Fire Razes Abuja Flats.

A block of four flats located along Demonstration Road in Gwagwalada, a satellite town in the Nigeria’s Federal Capital Territory (FCT), was on Saturday razed down by fire.

A News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) Correspondent who witnessed the incident reports that efforts by men of the FCT Fire Service to put out the fire which started at about 10 a.m. was abortive.

Some occupants of the flat who spoke to NAN blamed the cause of the fire on one of the occupants whom they alleged left her cooker on.

The accused occupant however, denied the allegation, saying that she had not even opened her kitchen when the fire broke out.

“I had not even opened my kitchen this morning. I just went across the road to buy chicken and met the house on fire on my return. My little baby would have been in the fire if not that I carried him with me,” Ifeoma Amadi, the occupant, said in tears.

One of the occupants, simply identified as Augustus, was said to have travelled to Enugu this morning to attend his sisters` burial. While other occupants of the building were seen salvaging a few property from their flats, everything in Augustus` room was burnt as access could not be gained into his apartment.

Meanwhile, Mr Ignatius Amadi, the Caretaker of the block of flats, said that the fire started from the mattress of one of the occupants. He alleged that the occupant may have left her phone on her mattress while charging it, adding that there may have been electricity spark somewhere.

The house, which according him, was the major source of income to the owner, was completely razed with properties worth millions of Naira. Some of the occupants of the flats said that besides their property that were burnt in the inferno, there were other valuable documents including certificates and cash.

How A 35 Year Old Man Died During Marathon Sex On Empty Stomach.

It was a gloomy Christmas for residents of Calabar Municipal Council in Cross River State as a man, identified as Ofem Eta, aged 35, allegedly died after a marathon sex with one of his girlfriends. Eta lived at 2, Orok Ita Street, Big Qua, before he met his death.

He worked with Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) in Calabar. An eyewitness told Daily Sun that the tragedy occurred during the Christmas period when the man came back from duty on Friday evening and without eating any food went into marathon sex with the girl. He died thereafter.

The eyewitness said, “when he came back from work, he told one of his town girls staying within the compound that he was hungry and that they should prepare something for him to eat. It was prepared for him, but when the girl got there, his door was shut and when she knocked, he told her to take the food back and bring it later. When the girl took the food to him later, his door was open and when she knocked again, there was no response.

But she went in and saw him lying naked on his bed,” she narrated. A neighbour, who does not want her name in print, said, “when the girl came she greeted us but we did not take particular interest in her and when she came out of his room, we did not say anything to her because we did not suspect anything unusual until his town girl brought him food,” a neighbour said about the girl who slept with the victim.

“People from his office came here and disturbed the whole street but they could not arrest anybody because the girl went away with his phone,” the neighbour said. Investigation by Daily Sun revealed that Eta hails from Mkapani in Yakkur Local Government Area of the state.

It was also learnt that some of the deceased’s colleagues at the operations unit of the NSCDC are said to be intensifying efforts to track down the lady even as no arrest had been made. When our reporter visited the Public Relations Officer, Mrs.Nkoyo Bassey at the NSCDC Office along Anantigha, Calabar South, she was not on seat But one of the officers, who didn’t want to be named, said “there is nothing the corps can do about it because it is even a shame to be talking about that; we are worried at such ugly death of one of us and he should just be forgotten.”

Medical Minute: Nigeria’s Maurice Iwu, Others Record Breakthrough In HIV/AIDS Treatment

As the world continued to battle with efforts aimed at finding cure to HIV/AIDS, the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has announced another breakthrough in the treatment of the disease with the discovery of an oral botanical drug, Crofelemer.

The new drug is the second botanical, and an orally administered drug to be approved by FDA since 2006.

The latest breakthrough owes its success to a pioneering research carried out in the United States by a team of scientists including Nigeria’s Professor Maurice Iwu, an acclaimed pharmacologist and tropical medicine expert.
The first botanical drug to be approved in the United States was a topical green tea extract, Veregen, in 2006. Both botanical drugs meet all US pharmaceutical requirements and can be dispensed only by prescription.

