naomi Campbell at the Paris Fashion Week.
Diva Naomi donned huge heels at the Vivienne Westwood show when she fell to the floor in 1993.
But it will come as little consolation to the latest catwalk casualty that even the best can’t always stay on their feet.
Heels were the undoing of the foolhardy Nigerian model pictured at the Lagos show yesterday.

Diva fall ... Naomi Campbell's famous tumble during 1993 Paris show
After realising she couldn’t stay on her feet, she flayed her arms to attempt to regain her balance.
But it wasn’t to be and the model who was showing off a brightly-coloured dress crashed to the floor.
Following the model’s mishap, the rest of the Carnival in the Desert show went without incident.

Magazine Rack- 2Face Covers Bubbles Magazine.

The April edition of Nigeria’s entertainment magazine, Bubbles, has a ground breaking image of Africa’s pop icon, the one and only 2baba. It’s not just any cover, mind you; Bubbles went out on a ledge to create a portrait of 2baba in all his regal glory on a never before seen reflective cover. The first 3,000 readers to pick up their copies will get the special limited edition cover, while other readers will have to make do with the regular cover. This edition combines a couple of firsts: the colourful portraiture and the reflective cover is one of a kind. The magazine features Chidinma who talks about her plans for the future and Praiz who incidentally contested on Project Fame the year after Chidinma. 2face is the main feature of the magazine and it’s out on the streets now!

Miss Kwaghdoo Kakaan Emerges 2nd Runner Up At Miss Africa Uttah Pageant.

Kwaghdoo Kakaan was born in Benue State, Nigeria, West Africa. Today, she represented her home country Nigeria. She arrived to the USA when she was only 11 years old. The two events in her life she considers most important was coming to the United States and also being accepted into a prestigious University such as Brigham Young University. Kwaghdoo attended both middle and High school in Washington DC. In High school she was the debate team captain and she also graduated 2nd in her class (salutatorian). She hopes to graduate college with a degree in Exercise Science and go onto medical school. The three words/ phrases that best describes Kwaghdoo are down to earth, caring and ambitious. Her hobbies include reading, listening to music, dancing, hanging out with friends and watching/playing soccer. Her platform for Miss Africa Utah is to help raise awareness to people in Africa specifically women who aren’t educated and are forced to stay home and raise children instead of getting a job to help their families. The cycle has to be broken and in order to do that, people need to be aware of the situation and try to help in some way. Since the youth are the leaders of tomorrow.
Miss Ghana was first runner up at the event while Miss Somalia was the winner to clinch the title of Miss Africa Uttah.

Liverpool Striker Luis Suarez Receives 10 Match Ban By FA.

Liverpool striker Luis Suarez has being suspended for ten matches after violent conduct chargeLuis Suarez has been suspended for a total of ten matches after an Independent Regulatory Commission today ruled on a charge of violent conduct.
A three-person Independent Regulatory Commission today upheld The FA’s claim that a suspension of three matches was clearly insufficient and the player will serve a further seven first-team matches in addition to the standard three. The suspension begins with immediate effect.
This follows an incident with Chelsea’s Branislav Ivanovic in Sunday’s fixture at Anfield.
The Liverpool forward had accepted a charge of violent conduct but had denied The FA’s claim that the standard three-match sanction was insufficient for the offence.’.
Suarez has until midday on Friday 26 April to appeal the additional suspension, above the standard three matches.

Senate Minority Leader, Senator George Akume Mourns His Deputy ,ChiefOgiri Ajene.

I received with rude shock the news of the death of a colleague, a friend and my Deputy when I was the Executive Governor of Benue state, Chief Ogiri Ajene, and I write on behalf of my family and the good people of Benue North-West Senatorial District to commiserate with his immediate family, Obi Local Government, the Igede nation and Benue State at large.

Chief Ajene was a man I knew for a long time and worked intimately with for eight memorable years. He was from the lineage of very honourable and hardworking men and so he distinguished himself by his sheer brilliance, diligence, discipline and doggedness.

He was affable, and a motivating worker. We were a team and his sense of loyalty to the cause we espoused and worked for never swayed. At no point throughout the years we were together did I have any cause to doubt his allegiance and competence. His preoccupation was to provide the best for the people, and his humility at every turn was perhaps one of his strongest points and I believe history will remember him as one of the few Deputy Governors of that era that never rebelled against his boss.

The death of this fine and extraordinary man has left a gap that will be very difficult to fill, however we are consoled by his legacies. To me it is a personal and a heartrending tragedy. He was indeed a man of many virtues and he will be remembered by many for the passion he had for his people.

We have lost a rare gem but may his soul be granted eternal peace in the bosom of the Lord.

