Former Benue LG boss arrested with cache of firearms

A former local government Chairman in Benue State and two other persons have been apprehended by police for allegedly being in possession of a cache of dangerous weapons.

Vanguard learned that the suspects were arrested yesterday at Ogobia, Ugboju area of Otukpo. According to a source, who preferred anonymity, the trio are currently being detained at the State Criminal Investigation Department, CID, in Makurdi, where they are undergoing interrogation.

The source said the arrest may not be unconnected with the communal crisis that has led to several killings and destruction of property in Ogobia, Ugboju.

He said: “They may have also been arrested for the alleged mobilisation of militant youths, who went about killing, maiming and burning down property of those perceived as political enemies. “That is why people are insisting on the prosecution of those involved in the killings of innocent persons and several destruction of properties carried out in the community, because nobody should be seen to be above the law.” Vanguard gathered that moves were on to get the trio out of police net, but the moves were being resisted by those who lost loved ones to the bloodbath in the area.

Contacted, the state police spokesman, Assistant Superintendent, ASP, Moses Yamu, confirmed the arrest and recovery of cache of firearms. He said: “One English pump action, two double-barrelled and two single-barrelled guns and other dangerous weapons were recovered from the suspects, who are still undergoing interrogation.”
The name of the chairman was not disclosed.

KYEGH SHA SHWA CULTURAL FIESTA: A Brief Introduction

Literally, "Kyegh Sha Shwa" means "Chicken with Sesame". It is however, a choice delicacy of the Tiv of Central Nigeria; a soup made of chicken and thick sesame (Benniseed) sauce. The Tiv people best savour this delicacy with pounded yam. It is indeed a very popular dish.

Leveraging on the popularity of this and the near-worship sentimental attachment that the Tiv have with this dish, the Very Rev. Fr. Solomon Mfa Ukeyima conceived of it as a fine rallying point where Tiv sons and daughters would come together, reason together to grow together - a kind of reawakening of the great communal spirit that drives them, as beautifully couched in one of their proverbs, "ka tyem imongo Mbagbera ve fe iwya ye".

Fr. Solomon Ukeyima, a humanitarian priest of the Roman Catholic Church, who has felt with excruciating concern, the unfortunate circumstances in

Tar Tiv, where disunity, hate and disaffection has been alarmingly on the rise in dangerously malignant proportions, decided to experiment the idea with his parishioners at the St. Francis Catholic Mission, Daudu, Guma Local Government Area, in November, 2015.

Seeing the significant success and general acceptability of the experiment in his church, and the instantaneously magical effect it had on forging a strong bond on the people as they reconnected in relish, both physically and spiritually, as those who were hitherto not in talking terms immediately renewed warm relations, cum the genuine general communal excitement the experiment invoked in the people, Fr. Ukeyima decided to expand the scope of the feast so as to offer the Tiv nation an opportunity to also buy into this new lease and rejuvenate the communal essences that give them vintage edge for holistic growth and prosperity in the very challenging new world order. He therefore invited committed and vibrant young Tiv minds to plan this bigger event; this pioneer planning committee was chaired by Shadrach Teryila Ukuma, a Lecturer with the Benue State University in the Theatre Arts Department. Thus, on the 27th of December, 2015, a mammoth crowd converged on the precincts of Daudu, in various elegant apparels of Tiv fabric, to mark this milestone in cultural celebration with pomp and pageantry. This marked the birth of a cultural fiesta that would become endeared to the entire Tiv race, including those who never gave the event a chance.

At the maiden edition of "Kyegh Sha Shwa", it became astonishingly evident that the people indeed yearned for avenues to cultural celebrations, a place and time to ventilate the pressures and frustrations that conspire to disunite them. It was apparently clear, and indeed expressed, that the people missed such events that bind them and foster social cohesion, since desperate politicking and crass capitalist individualism has assumed a damaging centrality, seizing them in a stranglehold of acrimonious bickering and poisonous disaffection for one another. This need, plus the attendant challenges that threaten the collective survival of the Tiv nation in a plural polity such as Nigeria, became even more apparent after the event. The calls for a more expansive subsequent event began early as elder statesmen and those who missed the maiden edition and could not wait for another opportunity, charged the Convener not to allow the initiative to die. This naturally blended into the intention of the organizers who were equally poised to cash in on the success recorded to institutionalize and popularize the event, making it an annual fiesta attracting wider participation.