However, ‘’Crofelemer is the first drug to be approved in the United States to treat HIV -associated diarrhea. It is derived from the latex of the South American sangre de drago tree (dragon’s blood, Croton lechleri). A red, blood-resembling latex leaks from the tree when its bark is cut, and it is this substance that contains the novel polymolecular structure crofelemer, originally developed and standardized by Shaman Pharmaceuticals. Fulyzag is the second botanical drug approved by the agency. The drug’s approval marks an important event in the decades-long history of crofelemer.’’

A routine C-section turned memorable for an Arizona doctor when his tiny patient reached out of her mother’s abdomen during delivery and grabbed his finger.

The brief moment was captured by the baby’s father, Randy Atkins, who snapped a photo that has now gone viral.

“The doctor called me over and said, ‘Hey, she’s grabbing my finger.’ So I ran over there and just grabbed the shot and I was just in awe looking at it. It was such an amazing picture,” Atkins told KTVK.

The baby, named Nevaeh, or Heaven spelled backwards, was born in October. At first her mother kept the photo private.

“We didn’t think we were going to get such positive feedback. We thought we would get more negative ‘that’s disgusting…’” Alicia Atkins said. “[Instead] everybody just thought it was the best thing in the world.”

PDP Youth Call On President Jonathan To Reason Well Or Resign.

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Youth Council has strongly criticized President Goodluck Jonathan for flooding Nigeria’s federal capital with 2015 presidential electoral campaign posters, accusing him of violating existing agreements and trying to perpetuate his failed leadership.

In a statement signed by its Publicity director, Comrade Bala Usman, and National Director, Fidelis Uzoka, the group said it would not stand idly by while the structure that their founding fathers labored hard to build is now “used in dancing the one legged dance of the spirits that leads to doom.”

Said the group: “The events of the last few days [have] ignited outrage and public condemnation because of the deliberate and well calculated commencement of a Presidential campaign by President Jonathan even in the face of his so called ban on political activities is an unwarranted test of the will and patience of Nigerians who has tried to exhibit high level of tolerance to a regime which seems in the last two years to have lost the focus of true leadership and proper understanding of the ideals of our party’s founding fathers. The choice of the midnight of the new year for such wasteful gamble of flooding Abuja with the Presidents campaign posters is very embarrassing and show of leadership idleness on the part of the Presidential hawks.”

Reviewing those events, the group described the timing of the campaign posters as “ill motivated, diversionary, high level of childish prank” and a calculated attempt to test the will of Nigerian people and members of the ruling party by a regime that has burned the goodwill that Nigerians gave to the party.

“We have watched and read the reactions of Nigerians to this new year gift which came at a time Nigerians where trying to enjoy their new year, same way they returned last year to grace the hike in the price of fuel which was an anti-party decision and an inhuman treatment which was contrary to the dreams of our party’s founding fathers of build a strong economic base for the Nigerian Citizenry.

“The President and his team after seeing that this attempt to fly the 2015 kite has failed and backfired with outrage from Nigerians, hurriedly put up a disclaimer which was neither here nor there, aimed at pulling wool over our eyes. Nigerians cannot be hoodwinked by this last minute exoneration attempt, not even when the same president has filled another defense at the federal high court where he is battling to prove that he has a right to second term. Who is fooling who?”

The PDP Youth Council then asked a series of questions regarding why Mr. Jonathan wants to run for a second term when he had repeatedly committed only to one.

It also dismissed Jonathan’s abysmal performance in office. “What will the President gain from abandoning his responsibility of governance to pursue a phantom 2015 project without a single achievement?”

It said that as members of the ruling party, the youths had resorted to shouting because the President is on the path of “slaughtering” the party, and warned that the national stability and intra party cohesion and trust which Jonathan is about to breach a second time will rip the party apart and set it on a journey to eternal burial.

“We say NO to this,” the statement said. “Posters or no Posters, the PDP has suffered greatly in the hands of President Jonathan, the public rating of the party has gone down below 30 percent, our electoral strength has dwindled, our party intra unity and cohesion has been broken. WE MUST REPAIR PDP NOW. The PDP has been so kind to Jonathan, by keeping him uninterrupted in power since our return to democracy from 1999 till date, the President must pay the party back by been honorable and placing the unity of the party and interest above his personal ambition.”

It warned that the party cannot withstand the firepower of the Mega party and Nigerian electorate if Jonathan fails to perform, and that the PDP must save itself by getting Jonathan to be accountable, focused and competent as his continuous slide to failure and confusion is not a Jonathan problem but a party problem.

