Watch The 6 Minute Documentary ''Lagos Living''.

Bobo Omotayo is interviewed and filmed in this new 6-minute documentary based on his successful book; ‘London Life, Lagos Living’. It is directed by LA-based filmmaker, Francesca Tilley-Gyado.
Here Omotayo elaborates on slangs, phrases and metaphors used in his book which was released seven months ago. He also talks about his up bringing and the influence it had on his unique writing and interesting story angle.
This documentary is not so much a story of ‘the journey so far’ but more a snapshot into what a typical week is like for the author and contributors to the book. This documentary is testament that it is possible for a hopeless dreamer to dream in ‘flights of fancy’ but yet have his ‘flights’ for his singular critic.

Pastor (Mrs.) Connie Madubuko turned 50 years in 2008. Sources said that she developed a heart complications at home and died shortly before proper medical attention could come. When Will KeittaChange His Famous Boxers.

Ghana’s Keitta in the ongoing Big Brother Stargame’s boxers is getting the headlines.
Issues concerning his ‘famous’ boxers are buzzing on social media.
Read this:
There’s hairy business, then there’s smelly business.
While some of us have been preoccupied with all the Nominations and Evictions drama – which has made us sick with suspense and anticipation – a few vigilant StarGame faithful have been gripped by something else entirely.
From the looks of what is being said on the social networks, Keitta’s boxers are so famous right now, they deserve their own show. A show they might not get, but a post they definitely will!
The vigilant Underwear Police aka U.P. have been working overtime; pouncing on and zooming in on Keitta’s underwear transgressions. Hey, we were taught not to really look down there so it was more than surprising (and a bit embarrassing) to stumble upon unabashed underwear talk. Preacher at a Porn Convention? Yikes, that’s us! It looks like the StarGame masses have skills that would leave the FBI proud.
The internet is abuzz with comments like these:

Walcott Wants To Walk Out Of Arsenal As Well.........

The England star, 23, is devastated by Van Persie’s decision not to renew his contract at the Emirates.
Winger Walcott is in an identical position to the Dutch striker, as he is entering the final year of his current deal.
Walcott has always maintained that he would refrain from committing his own future until Van Persie showed his hand.
The two players are extremely close, on and off the field.
Friends claim Van Persie’s decision will have a huge impact on Chelsea target Walcott. Informal talks have already taken place between Arsenal and Walcott’s advisers.
On the table is a new four-year deal that would take his wages of £55,000-a-week to around £80,000.
But Walcott has the option of leaving on a Bosman free transfer next summer or face being sold now if the Gunners refuse to allow him to walk away for nothing.
The only way Arsenal can keep him is to seriously up their offer.
And they must also convince him they are prepared to invest heavily to compete for honours, which they failed to do with Van Persie.

A Nigeria-American Feanyichi Uvukansi, 25, has been arrested as the main suspect in a Houston strip club shooting that left three people dead and injured rapper Trae Tha Truth.
The rapper, whose legal name is Frazier Thompson III, and 37-year-old Willie Watkins, were shot and wounded in the incident. Later, Trae would tweet a picture of himself in a hospital bed.
According to police records, Uvukansi has an extensive criminal history, which includes a 2008 convictions for misdemeanor marijuana possession, misdemeanor criminal mischief, felony possession of a controlled substance, a felony burglary charge that appears to have been reduced to a misdemeanor criminal trespass charge, and felony assault of a public servant.

Alisher Usmanov Second Largest Shareholder In Arsenal Accuses Board Of Selling Best Players And Replacing Them With Cheap Players.