The maiden edition featured amongst other cultural servings, a rich address from the Guest Speaker, Wantaregh Paul Iorpuu Unongo, arguably the cultural leader of the Tiv, whose soul searching message anchored on the communal philosophy of the Tiv man, which to him must be protected jealously if the Tiv man must emerge victorious in all spheres of living. The idea of strength in unity and collective advancement was acutely articulated by the speaker.

Featuring also at the maiden edition were the famed "Uka-Uka" in competition, Ihyambe Burukutu, drinking competition, communal eating, dressing competition, singing and dancing. All these were targeted at whetting the appetite for a cultural renaissance and an invocation of nostalgic pride in the cultural life of the people.

The cultural celebration also offered the right opportunity to showcase the skill, passion and commitment to purpose which is the trademark of hardworking Tiv youth. It is on this note that mention must be made of those who worked hard to put together the maiden edition. These were: Elijah Terdoo Ikpanor, Ati Kengkeng Kenneth, Ati Terkula, Shiminenge Damna, Simon Ayongul, Jude Akumbur, Dooter Igbudu, Samson Terzungwe Abeh, Iorliam Shija, Paul Bija, Ayoo Pius, Ukan Kurugh, Sabastian Uii, Solomon Tyohemba, Laz Apir, Sam Ijoho, and others.

For the 2016 edition, a theme has been chosen as: " Ayatutu za Hana?" This is question that is targeted at x-raying the Tiv man of yesterday, how he fared in all facets of life, and to attempt to answer why the Tiv man of today is where he is, and as well attempt to point the direction to the way out of this seeming present quagmire so that the posterity of the Tiv man can be prosperous.

It is hoped that with the entrenchment of this fiesta and its ideals, the Tiv nation would once again, physically and spiritually, respond in unison, to the traditional call to duty, essence and service to one another: AYATUTU KA UNÔ, KA SE!!!

Hey Ladies, It's a Pink Pineapple.

Hey gals, a pink genetically engineered pineapple has been approved by the FDA.

Broads, the pineapple is pink because, as NBC reports, it “simply has some genes toned down to keep the flesh of the fruit pinker and sweeter” for you lovely gentlewomen.

Del Monte, the company that’s growing these pink passion fruits in Costa Rica, will affix them with a label that reads: “extra sweet pink flesh pineapple,” which sounds sexy.

Women, in science speak that means:

“(Del Monte’s) new pineapple has been genetically engineered to produce lower levels of the enzymes already in conventional pineapple that convert the pink pigment lycopene to the yellow pigment beta carotene. Lycopene is the pigment that makes tomatoes red and watermelons pink, so it is commonly and safely consumed.”

“We use the term ‘genetic engineering’ to refer to genetic modification practices that utilize modern biotechnology. In this process, scientists make targeted changes to a plant’s genetic makeup to give the plant a new desirable trait. For example, two new apple varieties have been genetically engineered to resist browning associated with cuts and bruises by reducing levels of enzymes that can cause browning.”

Pineapples are said to be delicious. These are allegedly safe and pink. Enjoy it.

AMAZING! ‘Doggy’ style during s3x is the major cause of cancer and stroke says SA Health Minister.

South Africa’s Minister of Health, Aaron Motsoaledi, has said ‘doggy’ style during s3x is the major cause of cancer and stroke.

He said after three years of arduous research, he found out that the high pumping of blood during s3x, when one is standing or kneeling overloads the veins in the legs which ultimately causes stroke.

He told The Insider, “On cancer – one of the main causes of cancer is stress, fatigue and tiredness.

“The most energy consuming and stressful s3xual position for men is doggy; hence the connection is more than clear.

“Look, I am only giving you guys a snippet, but we will be posting the results of the full research on the Ministry website.”

He added that he is in talks with Home Affairs Minister, Malusi Gigaba to craft a legislation that will seek to outlaw this style.

According to him, occasional doggy style like only on Christmas day and Valentine is harmless but be sure that each night is suicidal.

“This is the reason why South African married men die and leave their wives a lot these days,” the 58-year-old man added.

Nicki Minaj And Meek Mill Might Be Over

Nicki Minaj might be officially done with Meek Mill. According to Bossip, Meek might have been cheating on her with a boutique owner from Philadelphia for about a year. Nicki probably discovered what was up one day when Meek Mill came back from a trip smelling of cheese steaks and cooch.