The survival of the PDP, the group said, depends on the ability of Jonathan to clear the leadership mess that has been imposed on Nigeria.

“Our PDP must get President Jonathan to come clean before 2015 by cleaning the corruption mess all over Nigeria which has increased both in the judiciary, legislature and executives in the last 3 years.

“The subsidy mess which the President created must be handled and resolved.

“The level of unemployment which is on the rise must be contained now.

“The level of insecurity and armed robberies/kidnapping which has become part of our hourly life in Nigeria must be resolved.

“The issue of terrorism and wanton destruction must be resolved not by VIPs riding in security cars but ordinary Nigerians having the secure environment to carry on their legitimate activities.

“Religious worship must not be a thing of fear under a Jonathan government but joy and celebration.

“The elevation of ethnicity and petty issue to governance level must be reversed.”

The youths predicted that before the day runs out, they expect to be cajoled, intimidated, called names and harassed by security agencies because they have dared to speak publicly the truth they had previously said within only to be ignored, but warned that the dangers they have identified, if not dealt with, will see the curtains come down on their party.

"We wish to state that the gathering storm against our party both internally and externally is building and if the President has finally run out of ideas to lead our nation and provide leadership unity, honor and respect to the dreams of our party's founding fathers and the electorates who innocently entrusted him with a mandate he has betrayed, We urge our party leader to do the honorable and courageous thing and resign from office and hand over power to his deputy, so that the process of rebuilding our party and giving focused leadership can commence in earnest as we have less than two years to the next election. "

Two Nigerian Male Pastors Caught Having Sex In The Hotel.

Two Nigerian pastors suspected to be gays Prince Ejimole, 26, and Lawrence Udo, 25, have been arrested and charged to court after they were allegedly caught having sex in a hotel room at Ijeshatedo, Lagos State, southwest Nigeria.
They are facing charges of having carnal knowledge of each other against the order of nature before the presiding Magistrate, Mrs A. O. Awogboro. The pastors were arrested at a popular hotel at Ijeshatedo where it was alleged they usually lodged to have sex with each other. Sources at the hotel said the duo usually lodged in the hotel under the guise of praying.
They were however arrested after Pastor Ejimole and Udo allegedly lured another member of the congregation, Chidiebere Mozie, who needed prayers to the hotel. But they allegedly forced him to have sex with them after he refused to consent to the act. Mozie alleged that when they got into the hotel room, Pastor Ejimole started sucking his breast and was pulling out his penis as well to penetrate into his anus. He raised the alarm that attracted the already suspicious hotel staff. The management contacted the police at Ijeshatedo division who made the arrested. The so-called men of God are now facing a four-count charge of conspiracy, unlawful carnal knowledge. They've pleaded not guilty.

EFCC Seizes Ex-Bayelsa Governors Properties.

By Wilson Uwujaren - Acting Head, Media & Publicity >>> The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, on Thursday, January 3, 2013 took possession of 48 properties of the former governor of Bayelsa state, Mr. Timpre Sylva who is being prosecuted at a Federal High Court in Abuja for alleged misappropriation of N6.46 billion state funds when he was governor of the state.

The interim forfeiture order to attach Sylva’s properties was granted by Justice A. R Mohammed on December 28, 2012.

