Sadiq Abubakar: NAF acquires 30 aircraft, activates 13 in 3 years — CAS

The Chief of Air Staff, Air Marshall Sadiq Abubakar, has said that the Nigerian Air Force (NAF) acquired 30 aircraft and activated 13 grounded ones in the last three years.

Abubakar disclosed this on Saturday at the inauguration of the new Headquarters of Air Training Command, and the Sports complex at the Air Force Comprehensive School in Kaduna.

He said professionalism was about providing serviceable equipment and making case to the Federal Government to provide equipment required.

“I am very happy in the last three years, we were able to acquire 18 aircraft, similarly the Federal Government have paid for additional 12 aircraft, if put together is 30,” Abubakar said.

“Professionalism is also ensuring that we activate what currently we have; hence we embarked on renovation of our grounded aircraft.

“So far, we have activated 13 aircraft and working on the 14 to15 ones both in Port Harcourt in Rivers State,’’ Abubakar said.

According to him, professionalism is having the right structure, hence the decision to unbundle the former Training Command to Air Training Command and Ground Training Command.

He disclosed that the NAF increased its manpower from 1,000 a year to 1,500 minimum annually.

“We also recognised the need to have required numbers of officers, in addition to the one coming from Nigerian Defence Academy (NDA) and that is why we enlisted 400 Direct Short Service Commission Officers’’he said.

The CAS also pledged to improve the welfare of personnel hence it embarked on construction of accommodation and renovation of existing ones including office accommodation.

He said that the NAF was able to make the achievements through the support of President Muhammadu Buhari.

Earlier, the Air Officer Commanding (AOC) Air Training Command, AVM Muhammad Idris, commended Abubakar for his visionary and well thought leadership.

He said the construction of the air training command headquarters was completed in eight months.

Viral video of lady pooing directly into Yahoo boy’s mouth for alleged money ritual

A video making rounds on social media, shows an unidentified lady pooing directly into a yahoo boy’s mouth for alleged money ritual.

The disgusting video which shows the lady pooing directly into a yahoo boy’s mouth for alleged money ritual, can be watched here (viewers discretion is advised).

Recall few months ago, an unidentified internet fraudster a.k.a Yahoo boy, who reportedly confessed to making N1.8 billion before retiring from cyber fraud business, exposed methods in which various scams and money rituals are carried out in Nigeria.

The post reads in part;

“Ok as a former yahoo boy, I can say that some of this things are true and some are lies. You see that faeces thing is a lie! The faeces will be burnt so you can’t smell it anymore but it’s very potent because the person who has the the poo will die and this isn’t even for yahoo, it is blood money direct. Although if yahoo boy does it, it is automatic explosion for the person.

“Another one is that hating in public space. The babalawo is just trying to scam the yahoo boy thinking he won’t be able to do it. However, wiping of punani (lady part) after intercourse is true. There is also one that you sleep and cvm inside the girl after bathing a soap and she won’t get pregnant again and if she does, she must miscarry. That one too is very potent and many slay queens have been used for this but they don’t know yet!

“Licking honey is a big fat lie. It can only work for one on one. It can’t work for someone overseas. When I was active, the one I know that is 100% is the one that you tie the person’s picture with thread and bury it beside the grave of a person whose gender is same as the person you want to hit.

“After the person sends you money, you must buy ram and wear one tira round its neck. The ram will die overnight! A Lagos big girl that does aristo and uses this on senators actually took me to where I did this one and the lady has been mentioned online over and over again.”

CACOL asks Buhari's aide , Obonlo-Obla to resign over certificate forgery.

Okoi Obono-Obla

President  Muhammadu Buhari yesterday accepted the resignation of the Minister of Finance, Mrs Kemi Adeosun. Special Adviser to the President (Media and Publicity), Mr Femi Adesina, in a statement last night said “the President thanked the Minister for her services to the nation and wished her well in her future pursuits”.

According to the statement,  “the President also approved that the Minister of State Budget and National Planning, Mrs Zainab Ahmed should oversee the Ministry of Finance with effect from today (yesterday).

The minister had been enmeshed in controversy for allegedly presenting a forged National Youth Service Corps, NYSC, exemption certificate, during her confirmation by the National Assembly as a member of the Federal Executive Council. The allegation prompted series of calls on her to honourably resign her position.

In her resignation letter dated September 14 2018 addressed to President Muhammadu Buhari, she said that the finding of an investigation on her NYSC Exemption Certificate which was discovered not to be genuine came to her as a shock and the honourable thing for left for her was to resign.

The Minister’s resignation letter read in full:

“Dear Excellency, let me commence by thanking you profusely for the honour and privilege of serving under your inspirational leadership. It has been a truly rewarding experience to learn from you and to observe at close quarters your integrity and sense of duty.

I have, today, become privy to the findings of the investigation into the allegation made in an online medium that the Certificate of Exemption from National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) that I had presented was not genuine. This has come as a shock to me and I believe that in line with this administration’s focus on integrity, I must do the honourable thing and resign.