Neither Nicki nor Meek has said that they’re over. But their Instagram activity could be a clue. For example, Meek has been posting pictures of asses that don’t belong to Nicki. Meek Mill recently posted (then later deleted)a picture of his alleged lady’s body stocking-wrapped butt on Instagram. Nicki, meanwhile, has been posting motivational shit about people taking you for granted, and cryptic descriptions of shower shoes that probablyaren’t actually about the shoes.

Bossip claims that Meek Mill didn’t only slip cheater dick into his Philly side piece. He also allegedly gave her money for her boutique. Uh oh. You should never get money involved. I watch daytime TV, I know how this ends. It ends with Meek Mill and Philly boutique lady arguing over whether the money was a gift or a loan while Judge Judy rolls her eyes to Byrd.

Justin Bieber Indicted In Argentina

In 2013, Justin Bieber brought his hood rat stuff shenanigans to Buenos Aires when he allegedly got all Fat Sam in Bugsy Malone by ordering one of his goons (aka bodyguards) to beat up a paparazzo outside of a club.

The police wanted to question him, but he and his bodyguard busted out of Argentina. In November 2014, a judge ordered the Biebes back to Buenos Aires for questioning, but since ain’t nobody gonna tell the leader of the Wild Boyz what to do, he dropped a rebel toddler fart on that request. The judge eventually issued a warrant in April 2015 and that messed with the Biebs’ planned stop in Argentina on his Purpose world tour. The warrant was later canceled.

And that takes us today when the judge in Buenos Aires officially let the world know that they’re not done with the Biebs. They charged him.

TMZ says that Justin Bieber was indicted for ordering the beating on the pap and also stealing the pap’s money and camera. The Biebs’ side believes that the judge is just a Bieber-hater and is out to get him.

His lawyers are planning to appeal the indictment, because they think that an appeals judge court with some sense will throw it out. A source, whose name most likely rhymes with Mustin Lieber, adds that the judge is ultimately hurting Argentina because Justin Bieber can SAVE THE ECONOMY!

“The judge is screwing his own country because Justin could infuse a huge amount of money into the economy.”

Justin Bieber’s Purpose tour is going to South America next year, but it’s skipping Argentina. He’ll be arrested if he steps foot in the country.

Yeah, I figured out Argentina’s game a long time ago. They’re doing what they gotta do to remain Bieber-free and I applaud them for that, but they shouldn’t feel too confident. Because all Justin Bieber has to do is act snotty toward one private jet pilot, and suddenly his plane will get redirected to Buenos Aires! “We’re counting on you, private jet pilots,” said every country except for Argentina since they’ll be stuck with him.

Here’s the Biebs topless running in L.A. yesterday. I also threw in pictures of him almost busting his ass. It’s my Christmas gift to you!

Officers of FOU ‘A’ Intercepts Suspected Plastic Rice

Nigerians have been advised to be vigilant of the activities of smugglers at this yuletide season as all kinds of consumable are being smuggled into the country.

Controller incharge of Federal Operations Unit Zone ‘A’ Ikeja Lagos, Haruna Mammud, gave this advice during a press briefing on the seizure of suspected Plastic Rice by Officers of the Unit.

He said, “Today am happy to tell you that after our last week press briefing, we intensified our operations in search of the alleged “plastic rice” and with the support of some patriotic Nigerians most especially a member of the forth estate of the realm, we were able to locate where this rice were stored for distribution to the public as yuletide gift”.

“As I speak with you, we have successfully evacuated 102 bags of 25 kg branded Best Tomato Rice has no NAFDAC Batch Number and manufacture/expiring dates. Preliminary analysis on the rice after boiling shows that the rice is sticky and plastic in nature. We are still investigating to ascertain how many of this rice has been circulated and how best to retrieve it in order to protect and safeguard the health of Nigerians and to bring those behind it to book”.

Compt. Haruna praised the commitment and diligence of the officers and men of the FOU ‘A’ for living up to their responsibilities. He also appreciated well-meaning Nigerians who provided timely information that led to this discovery and seizure.

He advised economic saboteurs who see yuletide season as peak period for their nefarious acts to desist from such illegal business as the Unit has devised other operational modalities that will make them run for their monies and count their loses.

BREAKING: Buhari Introduces New Policy, 'Report Financial Crime And Earn 5% From Recovered Sum.

The Nigerian government has reportedly approved a policy that would see it paying whistle-blowers to encourage the reporting of crimes and other scandals.