Assets belonging to the former governor against which a forfeiture order was obtained by the EFCC include a mansion at 3 River Niger Street, plot 3192 Cadastral zone AO, Maitama District Abuja; nine units (comprising six one bedroom and 3 two bedroom apartments) at 8 Sefadu Street Wuse zone 2, plot 262 Cadastral zone AO2, Wuse Abuja; 2 units duplexes at 5 Oguta Street, plot 906 Cadastral zone Wuse 11 Abuja.
Others are a duplex at Plot 1271 Nike Street Cadastral zone AO5, Maitama District Abuja; a duplex at Phase 1 Unit No. 1 (Villa 1) Palm Springs Gold Estate, Cachez Turkey Projects Limited, Mpape, Abuja; 10 units of one room apartments at 8 Mistrata Street plot 232 Cadastral zone Wuse 11 Abuja; 5 units duplexes at Plot No 1070 Dakibiyu District Cadastral zone B10, Abuja; 16 units service apartments at Plot 1181 Thaba Tseka Crescent, Off IBB Way, Wuse 11, Abuja and 3 units of three bedroom flats at No. 1 Mubi Close, Plot 766. Sylva was first arraigned on Tuesday June 5, 2012. The first three of the six count charge against him reads: “ That you, Timpre Sylva, as Governor of Bayelsa State, with others now at large, sometime between October, 2009 and February, 2010, at various places in Nigeria, including Abuja, within the jurisdiction of the Federal High Court did conspire to commit a crime to wit: conversion of properties and resources amounting toN2,000,000,000.00 (Two Billion Naira) belonging to Bayelsa State Government and derived from an illegal act, with the aim of concealing the illicit origin of the said amount and you thereby committed an offence contrary to Section 17(a) of the Money Laundering (Prohibition Act), 2004 and punishable under Section 14(1) of the same Act.
“That you, Timpre Sylva, as Governor of Bayelsa State, with others now at large, on or about the 22nd of January, 2010, at Abuja, within the jurisdiction of the Federal High Court, converted the sum of N380,000,000.00 (Three Hundred and Eighty Million Naira), property of the Bayelsa State Government, through the account of one Habibu Sani Maigidia, a Bureau De Change Operator with Account No. 221433478108, in Fin Bank, Plc, which sum you knew represented the proceeds of an illegal act with the aim of concealing the nature of the proceeds of the said illegal act and you thereby committed an offence contrary to Section 14(1) of the Money Laundering (Prohibition Act) 2004 and also punishable under section 14(1) of the same Act.

“That you, Timpre Sylva, as Governor of Bayelsa State, with others now at large, on or about the 5th of February, 2010, at Abuja, within the jurisdiction of the Federal High Court, converted the sum of N50,000,000.00 (Fifty Million Naira), property of the Bayelsa State Government, through the account of one Enson Benmer Limited with Account No. 6152030001946, in First Bank, Plc, which sum you knew represented the proceeds of an illegal act with the aim of concealing the nature of the proceeds of the said illegal act and you thereby committed an offence contrary to Section 14(1) of the Money Laundering (Prohibition Act) 2004 and also punishable under section 14(1) of the same Act.”

The substantive suit is adjourned to 10th January, 2013.

News reaching us has it  that Baloteli's sister Barwuah Abigail is expecting a child with former Inter and Nigerian striker Obafemi Martins. According to Italian magazine Diva e Donna , Abigail – Balotelli’s biological sister – is pregnant and the father is believed to be Martins who now plays for Levante. Observers of the Manchester City player's temperament say this might lead to a family bust-up as Baloteli does not approve of the love birds' relationship.

There have been reports in the media that the Ghanaian-Italian Abigail and the Nigeria international, Martins, have been involved in a discrete but deep relationship that started in Milan, Italy when Martins was playing for Inter Milan.

The money I am talking about could be in the region of N100,000, N200,000, N250,000 ($1,000, $1,500, $2,000).


Those who have been working for many years and have never been satisfied with the job and salary they receive, the little limited resources at their disposal should be invested in foodstuff business or agriculture, especially those already married. They should divide themselves in such a way that either the husband or wife should step down from service where they receive salary and face agriculture.
Foodstuff business and agriculture or farming are anointed businesses this New Year, to revive the world from economic depression. This is the secret of God revealed to you today. Quote me; you will not regret doing it.

FG Set To Distribute N60Billion Worth Of Phones To Nigerian Farmers.

The Federal Government has said it would distribute 10 million mobile telephones to farmers to boost agricultural production in the country. 

The Permanent secretary in the Federal Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, Mrs. Ibikun Odusote disclosed this at a sensitization programme for farmers at Igan-Ipabi in Ijebu-East Local Government Area of Ogun on Wednesday. 

She said the distribution of the phones was one of the steps being taken by the ministry to ensure food security in Nigeria. She added that the Ministry of Information Technology and relevant stakeholders like network providers had been contacted to ensure effective distribution of the phones. 

"As part of the electronic-wallet which we are promoting, the handsets will be the toll with which we will communicate to farmers in the rural areas. 

The Permanent Secretary said that the network providers will extend their networks into rural areas where normally they will say there is no economic viability. "The Federal 
Government will be putting some support into this, they will go into the hinterlands and expand their network so that we can have access," Odusote explained. 

