Abacha's Son Faces New Trial in Switzerland.

The son of Nigeria's former dictator Sani Abacha, Abba Abacha, will face a new trial in Switzerland starting July 4 on charges of participation in a criminal organisation that raided public funds, his lawyer said Friday.
Abba's lawyer, Christian Luescher, told Swiss news agency ATS that his client wanted to come to Geneva to attend the trial.
During a previous trial in 2010, Abba did not attend as he was unable to obtain a visa. The court convicted him in absentia, handing down a two-year suspended prison term and confiscating his assets.
But he won an appeal over procedural irregularities and the fact that he was unable to obtain a visa in time. The Swiss Federal Tribunal therefore ordered the sentence annulled and a retrial.
If he is unable to get a visa this time, the new trial would be delayed.
Abba, 43, denies all charges.
Sani Abacha took over power in 1993. Until his death in 1998, he siphoned off an estimated more than $2 billion from the country's central bank, including $700 million that was deposited in Swiss banks. Nigeria later recovered that amount.

Mande Bala, 48, arrested at Murtala Muhammed Airport with 66 wraps of narcotics in private part

Mande Bala, 48, arrested at Murtala Muhammed Airport with 66 wraps of narcotics in private part
Law enforcement agents and travellers were last week astonished when 66 wraps of narcotics, which tested positive to methamphetamine, were discovered in the private part of Mande Bala, 48, at the screening section of the Murtala Muhammed International Airport in Lagos on June 15, 2012.
The lady was promptly arrested by officials of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency shortly before she was due to board a Kenyan Airways flight to Nairobi.
The NDLEA Commander at the airport, Hamza Umar, confirmed the arrest. He said, “The quantity of drugs that Bala had inserted in her private part was so much that it affected her gait, drawing the attention of the NDLEA officials. No suspect has ever inserted such a large quantity of drugs in the country. Usually, cases of insertion are not more than 300g. The discovery was shocking.”
CRIME DIGEST gathered that in all, the 66 wraps of methamphetamine expelled from Bala’s private part weighed 1kg.

Eazzy threatens to dump Keitta Osei

Sexy songstress Eazzy, who represented Ghana in the Big Brother Africa StarGame reality show, has stated emphatically that she will break up with Keitta Osei if he gets sexually involved with any of the housemates in the Big Brother house.
Eazzy and Keitta, her boyfriend, represented Ghana as a couple in the Downville house of the reality show.
The two were the first couple to ever enter the 91-day show and were unfortunately separated after Eazzy was evicted and Keitta upgraded to the Upville house.
Keitta is undoubtedly the hottest guy in that house. He is the prey of the females in the house especially Maneta, who was unfortunately disqualified from the show Tuesday.
In spite of the numerous temptations, the ‘Go Go wind’ singer, in an interview on Hang Out on Cruise Control on Hitz FM with Kwame B, said she was always careful in her relationships not to cheat and expected that her partner reciprocated that gesture.
According to her, “I don’t forgive. I forgive a lot of things but not unfaithfulness.”
The decision to end the relationship with the brother of hip life’s originator, Reggie Rockstone, should he break their love code, is borne out of her vows not to share her man with anyone.
“It’s just me and how I like my relationships. I am a one-woman one-man kind of thing and it’s a bond that we’ve established,” she said.

Candle Light Memorial For DANA Flight 992 Crash Victims in Lagos

Families, friends and relatives of the victims of the June 3rd DANA Flight 992 Crash at Iju-Ishaga came together in a candle light procession in Lagos today.

Muslim and Christian clerics who gave admonishing sermons at the event did not hide their opinions as to the cause of the tragic crash of the craft.

Pastor Itua Ighodalo of the Trinity House in his message said the crash was as a result of the criminal negligence of government and Nigerian airline officials.

The candleLight procession was further dampened by reports of suicide bombings of churches and reprisal attacks in Northern parts of the
 country.

Every Sunday has been Black Sunday in the last one month in Nigeria as Islamist militants strike at churches in various parts of Northern Nigeria.
