Dangers Of Using Fake Eyelashes.

Beautiful eyelashes are the key to striking eyes, and along with everything else that people have withstood for the sake of looking more attractive, fake eyelashes are one of the best ways to enhance your beauty. Using fake eyelashes is by far the easiest and cheapest way to achieve the much-desired ultra-feminine, sexy look, and the fixing of eyelashes have become an increasing popular trend that every fashionista is following, especially one that wants to look perfect, prim and proper.

The elongation of the lashes by fixing false ones adds a dazzling look to the eye and makes it stand out. It's also an alternative to applying mascara, since not everyone can be careful and meticulous in applying it to get the perfect look. However, the problem is that there are certain side effects of wearing fake lashes.


Trapping Dirt

Hygiene-wise, false eyelashes are a risk as they tend to trap dirt and bacteria. Natural eyelashes prevent dirt, foreign material, sweat and bacteria from entering into the eyes, by trapping and keeping out anything that comes near the eyes. But fake eyelashes tend to trap and hold anything that comes around them. These harmful particles that are trapped most times cause irritation to the eyelids and eyes. This is probably the most dangerous side effect because over a period of time this irritation caused by fake lashes may result in blindness if proper care is not taken to having it professionally fixed.


Allergic Reactions


Fixing of fake lashes can also cause an allergic reaction to the skin and eyes, which can stem from the adhesive used to attach the fake lashes unto the eyes. Dr. Benson Ohueri, a practising optometrist says that the false lashes do not have anything to do with the eyes, but then it is the chemicals in the glue used in fixing the lashes on to the eyes that is harmful because if not properly handled, the glue can get into one's eyes and since it contains chemicals, it can cause a lot of problems for the eyes like cornea inflation, irritation and alteration to the eyes.


He also said that he does not advise ladies to wear false eyelashes all the time because it thins out the original lashes on the eyelids which is not healthy. If eyelashes are not properly fixed, they can also cause redness of the eyes which is the most common among the side effects. To avert such irritation, it is advised that you go to an experienced professional if it is your first fixing, and a patch test will be carried out to find out if your skin is allergic to any of the materials about to be used.


Damage to Natural Lashes


According to Dr. Ohueri, a practising optometrist in Abuja, the natural lashes can also be damaged if artificial lashes are not properly fixed on the eyelids. They can get into the eyes and cause a lot of problems. Also, the use of harmful chemicals on the eyelashes can cause them to fall quicker than they naturally would and artificial lashes cause the eyelashes to shed quicker than they are supposed to.


The pressure exerted in fixing the lashes can also cause damage to the hair follicles of the eyelids, thus making the natural lash to become sparse, brittle and break off easily due to too much pressure on them, leading to slow growth or it even stops their growth permanently. Dr. Ohueri suggests that false lashes should only be used on special occasions when you need to inspire a totally new look which the lashes will create for you.


Experiences of Fixing Lashes


As against the thought that one cannot do certain things when having fake lashes, Miss Chiggy does not have such belief. She said that depending on where you got them fixed and the quality of lash used, you can do whatever activity you want with false lashes like swimming, bathing and washing the face even though people think that when you have it fixed you cannot wash your face properly. She said that they are durable and last for two weeks before she goes for a re-fix. When asked if she gets tired of fixing it, she replies that she really never had natural lashes on her eyelids and so she does not see it as odd on her, but instead it is normal to her.


Rita is at loss for words for she is a victim of continued fake lash fixing and there is no going back now. She had full lashes before but wanted more and now is hooked and does not feel beautiful if she does not have one fixed. So now, no matter the financial constraints she has, she must get her lashes fixed when it is due. According to her, she is hopeless about the situation.


According to Aisha, she fixes fake lashes once in a while especially when she has important functions to attend like weddings, where everyone wants to stand out and look her pretty best. Although she naturally has long lashes, having the fake one fixed gives it a fuller look which is more attractive.


On the other hand, Funmi has vowed never to fix fake lashes again. According to her, it made her very uncomfortable and itchy, and she kept having the feeling that there was something wrong with her eyes as she felt heaviness all around. Probably it was due to the fact that it was her first time, but not withstanding, she does not want to go through the stress again and has resigned herself to using her mascara as she has always done.


So whatever the case may be, it is best to get a clear picture before you decide to get artificial eyelashes fixed on you. Make sure you weigh the pros and cons and see how far you want to go with it. Stay beautiful and healthy as always.