“Your Excellency, kindly permit me to outline some of the background to this matter. I was born and raised in the United Kingdom, indeed my parental family home remains in London. My visits to Nigeria up until the age of thirty-four (34) were holidays, with visas obtained in my UK passport. I obtained my first Nigerian passport at the age of thirty-four (34) and when I relocated there was debate as to whether NYSC Law applied to me. Upon enquiry as to my status relating to NYSC, I was informed that due to my residency history and having exceeded the age of thirty (30), I was exempted from the requirement to serve. Until recent events, that remained my understanding.

“On the basis of that advice and with the guidance and assistance of those, I thought were trusted associates, NYSC were approached for documentary proof of status. I then received the certificate in question. Having never worked in NYSC, visited the premises, been privy to nor familiar with their operations, I had no reason to suspect that the certificate was anything but genuine. Indeed,I presented that certificate at the 2011 Ogun State House of Assembly and in 2015 for Directorate of State Services (DSS) Clearance as well as to the National Assembly for screening. Be that as it may, as someone totally committed to a culture of probity and accountability I have decided to resign with effect from Friday, 14th September, 2018.

“Your Excellency, it has been an exceptional privilege to have served our nation under your leadership and to have played a role in steering our economy at a very challenging time. I am proud that Nigeria has brought discipline into its finances, has identified and is pursuing a path to long term sustainable growth that will unlock the potential in this great economy. Under your leadership, Nigeria was able to exit recession and has now started to lay the foundations for lasting growth and wealth creation. Repositioning this huge economy is not a short term task and there are no short cuts, indeed there are tough decisions still to be made but I have no doubt that your focus on infrastructural investment, revenue mobilisation and value for money in public expenditure will deliver growth, wealth and opportunity for all Nigerians.

“I thank His Excellency, the Vice President  and  my  colleagues in the Federal Executive Council for the huge pleasure and honour of working with them.  I also thank most specially, the team in the  ‘Finance Family’  of   advisers and heads of agencies under the Ministry of Finance. Your Excellency,  this  group  of committed Nigerians  represent  a range of backgrounds, ethnicities and ages. They have worked well above and beyond the call of duty to support me in the tasks assigned. The diversity in my team and their ability to work cohesively to deliver reforms, convinces me that Nigeria has the human capital required to succeed.

“Your Excellency, let me conclude by commending your patience and support, during the long search for the truth in this matter. I thank you  again  for giving me the  honour  of serving under your leadership, it is a rare privilege, which I do not take for granted.  As a Nigerian and committed  progressive,  I    appreciate  you for your dogged commitment to improving this nation.

“Please be assured, as always, of my highest regards and best wishes”

Meanwhile, the Centre for Anti-Corruption and Open Leadership, CACOL, which had earlier called on the Minister to resign her appointment also demanded the resignation of President Buhari’s Special Assistant on Prosecutions, Mr Obonlo-Obla saying that his position was even less acceptable given the fact that it pertained to the forgery of a school certificate result.

The executive chairman of the centre, Comrade Debo Adeniran in a statement said Obla should also resign.

According to him, “ We could as well say that Adeosun has completed her course, only that she didn’t do the mandatoryone year service, but for Obno-Obola, that is even worse, that means that he doesn’t have he does’t  have the technical capability to carry out the duties he is carrying on. So, he should be made to resign,” he said

ABU to get N800m ecological project – SGF

Boss Mustapha, the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, said on Friday that the government had earmarked N800 million for the execution of ecological projects in Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, Kaduna State.

Mustapha made the disclosure as the Special Guest of Honour at the 13th Annual General Assembly Public Lecture held at the ABU main campus, Samaru, Zaria, Kaduna State.

The lecture was organised by the ABU Alumni Association.

Mustapha said: “Mr. Vice Chancellor, I have good news for you. Under my office as the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, we have a department that deals with ecological projects.

“We have undertaken one project here at the second phase, a project that will cost about N800 million has been approved for the university. Of course it’s time to give back to our alma mater.”

Mustapha said as an alumnus of the university, he was highly excited that ABU was rated high among universities on the continent.

The SGF said the success story was made possible, partly by the diligent and focused impact of ABU Alumni Association as well as the contributions of its members.

He said such contributions were for the university and the growth and development of Nigeria.

Mustapha said during his days in the university, students made friends at very intimate levels without prejudice to the region, religion or ethnic groups they belonged.

He said: “We had genuine relationships that saw us behaving as Nigerian students first before other considerations.

“It is possible to rekindle those feelings and extrapolate same to the national level to enable Nigeria truly achieve a nation devoid of prejudices and other primordial sentiments.

“I make bold to state that the giant strides as well as conscious strategic planning by President Muhammadu Buhari-led administration in this direction in respect of attempt to evolving a true nation among Nigerians is like no other since the return to democracy in 1999.

“The administration, fully conscious of various sociological tendencies that in many African nations resulted in chaos and fiasco, has weathered the tendencies and pulled through despite many attempts to distract the president from delivering his and APC’s campaign promises.”