She said appropriate measures had been taken to commence the distribution exercise before the end of the first quarter, as well as providing the farmers with solar-powered lamps for charging the phones. Odusote noted that the phones will be bought directly from the manufacturing companies; 
some of which have expressed readiness to partner with the ministry and invest in the sector.

Nigerian Student,Kelvin Lakoju Commits Suicide In India.

According to The Times of India, a 28-year-old Nigerian student allegedly committed suicide after jumping off the second floor of his rented accommodation in Sector 41. Police said preliminary probe suggests that the deceased, Kelvin Lakoju, aka 'Biggie' was in depression.

Kelvin had been living in Noida since 2009 and was pursuing a photography course from an institute in Film City. Cops said he jumped off around 11pm on Wednesday January 2nd. 

"We have questioned some people and came to know that he was upset for some reasons," said deputy SP, S Chinappa.
"His friends said Kelvin was good at studies. Some personal problem could be the reason for committing suicide," said a senior police officer.

Some sources do however allege that Kevin was pushed, others say he was killed then pushed. The Nigerian Embassy and the deceased's family have been informed about the incident. It is hoped that Nigerian authorities in India will do some investigation into the alleged suicide, and hopefully
corroborate the suicide story, if indeed it was a suicide.

Dana Air Resumes Flights.

Dana Air, infamous for its June 3 2012, crash that killed 153 people on board in Lagos  resumed flights activities in the Nigerian Airspace, after a 7 months hiatus. This comes after the Nigerian Civil Aviation Agency found it airworthy and insurance claims have been received by families of most of the crash victims. Tickets were sold  for Abuja – Lagos route and will be another alternative to the three operating airlines – Arik, Aero and IRS – in Nigeria, as people return to work after the holidays

Exclusive Pictures Of Roberto Mancini And Balotelli's Fight During Training.

Mario Balotelli was involved in a furious shoving match with Roberto Mancini at training on thursday after the Manchester City manager ordered him off the field for a late lunge at winger Scott Sinclair.

City’s combustible Italian striker took a swipe at Sinclair towards the end of training at Carrington today and was immediately told to go in and get changed by Mancini, who is fast running out of patience with the 22-year-old.

However, Balotelli steadfastly refused to leave the field, prompting Mancini to shove him towards the touchline and attempt to physically drag him from the field.

'It looked like Mario was too strong and he couldn't get him down. Then all the coaches ran in to separate them but Mancini was having none of it. He kept trying to break free and have a go at him again.'

After the incident, Balotelli drove off in his camouflage Bentley GT.  He has a history of irritating his manager, leading to much speculation he will be sold.

When Balotelli was sent off against Arsenal last season, his furious manager intimated that it was the end of the line for the striker.

After that game Mancini said: 'I can continue to play with Mario on the pitch. Every time, we risk one sent off, like today.'

Then asked for how long he would put up with the striker's antics, he said:  'I am finished. We have six games and he will not play in the next six games (because of suspension).'

Other incidents which antagonised his manager include the time he was caught throwing darts at youth team players at the training ground and him staying up late before the Manchester derby - after letting off fireworks in his house.

The drama comes just after former team-mate Zlatan Ibrahimovic claimed Balotelli offered City the best chance of retaining their Barclays Premier League title.

He believes Mancini should continue to take the rough with the smooth and persist with the precociously talented striker.

'If you ever spend any time with Mario then you love Mario,' said the 31-year-old Swede, who has been no stranger to controversy himself during a 13-year career at the highest level.

'Even though he is not always the easiest player for the coach to manage, speak to any of his old coaches like Jose (former Inter and current Real Madrid boss Mourinho) and they will tell you when you work with Mario you always have a smile on your face.'

Ibrahimovic, who has netted 18 goals in just 16 games for Paris Saint-Germain this season, believes that Balotelli can inspire City to claw back the seven-point lead Manchester United currently hold over them in the title race.

'He is a special player and a special talent,' added the former Milan, Barcelona and Juventus man. 'When Mario plays like he can he will hurt any team in the world.

'Manchester City are already a way behind Manchester United in the Premier League – but if any player can retain the title for them it is Mario. All the class that Manchester City have I would still say Mario is the most capable.'