Robin van Persie's decision not to renew contract gives Alisher Usmanov opportunity to attack Arsenal board
Robin van Persie has decided not to renew his Arsenal contract

The splits at the top of Arsenal deepened after Alisher Usmanov, the second largest shareholder, joined captain Robin van Persie in launching a public attack on the club’s strategy. In a wide-ranging and scathing five-page letter, Usmanov accused Arsenal's board, which is led by majority shareholder Stan Kroenke, of selling the club’s best players and replacing them with cheaper alternatives. He also expressed his “deep reservations” about their policies, which he claimed were causing players to question their futures and the club’s ambitions.
The timing of the letter, less than 24 hours after Van Persie’s announcement that he would not sign a new contract, could hardly have been worse for Arsenal. The club, however, maintain that they are fully committed to a self-funding approach which, they argue, will secure both their long-term future and ultimately also offer the best chance of success.read more here

Kolo and Chris(Daily Trust Reporter)

Etihad Airways, lead sponsor of Manchester City Football Club (MCFC), has hosted a special football clinic for students in Lagos, with Ivorian international and MCFC central defender, Kolo Toure and three of the club's trainers.
The clinic took place at FunTurf in Lekki, Lagos, and was attended by 50 students, aged between 11 and 16, from Victoria Island Secondary School. The youngsters received tips from Kolo and the MCFC club coaches, who are fresh from winning the English Premier League.
Peter Baumgartner, Chief Commercial Officer for Etihad Airways said: "It was fantastic to see Kolo Toure, a football superstar, teaching the youngsters at the Etihad Airways Manchester City Football Clinic and helping to celebrate the launch of our flights between Abu Dhabi and Lagos.
Etihad Airways has a proud tradition of hosting grass roots sporting events and so to host our first overseas clinic with Kolo, and our friends and Premier League champions from Manchester City FC, is a very special moment."
Kolo said: "It's great to be in Lagos on behalf of Manchester City, not only to celebrate the launch of Etihad Airways' new service to Abu Dhabi, but also to help develop local football in the region. Nigeria is a country known for its passion and love of the game, which has produced many great footballers in the past.
"Hopefully through the Etihad Airways Manchester City soccer clinic, the coaches and I can help children learn new skills that will bring them one step closer to following their dreams."
Also speaking at the event, the principal of Victoria Island Secondary School, Mrs. Adegbesan said: "This is a great sporting initiative for our school.
Most of these students would never have had the opportunity they were given.
"We thank Etihad Airways, Manchester City Football Club and Kolo Toure for helping the development of grassroots football."
The children were treated to an array of football tips, which included trying to master Kolo's renowned defensive skills. The clinic concluded with a special match with Kolo coaching and encouraging the children.
On Monday, 2 July, Etihad Airways marked the launch of its new service between Lagos and Abu Dhabi by flying in its 'Blue Moon Rising' A330-200 aircraft, painted in MCFC's sky blue colours.

Rihanna In Trouble For Failing To Pay Taxes Between 2008-2010.

Troubled singer Rihanna, 24, is in BIG trouble with the IRS after failing to pay taxes on “tens of millions” of dollars in revenue she earned as a multi-platinum singer from 2008-2010.
This news comes just one week after singer Lauryn Hill pleaded guilty to tax evasion. Hill faces prison time for failing to file her tax returns.
But Rihanna’s problems are more complex, according to a report in the NY Post today.
Court papers show Rihanna is “undergoing a costly audit by the IRS over her returns from 2008 through 2010.” And that the audit is a “direct result” of negligence by the Berdon accounting firm — which Rihanna fired in 2010.

From the NY Post:
The Manhattan federal court filing also alleges that Berdon — which Rihanna fired in 2010 — defrauded her and her Tourihanna company out of untold “tens of millions of dollars in lost revenues and profits,” by hiding the true state of her finances while charging “exorbitant and excessive” commissions that exceeded her own income.
For example, she says the firm made millions from her 2009 “Last Girl on Earth” tour, even though its “gross mismanagement” caused her to lose a bundle.
Rihanna also blames the firm for her disastrous purchase of a $6.9 million Beverly Hills mansion in 2009, saying since-retired Berdon accountant Michael Mitnick told her it “would be a good investment,” while failing “to explain the true nature of her financial situation at that time.”
It is typical of narcissists to blame others for their misfortunes rather than accept responsibility for their own poor judgment.
There is no excuse for not knowing whether your taxes have been filed.

