A NIGERIAN soldier serving for the British Army died during a military training exercise has been named by the government.

Private Michael Ihemere, 26, from Umuodo, Nigeria, was a member of the 1st Battalion, the Mercian Regiment, was identified by the Ministry of Defence.

He collapsed on Wednesday morning while taking part in an exercise on army ranges near Leyburn, North Yorkshire.

A North Yorkshire Police spokesman said: “Officers are working with the army to establish the full circumstances surrounding the death, which is not suspicious, so that a file can be prepared on behalf of the coroner.”

It is not the first military death during training this year, with three reservists dying in the Brecon Beacons last month.

The trio fell unconscious as they were undertaking special forces selection in sweltering 30C degree temperatures.

Colorado Mother And Daughter Sentenced For ‘Nigerian Internet Romance Scam.

A Colorado mother and daughter were sentenced on Wednesday for their roles in a “Nigerian internet romance scam.” Karen and Tracy Vasseur were convicted of stealing more than $1 million from 374 victims who thought they were sending money to aid members of the United States military.

“Not only did this mother-daughter duo break the law, they broke hearts worldwide,” said Colorado Attorney General John Suthers in an official statement. “It is fitting that they received stiff sentences for their unconscionable crimes committed in the name of love and the United States military.”

According to the indictment, unknown conspirators in Nigeria would establish online relationships with victims via e-mail or social media by sending them fake military documents and personal photographs. After the relationship was established, the purported military member would request large sums of money, ostensibly for satellite phones that would allow them to speak to the victims or travel funds that would allow them to visit.

Victims would then be instructed to send the money, typically through Western Union or Money Gram, to a “military agent” in Colorado. Tracy or Karen Vasseur would pick up the money and wire it to their Nigerian associates minus their 10 percent cut. In order to hide the amount and frequency of their transactions, the paired opened twenty bank accounts at eleven different banks and received wire transmissions at sixty-eight different locations in nineteen different cities. They forwarded the money to one-hundred twelve Nigerians at ninety-four different Nigerian addresses.

Their fraudulent scheme began to unravel on March 4, 2011, when Western Union noticed what court papers call “an unusual occurrence”:

Western Union records show that, at 4:03 p.m., after she had sent out three wires, Karen Vasseur sent a wire to Nigeria in the amount of $1,8945. The records then show that two minutes later, at 4:05 p.m., she received a wire in the same amount from a different Western Union location in Thornton, Colorado, and the name of the sender was Karen Vasseur. Just two minutes later, Karen Vasseur sent out four more wires from the same location where the previous four wires were sent from.

While the Vasseurs were careful to keep the total sum of the transactions beneath the threshold that would trigger an automatic vetting by Western Union, the company became suspicious when the same person wired money to-and-from herself from two different locations at the same time.

Tracy Vasseur received a 15-year sentence for role in the scheme. Karen received a 12-year sentence.

'Something in August' /Something About Monica Ogah''Something About Benue'' - Monica Shares Her Experience After Project Fame And Talks About Her New Album.

Am so proud of her not because she's from Benue State ,but because of her unique talent.  Monica Ogah, who won  of the musical reality show, Project Fame Season Four has debuted an album titled: 'Something in August' that consists of 11 tracks and featured artistes like her immediate project fame winner Chidinma and Wizboy.

A native of Benue State in Nigeria,Monica recently shared her experience after Project Fame with BOLAOLORUNTITO ADEBOLA and talks about her new album. Excerpts...

How long have you been singing?

I started singing at Sunday school service in the church; my mum was the choir mistress, so singing is what has been part of my family because it has been in our vein.

Is music a career to you or what?
Music is my life, music is something I love doing, like I said earlier, I grow up in a family where music runs through us, music is my passion and it's what I love doing, can't stop doing music, I have to keep doing it because I love to do it and isn't that I don't have other things doing but basically I can't leave music and music can't leave me because it's my passion and I love doing it.

How do compare your album to other artistes?
Monica Ogah's album is different from others because of its originality, more so I don't want to sound like anybody, I don't want to look like anyone, I just want to be me and make the originality in me stand out from others.

What should be expected in your album?
Well, my fans and the music lovers should expect mix-feelings from my album because it is a total package album which contain dancing, inspiration and courageous songs, if you want to dance, you will find a danceable song, if you want to get inspired, there's inspirational song as well, the album consist of different kinds of music in one album.

Which of your songs are you promoting for the album?

