The first Abuja Makeup Fair debuts 5th May, 2012. Abuja MakeUp fair is designed to give professionals a great platform from which to conclude business with attendees/visitors. At AMUF visitors will have a unique opportunity to meet and interact with makeup brand companies, representatives of makeup brands, Makeup Artistes, photographers, spa owners to gather the information they need to make informed purchase decisions, and indeed to purchase products they admire so greatly directly from the exhibitors at the fair at discounted rates. They also see existing business contacts and friends or network to make new connections during the fair.
 The Exhibitor catergories includes,

Makeup and Personal Care: This section will be for makeup brands, makeup artists, makeup brand reps, makeup studio owners , tools, accessories, books and everything found in the makeup world. We also have body painting included here.

Wellness and Spa: This section will be for professional Skincare and Spa products /treatments and natural health beauty products.

Professional Hair Stylists, Hair Products and Accessories: This section will be showing professional hair care, hair color, styling products, Accessories, implements, tools, attire as well as all and everything found in the Salon world.

Photo Session: This section is for professional photographers.

Nigeria May Get First Female Chief Judge Of The Federatio, (C.J.N)

Indications has emerged that Nigeria may get its first female Chief Justice when the current occupant of the office, Justice Dahiru Musdapher, quits office on July 14, 2012.

It was learnt that the outgoing CJN may have recommended Mariam Alooma Mukhtar, a female, who is the most senior Justice of the Superme Court to succeed him.

If eventually appointed, Mukhtar who hails from Kano State will be major boost for interests campaigning for women to occupy sensitive positions.

She recently rejected her nomination as the Chief Judge of The Gambia, perhaps in anticipation of her being made Nigeria’s first female CJN.

Mukhtar is the first female Justice of the Supreme Court. She was born in 1944 and was called to the Nigerian Bar on June 26, 1967.

Her profile on the website of the Supreme Court also reads, “She was called to the English Bar in 1966 and later called to the Nigerian Bar in June 1967.

A thorough Legal Professional, Hon. Justice A.M Muktar had served as: Pupil State Counsel, Ministry of Justice, Northern Nigeria (1967) Draftsman, Office of the Legal Draftsman, Interim Common Service Agency Magistrate Grade I, North Eastern Government (1969 – 1973); Chief Registrar, Kano State Government Judiciary (1973 – 1977) Judge – High Court of Kano State (1977) Justice – Court of Appeal (1987) Presiding Justice – Court of Appeal (1993 – 2005).

A Life Member of the International Association of Women Lawyers, Hon. Justice Aloma Mariam Muktar has been a Justice of the Supreme Court (JSC) since 2005.”

Saved From The Dinner Table: Activists Rescue More Than 500 Caged Dogs Destined For RestaurantS.

Crammed into tiny cages and enduring appalling conditions, these dogs had been destined for restaurant tables in China.
But they were saved from that fate after activists intercepted the truck carrying them.
Many of the 505 creatures had barely survived their terrible ordeal, having endured cramped conditions and a lack of water during their near 1,000 mile by road. But rescue came too late for 11 dogs which had succumbed to dehydration and exposure. 
The driver, who was questioned by police, said he had been employed to take the animals from Mianning county, Xichang city in the southwest of Sichuan province,to restaurants in Yulin city in south China's Guangxi province.
Volunteers provided the dogs with water and food which they had been deprived of because of the narrow space in the truck.
The trade and transportation of animals in China has come in for criticism by campaigners in the West.

Some of the huge markets which sell dogs and cats to restaurants for slaughter and human consumption, came under international spot light several years ago after being the suspected origin of the deadly SARS virus.
It is not uncommon for dogs, as well as other animals, to be crammed so tightly together into tiny metal cages they cannot even bark - an environment ripe for the spread of disease.

In one of the large markets, on a 60 acre site in Guangzhou, China, cages of dogs and cats - some of them bred as domestic pets - are piled high and when an animal is chosen for sale it is bludgeoned with an iron bar until it is close to death before, being handed over to the purchaser.