Emirates Airlines Gets Approval To Fly Abuja And Kano InternationalAirports.

The Federal Government has confirmed the approval of Emirates Airlines to fly from both the Nnamdi Azikiwe and Mallam Aminu Kano International Airports.

50 Cent Avoids Jail For Domestic Violence Arrest.

In a case that usually attracts jail time, rapper 50 Cent has avoided going to the slammer after he was charged with domestic violence against his second baby mama.
In a deal worked out by his lawyers that removes a serious domestic violence charge, 50 has agreed to plead no contest to one count of misdemeanor vandalism and was sentenced on Monday to three years probation.
He must complete 30 days of community service and attend counseling, as well as pay $7,100 in restitution to Daphne Narvarez, the mother of his second child.The former couple got into a fight on June 23, when according to Narvarez, 50, whose real name is Curtis Jackson, kicked open a bedroom door at her Toluca Lake condo before kicking her. In August, he was charged with domestic violence and four counts of vandalism, and faced up to five years in prison if convicted

According to TMZ, a restraining order against the rapper remains in effective.

Rtd Rear Admiral Mike Akhigbe Dies Of Throat Cancer In New York.

Retired Admiral Mike Okhai Akhigbe, who played several roles in a number of military regimes in Nigeria, passed away today in New York City, SaharaReporters has confirmed.

A source close to the family told SR that Mr. Akhigbe breathed his last at 1.06 p.m. (New York time). He was surrounded by his wife, his children, and their spouses, our source disclosed.

The cause of death was throat cancer, said the source. SaharaReporters learnt that the former military administrator of Ondo and Lagos States first experienced symptoms of his disease in 2010. He was engaged in President Goodluck Jonathan’s campaign at the time, but took a leave to fly to Germany where doctors gave him the grim diagnosis. For three years, he underwent treatment for his cancer in Germany, the UK and the United States of America before finally succumbing to the disease earlier today. Over the last one month, the former naval officer received treatment at the Memorial Sloane Kettering Cancer Hospital in Manhattan. The hospital is one of the top treatment facilities for cancer in the world.

The Nigerian Consulate in New York also confirmed Mr. Akhigbe’s death, adding that they were conferring with the late officer’s family on plans to convey his remains back to Nigeria for burial.

Mr. Akhigbe worked under military regimes led by Ibrahim Babangida, Sani Abacha, and Abdulsalami Abubakar, holding positions at various times as a governor or member of the armed forces ruling council. He rose to become the Chief of General Staff under the Abdulsalami Abubakar regime. He was retired from military service in 1999 just as Olusegun Obasanjo took over power as Nigeria’s elected president.

The late naval officer, who hailed from Edo State, was 67 years old

Supervising Minister of Education, Nyesom Wike, on Monday commissioned 12 governing councils of parastatals and institutions, as well as two committees on Need Assessment for Polytechnics and Colleges of Education.

Chairing the Board of the National Universities Commission is a former Peoples Democratic Party Chairman, Dr. Ahmadu Ali, while Mrs. Yejide Ogundipe chairs the National Board of Technical Education.

Others appointed as chairmen are Prof. Greg Iwu, Teachers Registration Council of Nigeria; Chief Emmanuel Edohoeket, Nigeria French Language Village, Badagry; Dr. Tosin Awolalu, National Institute for Nigerian Language, Abia State; and Col. Theophilus Bamigboye (retd.), Federal Polytechnic Bida, Niger State.

Another Plane Crash Averted In Abuja.

Another air disaster was averted at the Nnamdi Azikwe Airport, Abuja on Monday as a Med-View Airlines aircraft from Lagos suddenly took to the air again at the point of landing in Abuja.
The pilot told the passengers that he took to the air again to avoid a collision with another aircraft on the tarmac.
The airline Flight VL2104 took off from the Murtala Muhammed Airport, Lagos at noon and was scheduled to land in Abuja at about 1.05pm.
The pilot had already announced final descent into Abuja and asked all passengers and cabin crew to fasten their seat belts but the pilot suddenly took off to the air again with barely 30 seconds to touch ground.
The plane had 150 passengers on board. A correspondent of The PUNCH was one of the passengers.
After about three minutes of gaining altitude, the pilot announced that he decided to take off again to avoid colliding with an aircraft that was on ground.
He said that after he had been granted clearance to land, it was later discovered that the other aircraft was not fast enough, hence his decision to take off.
The aircraft hovered for another 20 minutes in the air before finally landing at about 1.30pm.While the drama lasted, the passengers were panic-stricken, especially when the plane entered into turbulent weather on air.