Most of the songs in the album but 'Body Hug' is my number one song followed by 'Suddenly' which featured Chidinma, 'End of Story' and 'Tomorrow' produced by TY MIX.

Your songs have been played across the broadcast stations, has response been encouraging?

Well, so far the response has been very encouraging and I'm very much happy with the feedback on the album.

Following the positive response, have you been receiving calls for shows?
Yes, I'm getting couple of calls for shows but it is a gradual process, you can't just break into the market just like that, so I am still in that process and it is not as if I didn't get calls for shows, they are calling but it's a gradual process.

Your album title 'Sometime in August', what the secret behind it?
Well; Sometime in August is today, Sometime in August I launched the album and Sometime in August I was born while a lot of things happened to me in Sometime August.

Has the Project Fame platform really helped you musically?
Project Fame has really helped, it isn't easy to start music from the very scratch, it's a big platform for someone to start music career, they give you the name, people recognize you because of the long days you are being featured on different television station across the nation and people recognize you immediately they see you, so it is easier to ride on that platform to start the journey from the nowhere because it is really more difficult to start the journey afresh because before you register your face and name in the industry, so the platform MTN giving to the young ones is really a good platform.

How has life been after Project Fame?

Life after project fame hasn't been easy, but I give thanks to almighty God for been with me throughout and also to my family for the continuous support to my music career. But life after project fame is totally different, because you are facing a whole lot of different people, you are competing with the entire world, it's a different game entirely, the whole West Africa would be watching you and monitoring you and competing with a lot of people to claim your stand in the industry it isn't easy task, but I think it's just a process for you to get what you need.

Being a singer do you prefer the digital recording than the live band?

Live band has always been part of me, I sing with the live band in my church before I started using studio and if you give me an option to pick between digital studio and live band, I would pick the live band because it gives me the opportunity to express myself, I won't be restricted to sing the same way I sing in the album. With live band I have the ability to express myself, though there are other things I could do, it also help you as an artiste to show your diversity, like you are really an artiste, people that see you know this person can sing and I have always chose a live band.

Is any of your songs recorded with a live band in the studio?

In this part of the world it is hard to see a live band studio, but I make sure that some of songs sounded live; if you take time to listening to my songs, like 'Tomorrow' sounded as a live band production. But I would love to record in a live recording studio anytime.

What do you do apart from music?

Music is my number one priority; I would have different things doing, but won't be doing just music, like my mum always said that it's good when you have several things doing. So music is my number priority, music is my life and it's my style and every other things I want to add up to it is just like I'm doing it with passion.

What is your relationship with other artiste?

I respect everybody and I have mutual relationship with them, I do respect them because it is not easy to be in the music industry and isn't easy to be recognized, though we have a lot of artistes out there and the female artistes go through a lot of stress more than the men, so I really appreciate it whenever I see any female artiste, I respect them so much because I personally know it isn't easy to be an artiste.

After project fame what has change in you?
Well, nothing really changes, you won't believe it, it's my normal Monica, I have to be free. I thank God its common from where I come from in Benue State, we all love to be simple with life, though nothing really change in me and the fame which project fame gave me hasn't gotten into my head because I control it.

How have you been managing with your money and car?
Well, I thank God for my family, though we are not rich, but we are okay, I'm doing good with the money, managing it with my day-to-day activities and the car has been keeping one moving and I thank God for the life giving to me.

How has life been after Project Fame?

I Am Sorry For Embarrassing Nigerians-Beverly

The aftermath of BBA The Chase is getting more interesting as Beverly is now apologizing for her behavior in the house. She even denies having sex with South Africa's Angelo *I participated in BBA to be myself - Melvin… Nigeria's representatives in the just concluded Big Brother Africa reality TV show, Beverly Osu and Melvin Oduah were presented to the media at the Protea Hotel, Victoria Island, Lagos last Thursday after their triumphant return to the country. The two ex-housemates recounted their personal experiences in the Big Brother House. Beverly was the first to put the record straight , as she denied having sex in the House with her South African counterpart, Angelo. She however, confirmed that her relationship with Angelo was real.

In BBA House The experience was awesome.Though it was challenging, God really saw me through. It is something everybody should look forward to participating in. I don't believe I was cheated during the grand finale. Housemates from West Africa were not only united but, we dominated the House. Whoever won the show really deserved to win. For me and Melvin, having made it to the finals, we are equally winners in our own rights. At least, we brought something home to show for our efforts.