Medical Breakthrough :With Ovarian Transplant,Women Can Now Remain Fertile Indefinetly And Delay Menopause.

Women could remain fertile indefintely after successful ovarian transplants lead to births and delay the menopause, doctors have told a conference.

Women could remain fertile indefinitely after successful ovarian transplants lead to births and delay the menopause, doctors have told a conference. A technique to remove pieces of ovary, store it for decades and then replace it with delicate surgery could effectively put a woman's menopause 'on ice', doctors said.
The only thing preventing them from having babies into their old age would be their physical ability to carry a pregnancy, they said.
The controversial notion would allow career women peace of mind with a fertility insurance policy so they can find a partner, settle down and become financially secure before starting a family.
By delaying the menopause they could also avoid the increased risk of osteoporosis and heart disease that come with the end of their fertile life but may raise the risk of breast and womb cancer.
A conference heard how 28 babies have been born worldwide to patients who either had their own ovarian tissue removed before treatment that would have left them infertile and replaced afterwards or twins where one donated tissue to the other.

The controversial notion would allow career women peace of mind with a fertility insurance policy so they can find a partner, settle down and become financially secure before starting a family .

President Goodluck Jonathan on Thursday set up another committee that will review the findings of the Aigboje Aig Imoukhuede led Technical Committee set up by the Federal Ministry of Finance to conduct a detailed review of all subsidy claims and payments made in 2011.
The Technical Committee had in the report which it recently submitted to the Ministry of Finance accused some oil marketers of collecting over N400 billion in subsidy payment without importing petroleum products into the country.
However, many of the oil marketers have rejected the claims in the report. Some of the companies indicted for receiving subsidy payments without importing products into the country also said the Committee failed to invite them or request for necessary documents that could facilitated its investigations before it reached its conclusions.
The credibility of the document was also put in doubt with revelations that only Aig-Imokhuede, the Chairman of the Committee signed the report.
There have also been speculation that some members of the 15-man committee are planning to write a minority report.
In a statement signed on his behalf by Reuben Abati, his spokesperson today, President Goodluck Jonathan the new Committee is set up to verify and reconcile the findings of the Aig-Imokhuede Technical Committee.
“President Jonathan has directed the 15-member committee headed by Mr. Aigboje Aig-Imoukhuede to begin work immediately and conclude its assignment by 1700 hours on Friday, July 13, 2012 as a prelude to immediate action on all identified cases of fraud”,Abati said in the statement.
“Other members of the new committee are: Dr. Abraham Nwankwo (DG DMO), Mr. Bernard Otti (GED Finance & Accounts, NNPC), Mrs. Oyinye Ahuchogu (CBN), Mrs. Sola David-Borha (MD Stanbic/IBTC, representing the Banking Community), Mr. Mike Osatuyi (National Secretary, IPMAN), Mr. Obafemi Olawore, Mr. Jonah Otunla (Accountant-General of the Federation), Mr. Bright Okogwu (DG, Budget Office), Mr. Reginald Stanley (Executive Secretary, PPPRA), Mrs. Aisha Waziri-Umar and Mr. Jalal Arabi.
“The Attorney-General of the Federation, the Inspector-General of Police and the Director-General of the State Security Service will also be represented on the Committee which has the following terms of reference:
1. To further verify and reconcile all claims made in the report of the Technical Committee on Fuel Subsidy Payments;
2. To properly identify all cases of overpayment and/or irregular payment;
3. To accurately identify all likely fraudulent cases for criminal investigation and
4. To review any other pertinent issues that may arise from its work and make appropriate recommendations.
“On receiving the Verification and Reconciliation Committee’s report, President Jonathan will order whatever action he deems necessary to ensure justice and the full recovery of all fuel subsidy funds that may have been illegally paid”, President Jonathan concluded in the statement.

Arsenal FC Postpones Pre-season Game Against Super Eagles.

Arsenal Football Club on Wednesday announced it is reluctantly postponing its proposed trip to Nigeria this summer.