Nigerian Nightclub Bouncer In Britain Jailed For Attacking And Raping A Woman In Her Home.

A Nigerian man who works as a nightclub bouncer who was twice spared from being deported from Britain back to Nigeria has been jailed for raping a woman in her own home - months after judges allowed him to stay in the country.

Idreez Popoola, 34, should have been deported in 2006 after his temporary UK visa expired but he was allowed to continue living and working in Britain.

In December 2011 he was arrested and was told he would have to return to his native Nigeria but he successfully appealed the ruling.

Judges granted the nightclub bouncer temporary leave to stay in January 2012 because he had a wife and child.

Then, 11 months later on December 29 last year, he attacked and raped a woman in her own home.

Campaigners today said the shocking case showed the need for an overhaul of immigration policy to keep dangerous criminals out of Britain.

Popoola was jailed for seven years at Northampton Crown Court on October 18 after he was found guilty of rape following a four day trial last month.

Sentencing, Judge Lynn Tayton told him: 'It was a serious aggravating factor that the rape took place in the victim’s own home as this was an abuse of the trust placed in you by the victim and has undermined her feelings of safety in her own space.'

He was also ordered to sign the Sex Offenders’ Register for life.

Judge Tayton also told him he would be automatically deported back to Nigeria on his release from prison

Nigerian Pilgrims Refuse To Say Amen When Pastor Oritsejafor Prayed For Aviation Minister At River Jordan.

According to SaharaReporters. New York,The latest effort by President Goodluck Jonathan to save the neck of his embattled Minister of Aviation, Stella Oduah, hit the rocks last night in Israel.

The Deputy Senate President, Ike Ekweremadu, who arrived in Jerusalem on Saturday, was drafted to broker peace between the Minister and members of the National Assembly who are currently investigating her stunning purchase of two BMW armored cars, a scam that was first exposed by SaharaReporters.
Ekweremadu called a meeting of two Nigerian lawmakers in the country, a Senator and a Member of the House of Representatives, to meet with the minister.  The meeting was attended by Ekweremadu, Stella Oduah, Rep. Jagaba Adams of Kaduna Kachiya/Kagarko federal constituency, and Senator Philip Aduda, who represents Abuja.  Also in attendance was Kola Adesina of Sahara Oil and Gas, a company now seen to be a front for President Jonathan.
 
However as the Minister declared her intention to "resolve" all differences by bribing both houses, Senator Aduda told her directly that it would be in her interest to return to Nigeria on Monday and appear before the House on Tuesday.  The Senator said while the Senate could be pacified by bribing the committee on Aviation led by Senator Hope Uzordimma, the House seemed hell-bent on getting to the bottom of the matter.
Following the advice of Adua, Rep. Jagaba told the Minister "Let's "get to Abuja first," suggesting that his ability to intervene on Mrs. Oduah's behalf depended on her returning home first.
Mrs. Oduah reportedly broke down at the meeting, pleading with Ekweremadu to use his wider contacts to save her.
 
The meeting ended without any specific resolution on how to help the Minister.
Meanwhile, a mild drama ensued at the River Jordan when the Nigerian delegation in Israel led by President Jonathan went there yesterday to offer prayers, led by the notoriously partisan President of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) Ayo Oritsejafor.  
After praying for President Jonathan and several dignitaries at the venue, Mr. Oritsejafor then specifically prayed for Mrs. Oduah, but to his surprise several people in the gathering refused to say "Amen" to his prayer, stunning the CAN president and Mr. Jonathan.  Several people then exchanged glances and moved on.
If President Jonathan thought the controversy about the BMW car scam would quickly away, he is mistaken, as calls for the prosecution of the Minister grew louder over the weekend as it emerged that the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA), the agency arm-twisted to purchase the cars, cannot physically locate them.  
Also today, the Abuja–based online news platform, PREMIUM TIMES, reported that the office of the National Security Adviser has said that neither the Minister nor the NCAA applied for, or received the mandatory "end user certificate" for the cars.  Similarly, several sources at the Federal Road Safety Corps have told SaharaReporters that the agency never presented the cars for licensing.