Mustapha assured students, youths and other Nigerians that the present administration was doing everything possible to ensure a brighter future for the citizens.

In a paper entitled: “Repositioning Education for National Development,” Hadiza Bala Usman, the Managing Director, Nigerian Ports Authority, appreciated the alumni association for being alive to its responsibilities.

Usman said: “I want to appreciate the alumni association for continually awakening the consciousness of all students as well as succeeding administrations of the school to the important task of sustaining culture of excellence for which ABU is known within and outside of the country.

“I want to register my desire to improving the standard of Ahmadu Bello University. Education is the reason why we are here today, I am a stakeholder in this aspect.

“I am a child of ABU, whatever I present here is because of the fact that I was nurtured, born and brought up in ABU, it is my desire to see how ABU can be repositioned and indeed education in Nigeria can be repositioned.

“Of course, if the education sector is repositioned it will give us the kind of leadership and government the society deserves.”

The ABU Vice Chancellor, Prof. Ibrahim Garba, said the university had no choice but to restructure but not in the way that people were calling for restructuring of the country.

Garba said: “We have restructured and continue to restructure our academic delivery system. Our faculties have before now remained a cage, they have refused to grow and refused to modernise.

“One of the tasks of the success story is really to make sure that our university is competitive on the global scale such that we also give more access to the teaming countries that always solicit coming to this university.

“We have already achieved the restructuring or the break-up of the Faculty of Science into two Faculties now. We used to have a situation where one department in the former Faculty of Science was awarding three degrees.

“And there were quite a few of those departments, now we have Faculty of Physical Sciences and Faculty of Live Science but the biggest is breaking of the long-time standing culture of keeping a small republic called Kongo Campus.”

Garba said the Accounting Department and Business Administration Department had been moved from Kongo and merged with Economics Department at the main campus to form a brand new “ABU Business School”.

Arewa youths speak on Buhari govt favouring north, react to Bichi’s appointment as DG DSS

The youth wing of the Arewa Consultative Forum, ACF, has declared that the President Muhammadu Buhari-led government is not sectional as being speculated in some quarters.

Speaking with Dailypost, President of the Forum, Yerima Shettima, insisted that the Buhari government was not sectional because even the Northern part of the country was not “feeling any impact” of his administration.

Shettima said this while reacting to Buhari’s appointment of Yusuf Magaji Bichi as the substantive Director-General of the Department of State Security, DSS.

Bichi’s appointment generated controversies from all corners, with many accusing the president of nepotism.

Reacting to the appointment, Shettima said Buhari reserved the right to appoint who he feels would be loyal to him.

The ACF President stressed that Buhari may have lost confidence in the former Acting DSS DG, Seiyifa reason his appointment was not confirmed.

He said, “The appointment is at the discretion of the President. It is his right to appoint anyone in that capacity and it has to do with secret and you can’t give your secrets to someone you doubt, especially with the way politics is these days.

“To me, I see no issue there even though we are aware of the fact that Seiyifa was to retire any moment from now, but that not withstanding, if you can give somebody who is retired the appointment what about this one that is still in the service?

“However, maybe the President has no confidence in Sieyifa and I hope he gave the appointment in the interest of the country and on personal grounds.

“Loyalty to Nigeria must be hundred percent. Interest of the country must come first before any political appointment otherwise he will be remembered for his actions.”

On Bichi’s appointment portraying the Buhari government as being sectional, the ACF youth president said, “Well, for me every Commander-in-Chief will always look at people that are loyal to him and will always be on his side whenever this is any problem.

“Some of us feel that the Buhari government is running like a syndicate that only favours a few individuals and I think government should be all inclusive. Sectionally, I will say no because the North has seen the worst in terms of suffering.

“In area of education and everything we are the most suffered region, so he is not sectional. Some of us in the North are crying because we have been shortchanged.

“The Buhari government is in the hands of a few individuals and everything fails in that light.

“So, when you say sectional is like it is strictly a Northern affair but we are also not feeling any impact here.”

Britain tracks corrupt money from Nigeria, Russia, others

Britain is significantly stepping up efforts to tackle the corrupt money funnelled by Russians and other “corrupt elites” from countries such as Nigeria and China into or through the United Kingdom, a senior police officer said on Friday.

After the poisoning of former Russian spy Sergei Skripal and his daughter in March, an attack Britain has blamed on Russia, Prime Minister Theresa May promised to tackle illegal fortunes held by foreign nationals living in the United Kingdom.

“We have significantly scaled up the work that we are doing,” said Donald Toon, Director of Prosperity at Britain’s National Crime Agency. “We are absolutely looking at Russians … but we are not exclusively looking at Russians and Russian assets.”

Investors from Russia, China and the Middle East have poured billions into London, buying everything from luxury properties to entire companies, but the source of some of the wealth has been questioned by transparency campaigners.

Toon said Britain was a very attractive destination for corrupt foreign money, especially from Russia, Nigeria, Pakistan, former Soviet states and the Far East, and the NCA estimates that some 100 billion pounds of dirty money is moved through or into Britain each year.