The brother of famed rapper Trina, Wilbrent "Gonk" Bain was shot and killed in Miami, Florida this morning.  According to police reports,  Gonk, who was pronounced dead at the scene, was murdered by Ron Dobson, a neighbor he'd been feuding with.   A neighbor named "Trimel" told the local NBC affiliate, 6 South Florida, "It hit me hard because I just talked to him. This killing has to stop. It has to. All of us grew up together and that's just senseless."

Trimel suggested that easy access to weapons is an ongoing problem in the area.  "It's a gun problem more than anything because anyone can just get a gun. I guarantee if you walk around this neighborhood now I bet you you'll get it."

Though little has been revealed about what ignited the argument between the men, it was reported that Gonk survived a 2008 shooting and had a record of gun possession, burglary, drugs, and domestic violence involving strangulation.Police stated that Ron has confessed to the killing and is charged with second-degree murder. So far...Trina has not spoken publicly about her family's loss.

N544Billion Required To Increase Power Generation To 20,000mw By 2016.

The Federal Government will require about N544 billion or 3.4 billion dollars to increase power generation from 4,800mw to 20,000mw by 2016.
Prof. Chinedu Nebo, the Minister of Power, announced this on Monday at the Presidential Power Reform Transaction signing ceremony in Abuja.
Mr. Nebo said that there would be massive power increase from the current wheeling capacity of about 4,800mw, noting that the Federal Government planned to achieve 10,000mw in 2014 and 20,000mw in 2016.

"A total sum of 3.4 billion U.S. dollars is needed to achieve this target to bring the nation's transmission grid to the level at which it can evacuate all the generated power."
Mr. Nebo explained that the current installed available generation capacity had risen to 6,000mw while generation capability had increased to 5,228mw with peak generation above 4,500mw.
He said that government was expecting an additional 2,200mw from the National Integrated Power Projects.
The minister said that 1,896mw was expected from Independent Power Producers (IPPs), while 292mw and 514mw were expected from the Federal Government legal assets before the end of 2013.
He said the Federal Government was also investing heavily to boost generation through the large, medium and small Hydro plants with the total capacity of over 4,234mw.
Mr. Nebo listed the Hydro generation plants to include Zungeru, 700mw; Mambilla, 3050mw; Gurara second phase, 360mw; Itsi, 40mw and small Hydro plant, 84mw.
He observed that the Power Reform Sector had not been all that smooth due to the labour issues which had setback the reform.
Mr. Nebo, however, said that before the end of 2013, the Federal Government would have addressed all the labour issues.
He said that the sale of Afam Power Plant and Kaduna Distribution Companies was now on-going.
The minister explained that an enabling environment had been created by government in the Electricity Power Sector Reform Act of 2005 to protect both local and foreign investors.
He said government had empowered the Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission as the sector regulator to ensure that "there is fair tariff for both consumers and suppliers of power".
Mr. Nebo added that government had initiated policies such as the review of Electricity Power Policy to establish and implement policies on Renewable Energy. (NAN)

What? No New Book in 22 Years? This Is Serious

Candid Joe Wrote This in Daily Trust.

I hope you heard this tale from Benue, which is taller than a heap of pounded yam assembled at a Tiv traditional wedding party.
The Benue State Library in Makurdi last bought a book in 1991, and that is official. According to Mr Shima Kosu, the deputy director of the Benue Library Board, the library bought some new books when the library building was commissioned in 1991 and since then, not one new book of any kind has been bought by the "library." It did get a few new books over the years but not due to its own efforts; Kosu said Book Aid International donated some books to the library, though even that was 7 years ago.

Mr Kosu said several other interesting things. He dismissed insinuations in some digital-age quarters that it is the coming of e-books that is threatening the local library, and he clearly has a point because when the Benue State Government last voted money for the purchase of library books, there was probably no personal computer anywhere in Benue State, not to mention internet service or e-book. Not only that. Even in the days when the books were being bought, the deputy director said "books were supplied regardless of their relevance to the reading needs of the public". Besides, he said local publishers who are bound by law to deposit copies of their books in local libraries no longer bother to do so.

The Benue State Government voted not a single kobo to buy books in 22 years. That is real foresight on its part. However, in that time period, I will like to know how many times it changed Government House furniture, beddings and cutlery,am also aware that a New Government House has being built. I am sure that no new First Lady worth her salt who arrives at the Government House in Makurdi would agree to use the same cutlery that was used by her predecessor, not to mention to sleep in the same beds, mattresses and beddings that were used by the former First Couple. I doubt if anyone can count the number of times that Benue Government House changed its protocol and security cars, how many times it repainted its walls and how many times it changed air conditioners, security gadgets and wall to wall carpets in order that visitors to Makurdi will receive a befitting reception. But it forgot to vote a single kobo for the purchase of library books. Well done. Quite a transformation agenda that operates in Benue!