Premium Times reports that part of the highlights of the new policy is that whistle-blowers whose revelations lead to recovery of money would be entitled to up to five per cent of the recovered sum.

The report says the policy was approved Wednesday, December 21, 2016 at the meeting of the Federal Executive Council , chaired by President Muhammadu Buhari inside the Council Chamber of the Aso Rock Villa.

Kemi Adeosun, the finance minister, made the revelation after the meeting adding that the policy is in conjunction with the office of the Attorney-General of the Federation and minister of Justice and that it would be a stop-gap initiative until the National Assembly formally passes a law on whistle-blowing.

According to her, the policy is to strengthen the fight against corruption by the Muhammadu Buhari administration.

To make this work, the government is to set up a website and provide a phone number and email for people while anonymity and protection of whistle-blowers would be encouraged.

HISTORIC! Ambode, Bagudu, launch LAKE RICE in Lagos State. PHOTOS

Lagos State Governor, Mr. Akinwunmi Ambode and his Kebbi State counterpart, Alhaji Atiku Bagudu on Wednesday launched the much anticipated Lagos-Kebbi Rice christened LAKE RICE, saying that the partnership which culminated into the launch was not only designed to ensure food security but showcase the ability of Nigeria to become a producing nation.

Speaking at the launching ceremony held at Lagos House in Ikeja, Governor Ambode said the development was a great and historic moment for both states and Nigeria, as the rice would not only be sold at highly reduced price, compared to what obtains in the market, but is also very fresh and safe for consumption.

“Today is an historic day for Lagos and Kebbi States. In March 2016, we signed an MOU with an understanding that we, being proudly Nigeria, we want to come out with what is made in Nigeria and what is good in Nigeria. We took all that President Muhammadu Buhari said that we need to grow our food and we decided that we will prove a point and that is what today is all about.

“LAKE RICE is of good quality. The major difference between LAKE RICE and the ones imported is that the imported has a minimum storage of five to six years storage life span, but LAKE RICE is fresh,” the Governor said.

He said the partnership would in the nearest future lead to an expansion of production of the rice, saying that Lagos has the largest consumption market.

Governor Akinwunmi Ambode of Lagos State and Governor Atiku Bagudu of Kebbi State during the signing of the MoU
Giving a breakdown of the prices, Governor Ambode said that while the 50kg will sell for N12, 000, 25kg would go for N6, 000 and 10kg for N2, 500, adding that for now, an individual would only be allowed to purchase a bag to enable it go round.

He also commended President Muhammadu Buhari for supporting the collaboration between Lagos and Kebbi, just as he disclosed that the Federal Government has donated two rice mills to the State Government to increase production of rice next year.

Also speaking, Governor Bagudu, who went down memory lane of how the collaboration started with a discussion between him and Governor Ambode during a meeting in Abuja, said the partnership was a confirmation of both State Governments’ commitment to the agenda of making Nigeria a big market in Africa.

He said while Kebbi State has comparative advantage in area of rice production, Lagos boasts of the largest consumption market, saying that the LAKE RICE can stand any integrity test in Nigeria.

“Our rice is of quality. I am proud of this joint venture. We can do more with other commodities like Cocoa, Soya beans and Sorghum and I am very glad that we are launching the LAKE RICE today,” Bagudu said.

In an earlier announcement Special Adviser to the Governor on Food Security, Ganiyu Okanlawon Sanni, who disclosed the process of purchasing the rice, said collection would be allowed after payment at designated banks or through POS, while an individual would only be allowed to buy one bag at a time to make the product reach vast majority of the people.

In Lagos East Senatorial District, Sanni said the rice would be available for sale at Odogunyan Farm Service Centre in Ikorodu; Temu Farm Service Centre in Epe; Naforiji Town Hall in Eredo; Magbon Alade School in Ibeju and SUBEB Premises in Maryland.

In Lagos West, the Special Adviser to the Governor said the rice would be available for sale at LSADA Farm Service Centre, Oko-Baba in Agege; LAISA in Ojo; Coconut House in Mowo; Farm Service Centre, Marina in Badagry and Ikeja Grammar School in Oshodi.

According to him, in Lagos Central, the rice would be available for sale at Agric Area Office in Ajah; LASTMA Works Yard in Adeniji/Freeman, Lagos Island; Alakoto Senior High School, Tolu in Ajegu.

50kg Bag For N12,000; 25kg For N6,000; 10kg For N2,500.