Toon said in the next few months the NCA was expecting to expand its use of Unexplained Wealth Orders, one means by which the assets of corrupt “politically exposed persons” or those with links to serious crime can be seized.

So far, assets worth about 25 million pounds have been frozen using UWOs.

Toon admitted the process was difficult and time-consuming as each case had to be taken through the courts.

“Some people in that space absolutely have directly and immediately something to fear because they are subjects of cases we are working on,” he said.

“The fact you are not seeing big numbers at the moment does not mean we are not doing the work, because we are. You will see that come through in the courts; it will take time but you will see it. It takes time because the people who holds these assets are not stupid.”

Individuals using complex company structures to hide their links to assets were increasingly moving these from British crown dependencies and overseas territories to other jurisdictions because of their greater cooperation with the authorities.

He cited the Cayman Islands as one destination that was causing them problems.

“We are asking for information that we don’t get,” he said. “The Cayman government is entirely aware of the UK’s concern.”

2019: Saraki will rule for just four years and put the country in order- Primate Ayodele

The founder of INRI Evangelical Spiritual Church, Primate Elijah Ayodele, has declared that the Senate President, Bukola Saraki will rule Nigeria for just four years.

Ayodele disclosed that God told him that Nigeria will be in order if Saraki becomes President.

Speaking with The Sun, Ayodele also said the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, will defeat any party only if they stay united.

He said, “Saraki will rule for just four years and put the country in order. I am talking as a prophet of God. I said in 2015 that so many things will happen in Buhari administration and it happened. If PDP puts their house in order; that is what will defeat any party.

“If PDP wants to do well, let them be united, and know what they are doing and do the right thing. I don’t belong to any party.”

He also warned that those defecting from one party to another with corruption cases will end up in jail.

“Most people who are defecting will still land in jail because judgment is coming to all Nigerian leaders. Those who are defecting now are not seeing the consequences ahead of them.

“The forefathers of this nation are not asleep; they want to revenge, we have done a lot of blood sacrifice and that is why things are happening like this.

“It is politics everywhere. They are just doing packaging; nobody is talking about anything that is happening to Nigerians, or how they feel.

“I am not giving any opinion; there is poverty everywhere and because of this, people will vote against their conscience because this is the election of the highest bidder. People will not want to vote for the people they want, but they will vote for a temporal bail out, and that will not settle the case,” he said.

The prophet also warned that true federalism will lead to Nigeria’s breakup.

“True federalism will break Nigeria. Wrong practice of democracy and bloodbath will break the country. It will all start when a shocking referendum will be staged,” he added

Osun Guber: PDP charges Buhari to unfreeze Davido, Adeleke, family’s accounts

EFCC operatives

The Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, has  charged President Muhammadu Buhari to direct the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, to immediately unfreeze the private account of the PDP governorship aspirant in the September 22, 2018 Osun election, Senator Isiaka Adeleke, and those of his family members, including music star, David Adeleke, also known as Davido.
The party condemned the freezing of the accounts, describing it as “oppressive, tyrannical, provocative and a direct recipe for crisis in the state, given that the people of Osun are solidly behind Adeleke ahead of the election.”

In a statement by its National Publicity Secretary, Kola Ologbondiyan, the party said the “freezing of the Adelekes’ accounts by an agency of the All Progressives Congress (APC)-led Federal Government, a week to the governorship election, underscores the fact that APC is mortally afraid of our candidate and has been seeking ways to undermine his electoral fortunes.”

PDP however, directed its members, including state governors, officials at zonal and state chapters, national and states assembly members, all presidential and governorship aspirants as well as other stakeholders, particularly, in the southwest zone, to immediately commence movement into Osun state with their political machinery to campaign and support the PDP candidate.

The statement partly reads thus:

“Such savage attack on innocent citizens confirms the viciousness of the Buhari-led APC administration to use any means whatsoever to subjugate Nigerians and appropriate power to itself at all cost.

Does it not smack of political brutality that President Buhari approved the secret release of N16.6 billion to  Osun APC to pay thugs to manhandle voters and rig the election, while his EFCC is unleashed to freeze the legitimate account of our candidate and his family not minding the collateral damage such would have on millions that benefit from the goodwill of the family?

What President Buhari and his APC do not understand is that theirs is a den of thieves and that the leaders of the APC are frittering the N16 billion away.

Moreover, the people of Osun state are completely behind Senator Adeleke and will freely vote for him irrespective of the machinations of the Buhari-led APC.

The PDP therefore calls on the people of Osun state to collectively condemn this wickedness meted out on their son and members of his family and ensure that they use their votes to make a resounding statement against the APC by voting enmasse for their beloved son, come September 22, 2018. Enough is enough!”

Ekiti workers accuse Fayose of blowing N3bn on chartered flights

Ayodele Fayose

Ado-Ekiti-A section of Ekiti State workers under the auspices of Enlightened Workers Forum (EWF) have accused Governor Ayodele Fayose of spending N3 billion on chartered flights across the country in pursuit of political and personal affairs.