*Beverly
Having sex with South Africa's Angelo! I did not have sex in the House. I had a relationship with Angelo Collins but we did not have sex. I loved him and I still love him. I am a blunt person and very real. People that knew me before BBA know that I don't pretend to be who I am. If it happens, you fall in love, you can't fake it. I did not have sex with Angelo. I was under the bathtube, but we never had sex. Maybe, the camera made it look so. Everybody gets naked to have their bath, so I don't think it is wrong for me to be naked when I have my bath too. There was no way. I couldn't be different because I went for a reality show. So, I should not be judged by what people saw during the show since I didn't intentionally bring out my video for all to see. .Big brother did that.

Winning strategy I am a very blunt person. Melvin can testify to this claim because he stayed with me for ninety one days in the House. I was only talking to my fellow Housemates. And I don't regret anythin I said about myself and my family. This is because if I have to be on this platform, people have to know the real me and what I have been through.

On her plans for the future I'll continue with my online reality show 'Beverly Says' and I'll complete my education. I also intend to go into acting.I'm a 200 level student of the National Open University of Nigeria, where I am studying Mass Communication.

My mum's reaction My mum has tutored me very well. Even if the whole world rejects me today, my mum can't reject me. I love my mum so much. I'm her only daughter and the last child in the family. I have always been there for her, just as she has always been there for me. I will not disappoint my mum intentionally by saying she this or she's that…

Embarrassing Nigerians I don't feel happy about it because this is the first time, I represented the country in any continental competition. But the fact remains that if you didn't go for it, you wouldn't know how it's in the House. I wasn't there with my cell phone to be able to communicate with the outside world. I was just there alone. I'm sorry for embarrassing my country. I didn't do it intentionally. My participation in the show was not to embarrass my country. I am a proud Nigerian.

On featuring in a porn production by Afrocandy I heard about it. Thanks for the offer but no. She ends.

Lagosians Can Now Apply For Passports Online.

The Nigerian Immigration Service, Lagos State Command, has urged Lagosians to apply for their passports early in order to reduce delay in passport issuance.
Deputy Controller Immigration, Joshua Ajisafe, gave the advice while addressing some applicants at the Passport Office, Alausa on Wednesday.
He said the inauguration of the new office was a sign that the service had the interest of Nigerians at heart. He said other measures had also been put in place to reduce delay in passport processing.
He said, “The NIS has been looking inward to fast track the issuance of passports beyond the usual three to seven days. We will be working hard to ensure that applicants can get their passports within 24hours or even less.
“Competent members of staff have been put in difficult sections, such as the vetting section, which might slow down the process.
“We are working hard and we expect applicants to however apply early and maintain orderliness for this to be possible.”
Ajisafe said issues of fraud and extortion by officers could be reported to the complaint desk. He said his office would be open to applicants with such reports.
He said, “When issues of extortion arise, applicants should feel free to report such cases to the complaint desk. If not satisfied, my office is wide open. We do not want any form of corruption.”
He said the passport office had handled some cases of identity fraud, adding that the suspects had been transferred to the Lagos State Police Command for more investigation. He warned applicants to be truthful with their data.

Work The Polka Dots Trend: See Photos From The Latest Collection From Toyin Lawani’s Elegante By Tiannahstyling Autumn/Winter 2013 “Freedom” Collection.

Toyin Lawani
Creative Director of Tiannah’s Place Empire, Fashion Designer and Celebrity Stylist, Toyin Lawani of Elegante By TiannahStyling love for polka dots is evident in her latest Autumn/Winter 2013 “Freedom” collection. There is a good dose of polka dots which has been done right and has been properly styled with other fabrics and accessories such as Silk, Lycra, Leather, Feathers and Chiffon which are all pleasurable to the eyes!

This “Freedom” collection, recently showcased at the 2013 Africa Fashion Week London was an insight as to how to pull of polka dots.

Toyin Lawani’s love for the vintage era has been cleverly emphasized and she goes to show that any fashion forward woman can still look chic and sophisticated wearing the dotted look by keeping it classic.

Style Tips:
Pair them with great classic pieces such as a nice leather handbag, nude jacket or black cigarette jeans. Keep your jewellery simple too, dots bling do not always match.

The polka dots should be proportional to your shape, so if you are have a big bust; the print should be slightly larger to balance a bigger chest. Conversely, if you're petite on top, the polka dots should be smaller to keep things proportional.

Polka dots are a cheery print that can bring an element of fun to your wardrobe. Just remember to keep things proportional and simple, and to pair polka dots alongside solid, neutral pieces.