The angry workers alleged that Fayose spends N26 million of state funds monthly on chartered flights which “has dug a big hole in the Ekiti treasury.”

The EWF in a statement on Saturday by its Coordinator, Mike Bamidele, lamented that this usual habit of the Governor which according to them, constituted no significant value to governance in the state, has become a burden on the state finances

The workers’ pressure group alleged that Fayose junkets to Abuja, Lagos and Port Harcourt “where he has personal and political interests leaving governance to suffer abysmally at home in Ekiti.”

The statement reads in part: “We are in possession of evidence of how the governor frequently flew members of his family and women of easy

virtues in and out of the state and to locations, where he spends weekends and usually holidays with his associates.

“For 47 months, the governor was said to have made countless trips and checks at aviation hiring companies were said to have revealed a mind-boggling accumulation of flight time logs that runs into a
monthly average of N26 million Naira.

Comprehensive checks at aviation companies, showed that a jet costs about 2,500 Dollars per hour and a round trip costs around $20,000-$40,000 (dollars) depending on the whims of the client, who
sometimes delay planes for hours to conclude their affairs.

While reacting, the Commissioner for Information, Mr. Lanre Ogunsuyi, described the allegation as a “figment of infantile imagination of EWF.”

Describing the EWF as “unenlightened,” Ogunsuyi as untrue. He said the group was only playing to the gallery to please the opposition which he described as its political paymasters.

“The allegation is untrue, does the governor charter plane to everywhere he goes every month? We are waiting for their so-called evidence to prove their allegations.”

2018: World Bank approves 62 micro projects for Kogi communities

The World Bank has approved 62 micro projects for Kogi communities under the State Community and Social Development Agency (KSCSDA) for execution across the state in 2018.

Malam Dauda Momoh, General Manager of the agency, disclosed this in an interview on Saturday in Lokoja.

He said that the 62 micro projects were part of the Community Development Projects (CDPs) approved by the World Bank for execution in the state this year.

He said each CDP has an envelope of about N10 million for a minimum of two micro projects, adding that 10 micro projects were ongoing in the state before the further approval of 52 for this year.

He stated that the projects cut across areas like education, health, access roads, electricity and viewing centres in various communities based on their needs.

“CSDA is all about touching lives. It’s all about giving the poor a hope to live. That is what the project is all about.”

He said that it was in view of the importance and urgency to kick-start the projects after almost a year of inactivity that the agency held a stakeholders’ training during the week.

The training, according to him, was aimed at sensitising the stakeholders on how we operate because most people don’t know how we operate.

Momoh, however, pointed out that from 2019, the CSDA would intervene only in approved focal Local Government Areas against the former practice of covering all areas at once.

“Before, we used to intervene in all the local government areas but a new dimension has been introduced by the World Bank and in this case, we will intervene in seven focal LGAs to be approved by the state government at a time.

He said that Gov. Yahaya Bello had approved seven LGAs selected from the three senatorial districts for intervention from 2019, but the sensitisation had to start immediately.

The seven LGAs for 2019 interventions including Ajaokuta, Ibaji, Okehi, Okene, Ijumu, Kogi, and Olamaboro and they were selected using the state poverty map, adding that another set of seven LGAs would be approved for 2020.

He noted that the number of micro projects for 2019 would be above 92 as against 62 for this year.

Momoh reiterated that efforts would be made to exploit the Additional Financing window for more interventions as it is expected to expire in 2020. (NAN)

“My Hands Are Tied On Ambode’s 2nd Term” – Tinubu To Pastor Adeboye

The controversies surrounding the second term bid of Governor Akinwunmi Ambode of Lagos State continues, as Tinubu recently told Pastor Adeboye that his hands are tied.

According to reports, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu told the General Overseer of the Redeemed Christians Church of God, Pastor Adeboye, that he (Tinubu), will not prevail on any of the aspirants to step down.

In the text message which has since gone viral, Tinubu told Pastor Adeboye that:

“Sir, people have been accusing me of imposition. They say I imposed candidates at will. That’s why I said all aspirants including the governor to get to the field and test their popularity among the people in an open contest of direct primaries.

“Sir, my hands are tied on his matter, I cannot ask those who have picked the expression of interest and nomination forms to withdraw or not contest. That will be greatly unfair. We will ensure a level-playing ground for all the governorship aspirants including the incumbent governor.”

An anonymous source close to Tinubu confirmed that there was a conversation between the APC leader and Pastor Adeboye on Ambode’s second term. He said;

“It’s true that baba (Pastor Adeboye) had intervened and Asiwaju also responded.

Why Kemi Adeosun shouldn’t be prosecuted over forged NYSC certificate – Reno Omokri

Kemi Adeosun’s resignation yesterday definitely broke the Nigerian internet. While many called for her prosecution over the issue of forging her National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) certificate, well some others praised her for taking the bull by the horn and doing what’s right.

However, Most of these comments were based on the initial reactions upon hearing the news but This changed after people read her resignation letter.

Reno Omokri had earlier asked president Muhammadu Buhari to treat her, how he treats members of People’s Democratic Party but has now had a U-turn.

According to the former presidential aide, Adeosun shouldn’t be prosecuted because he believes the forged certificate was a honest mistake.

He wrote via twitter thus:

Kemi Adeosun, @HMKemiAdeosun, claims she did not know her @nysc_ng exemption certificate was forged and I believe her. I read her letter and it made sense. Ordinarily, I would have called for her prosecution, but this was a honest mistake and she shouldn’t be punished #RenosDarts

Why replace Kemi Adeosun with another Northerner – Nigerians vent

Kemi Adeosun dropped her resignation on Friday after the certificate forgery scandal.

To replace her, President Muhammadu Buhari approved that the Minister of State Budget and National Planning, Mrs Zainab Ahmed.

Ahmed is to henceforth oversee the Ministry of Finance with effect from today, September 15th.

However, the appointment of Zainab Ahmed, a northerner has sparked national debate. While some have argued that priority shouldn’t be placed on the tribe of the appointee but on her qualifications, some others say Buhari is tribalistic.

See reactions below

Zainab Ahmed appointed as the new finance minister.

After appointing another Muslim Northerner to head DSS, @Mbuhari replaced @HMKemiAdeosun with a Muslim Northerner, Zainab Ahmed. If given the chance, the nepotic Buhari will replace even the President of the Christian Association of Nigeria with a Northern Muslim! #RenosDarts

This Zainab Ahmed's appointment made me understand that In Nigeria, when government makes any appointment, the first thing her citizens look out for is his/her tribe, religion and region instead of CV and competence. And you are wondering why we are not growing as a country

— Your Village People (@Onyema_Donald) September 14, 2018

Why are y'all focused on Zainab Ahmed being a Northerner rather than being competent?
Did anyone Atleast try to check her CV? I guess not.
Buhari has the right to appoint anyone, so far he can trust and work with them.

Zainab Ahmed is a Nigerian and if she's good so be it pic.twitter.com/e6sF3mWSjH

Two consecutive Northern Muslims appointments by Buhari in 24 hoursThis man unapologetically Tribalistic and Sectional.

We have not recovered from Yusuf Magaji Bichi's controversial appointment, we've yet been hit by another Zainab Ahmed.

Nigeria has been sold!!!

— OONI OF ABUJA (@Deji_Blissfield) September 14, 2018

When a northerner was announced the new dss boss, we called it tribalism, they argued that position was originally held by a northerner.Fayemi resigned, a notherner took over and today Zainab Ahmed is taking a position originally held by the west. Tribe has always been a prob.

I was blackmailed and defrauded of N75m – Toyin Texas, alleged Lagos lagoon suicide victim

Mrs. Akinloye Oluwatoyin, also known as Toyin Texas has finally explained what really led to the false allegations of her jumping into the Lagos lagoon.

She revealed that she was actually blackmailed and defrauded of 75 million Naira, by a notorious fraud syndicate.
Three months ago, Nigerians were stunned speechless when a woman, later identified as Mrs. Akinloye Oluwatoyin, was said to have jumped off the Third Mainland Bridge, into the Lagoon over an alleged discovery of her nude pictures and that of her lover on the internet.

The Texas-based Nigerian woman, Toyin, went viral as the person that committed suicide in Lagos, later reacted to the rumours, saying she was alive and well.

She didn’t give full details of what was really happening and why she was caught up in the mix back then.

Today, however, Toyin has finally decided to speak out, insisting that everything on social media was just one big pack of lies cooked and served to ensure she stopped seeking justice after a group of fraudsters, including a female friend, an Islamic cleric and Adesanya defrauded her N75million. She said:

“I thought Adesanya was a genuine businessman, who was into selling of fuel at different filling stations. He was also the person who circulated the story that I jumped off the Third Mainland Bridge into the Lagoon over infidelity.

Operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) tried to caution him, but he wouldn’t listen. He was desperate to blackmail and stop me from pursuing the case.”

According to a police source, investigations showed that Toyin was a victim of fraud, “who, fell prey to a notorious fraud syndicate, based in Ijebu-Ode Ogun State, with international connections.” The source further said: “The victim, known as Toyin Texas, lost a total of N75m between March 2017 and January 2018.

The News Telegraph correspondent that on July 2018, Toyin wrote a petition to the police, asking them to ensure the arrest of members of the syndicate.

She further claimed that members of the syndicate were trying to kill her after their blackmail plans failed. Two among the alleged members, Adesanya and Alhaji Ganiu Awojobi, who allegedly played active roles in defrauding the businesswoman as well as publishing her nude pictures, had been arrested by IRT operatives.

The police said that Awojobi, who acted as an Islamic cleric, lured Toyin from America to Nigeria in November under the pretext of praying for her. Adesanya on the other hand, pretended to be a businessman and later defrauded her using a phony oil deal.

The police discovered that Adesanya, alleged to be the leader of the syndicate, had a penchant for defrauding and blackmailing married women, especially rich women in Nigeria and those based overseas.

It was alleged that several pictures of nude women and videos, most of them believed to be married, were recovered from him. Police alleged that Adesanya uses Sherifat as “a catcher” to get unsuspecting women and defraud them.

Adesanya and the prophet were also able to brainwash Toyin into parting with her phone after telling her that her friend, Sherifat took her name to a shrine and that if she received a call with the phone, she would die. She gladly relinquished her phone to Adesanya, which he later converted to his.

The police also alleged that they discovered during investigations that Adesanya was the person who published Toyin’s nude pictures on the internet. Toyin, while narrating her ordeal, said that Adesanya and members of his syndicate caught her through the aid of one of her friends known as Sherifat.

The victim explained that Sherifat, who also resides in US, sometime in November 2016, told her about a vision and message a prophet, living in Nigeria had for her.

This message, incidentally, came a month after the death of Toyin’s younger sister. Sherifat told Toyin, that an Islamic cleric in Nigeria, who used to pray for her, saw a vision and had a message for Toyin.

The cleric prophesied that if Toyin didn’t want to die the way her late sister did, she should be fervent in prayers. Toyin recounted:

“Sherifat lives in the USA and we were close friends.

When this issue started, she was the person who linked me to the Alfa in Nigeria, but I wasn’t talking to the Alfa. She then traveled to London in March 2017 to meet Adesanya, who she had an affair with. She called and told me again that the Alfa told her that my death was looming unless I performed some prayers.”

While Sherifat was speaking with Toyin, Adesanya allegedly collected the phone and spoke with Toyin, stressing that he knew the cleric. He described the cleric as “powerful and well known in Nigeria.”

Toyin recalled: “Adesanya also told me that he had several businesses in Nigeria, including petrol filling stations in Ijebu- Ode, Ogun State. Alfa Awojobi asked for N154, 000 for the prayers; I told Sherri and Otunba that I didn’t have such an amount of money and they offered to pay N100, 000 for me, while I pay the balance. I did what they asked and the Alfa started praying for me.

In April, 2018, the Alfa insisted that I must come to Nigeria for the final prayers. I was really scared and I didn’t want to die the way my younger sister did.

“I traveled to Nigeria and went straight to Alfa at Ijebu-Ode. He asked me to take my bath before entering his house which I did. By midnight, he brought four men and they started praying for me. Alfa said he had seen more visions and had more prophesies concerning my husband children.

I ended up spending N1.5m at the Alfa’s place before returning to America.” She explained that in the midst of all these that Adesanya told her that he wanted her to invest in his oil business.

“He took me round some filling stations in Ijebu- Ode and people greeted him as if he was the owner of the filling stations,” recalled Toyin. “He asked me to invest a huge amount of money and maintained that after a month, I would get back my capital and 50 p e rcent as profit.

I trusted him.”

It was based on that trust that Toyin ran from pillar to post, to borrow N30m.

A month after money was paid, Toyin called Adesanya to ask about the business. “Adesanya got angry and paid back the money into my account, which made her trust him more.

Two months after, the situation still remained the same; Adesanya was not forthcoming with what was going on with business, she decided to cut ties and run.

When she asked for her money, Adesanya told her that things were not going as planned because the money was not enough. He said that he needed more money.

This made Toyin to go looking for more money until she ended up paying as much as N75m. The last batch of money, which was N31m, was paid into Alfa Awojobi’s bank account. She said: “On December 2017, one of Adesanya boys called and told me that I was been defrauded.

I tried to arrest Adesanya with military police, but they couldn’t recover my money. I also got him arrested with policemen in Osun and Ondo states, but he was soon allowed to go.

I reported to operatives of the EFCC and they recovered 21, 000 nude photos and videos of various Nigeria women from him. He claimed that he was very sick and the EFCC granted him bail.

But after his release, he went on the internet and published photoshop nude photos of myself and him, claiming that he had sexual relationship with me, which was a lie! “The EFCC also discovered transactions between the cleric and Adesanya. They were not able to arrest him. Someone advised me to go the IRT through the IG.

Thus, I reported my case and operatives trailed and arrested the cleric and Adesanya.”

Narrating his own story, Alfa Awojobi confessed to the crime, but admitted to have collected only N31m from Toyin. He added: “It was Otunba, my partner, who brought the businesswoman to me. I’m a fraudster.

I joined the syndicate three years ago. I was once a victim before I joined.
I act as an Islamic cleric, locally known as Alfa. It was Otunba that brought Toyin as a job and we defrauded her.

All the money that was paid into my account by the businesswoman was shared between Otunba and I.” Adesanya, rather than face the crime and admit to it as his partner did, preferred to dwell on the nude pictures and his alleged affair with Toyin.

He insisted that he had sexual relationship with her and added that Toyin’s nude pictures were displayed on internet because she first made his arrest public. It was apparently a case of tit for tat.

Artist sells portrait of El-Rufai for N2m, paints it in 2minutes

A 2-minute paint of Gov. El-Rufai that fetches N2m at Youth Summit in Kaduna

Mr Adebayo Seun, a 200 level Fine Arts student of Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, on Saturday sold a portrait of Gov. Nasir El-Rufa’i of Kaduna State, which he painted in two minutes for N2.0 million.

The portrait, painted during Kaduna Emerging Young Leaders Summit held in Kaduna, was bought through an auction within five minutes by Rep. Mohammed Mamadi (APC-Igabi).

Seun told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) that he has never made this much from a painting.

“The highest I ever made was N500, 000. I really thanked the organisers of the event for this life changing opportunity.

`I am so happy and feel so encouraged,’’ he said.Governor El-Rufai with his pencil portrait

Another artist, Abubakar Umar did a pencil drawing of the Governor.

NAN reports that the summit was organised by the state government to break the barriers to youth leadership in the state.

Muhammad Abdullahi, Commissioner, Planning and Budget Commission, said at the opening of the summit in Kaduna that the gathering provided an avenue for the youth to discuss challenges and chart a course for a better tomorrow.

“The summit was organised to bring youth, young professionals and emerging leaders together to discuss societal issues with a view to bring positive change in their communities.

`It is geared towards giving youth a platform to hear, learn, engage and collaborate with young professionals on academic, decision making, and advocacy for societal change and development,’’ he said.

CACOL reveals another Buhari’s aide who should resign now over certificate forgery.

The Centre for Anti-Corruption and Open Leadership, CACOL, has called on President Muhammadu Buhari’s Special Assistant on Prosecutions, Obonlo-Obla, to resign with immediate effect.

This call came following the resignation of Minister of Finance, Kami Adeosun over her NYSC certificate forgery scandal.

CACOL had earlier called on the Minister to resign her appointment.

The Centre said that Obla’s position was even less acceptable given the fact that it pertained to the forgery of a school certificate result.

The Executive Chairman of CACOL, Comrade Debo Adeniran made the call in a statement yesterday.

The statement added, “We could as well say that Adeosun has completed her course, only that she didn’t do the mandatory one year service.

“But for Obno-Obola, that is even worse, that means that he doesn’t have the technical capability to carry out the duties he is carrying on.

“So, he should be made to resign,” he said

Davido’s management breaks silence on singer being a member of Black Axe cult

Davido’s manager, Asa Asika, has reacted to a controversial report stating that the singer is a member of the Black Axe confraternity.
Recall that one Tobi Adegoke, a 25-year-old suspected member of the Black Axe cult said he was lured into becoming a member of the group with promises that joining the group would grant him the rare opportunity of meeting Davido.

He had told the police, “I am an Aiye member (Black Axe). I have been in the cult for about two years. I was told that Davido was a member and if I joined, I will be able to meet him.

“It was the guy who initiated me that said so. He said he worked for Davido and that it will be easy access for me. But since I joined, I have not met Davido. They told me I’ll become a very popular musician but see where I am now.”

However, in a chat with Vanguard, Asika denied knowledge of Davido being a member of any secret cult group.

“I have no idea of what you’re talking about my brother”, he said.

Another member of Davido’s DMW crew and also Perruzi’s manager, Abiola Ridwan Sanni, a.k.a ‘Kolotainment’, also dismissed the suspect’s allegation, describing it as ‘funny’.

“The allegation is funny, so no further comments”, he added.

Meanwhile, Davido is yet to react to the report.

Boko Haram wants ransom for Leah Sharibu’s freedom –Ndume

The lawmaker representing Borno South Senatorial District, Ali Ndume, has urged the Nigerian Army to extend its anti-terrorism operations to the fringes of the Sambisa Forest and Mandara mountains to flush out the remaining Boko Haram insurgents in the area.

Ndume, who commended the military for their response to the recent attacks on Borno State, noted that the insurgency had increased recently.

While speaking with Saturday PUNCH,the lawmaker expressed suspicion that the Boko Haram faction that abducted the Dapchi girls, which was allegedly paid a ransom by the Federal Government to secure their release except Leah Sharibu, must have been responsible for the recent attacks in the state.

He said, “The stronger ones who still have the audacity to carry out major attacks are those from Mohammed Nuru’s Boko Haram faction that is operating from the fringes, which is the group that we are suspecting got money from the negotiation for the release of the Dapchi girls.

“Now they are psychologically pressing for more money through propaganda by using Leah Sharibu.

“Yes, this is true because they must get money to carry out their operations, and the only source of money is the ransom paid to them. But then, the government is in a tight situation.”

Ndume, who admitted that the insurgency had increased after the Dapchi girls were released, noted that the military had also intensified efforts to crush the insurgents.

He added, “I don’t know exactly what is happening. The truth of the matter is that there is a resurface or escalation of intermittent attacks by the insurgents, over which I have raised the alarm and to which I have called the attention of the authorities.

“But I am happy with the response of the Nigerian Army particularly after the Chief of Army Staff, Lt.-Gen. Tukur Buratai, ordered and relocated the operational headquarters of the Army to Gozombali in Guzama Local Government Area. That is very commendable.

“I am hoping that at the same time they will also increase and intensify the fight against insurgency in other blackspots in the Sambisa Forest and the Mandara Mountains in Gworza Local Government Area.”