The Club on its website said it took the decision as a result of complexities linked to the planned game against Nigeria on Saturday, August 5 in Abuja.
Arsenal marketing director Angus Kinnear said: “Bringing a top-level club to an international market is always complicated and logistically challenging. With the proposed match in Nigeria planned for early August, we could not get comfortable on everything needed to satisfy our requirements, so we have reluctantly taken the decision to postpone the team’s visit.”
Kinnear continued: “We have a huge and loyal following in Africa, and we are sorry that the team will not be visiting this summer. However, we have a long-term commitment to Nigeria and we are already making plans for a visit next summer.
“In addition, we also have some exciting forthcoming activities planned with our commercial partners in Nigeria – Emirates, Airtel and Malta Guinness, which will kick off in the next few weeks.”
The divisional senior vice-president, corporate communications of Emirates said: “Emirates shares Arsenal’s disappointment that the team’s visit to Nigeria has been postponed. We look forward to working with Arsenal to bring the Club closer to its loyal Nigerian fans through new initiatives over the coming months.”
A UK Football promoter, David Omigie of DanJan Sports had last month announced that English Premier League side Arsenal will on August 5 play the Super Eagles of Nigeria in a pre-season match in Abuja.
The London club traditionally hosts an annual pre-season tournament at the Emirates Stadium, but they opted to postpone the event for a year because of the 2012 London Olympics.
The visit to Nigeria would have concluded Arsenal’s pre-season after tours to both China and Malaysia in July.

Bowing to pressure from graduates, their parents and other organizations, the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) is to redeploy prospective corps members who have been posted to "volatile states" in Northern Nigeria.

Several stakeholders, including the House of Representatives and some state Houses of assembly, have been voicing their opposition to the posting of graduates from the South to the troubled Northern states. From Daily Echo UK Comes This Report That ''Prophet T.B. Joshua Predicted King Davidson's WBO World Title Win''.

King Davidson

King Davidson
King Davidson, right, takes on Joseph Lamptey in Southampton
KING Davidson has revealed the inspiration behind his WBO International light middleweight victory – a Nigerian prophet who predicted he would become a world champion.
The 27-year-old has been followed his whole career by Nigerian minister and televangelist T.B. Joshua, who gained notoriety for apparently predicting the death of Michael Jackson and faith healing injured sports stars such as Joseph Yobo.
T.B. Joshua founded The Synagogue, Church of All Nations in Nigeria, which attracts 15,000 followers to its weekly services and claims to have healed people will incurable diseases.
Joshua has backed Davidson, both finically and spiritually, and called the Southampton-based fighter moments before he entered the ring to defeat Joseph Lamptey to win the WBO title.
Davidson said: “He called me five minutes before my fight and said ‘be very careful of your opponent, he will try and hit you in the stomach.’ “He then asked me what I would do if someone tries to fight like that. I told him ‘to put up a good guard and keep out of reach.’ “He then said ‘you’ve got the key, now just do it, I know you will win.’ “It inspired me to go out and win and I want to thank him so much for following me throughout this career and everything he has said about me has come to pass.“He said to me I would become a world champion.
“He told me from the start that this is written in the heavens and no one can change this destiny other than me if I take the wrong path in life.
“He put his reputation on the line and said to people that if I did not become a world champion then they should never ever respect him again.”
Davidson is already receiving offers of fights to defend his title but is about to jet off to Australia for a short break to see his son before coming back and making a decision.
However, he is adamant he would like to make one defence in Nigeria, in front of T.B. Joshua, and then hopes to quickly follow that up with another big fight back in Southampton.

PHOTOS - The Mario Balotelli & The Barwuah Family Saga, Who Is Telling The Truth?

Abigail Barwuah-Mario's sister
Abigail Baloteli's sister

This story of ‘father abandoning child or not taking care of child’ brings back into mind the Michael Essien and Dad issue. I hope that one has been finally settled…
Even if I were Mario, I would have found it difficult to accept the explanation the Barwuah family is giving no matter how convincing it sounds.
I would prefer to die with my own family than to be given out to another family…Why did they even have a child in the first place if they did not have the means to take care of the child?
Anyway, after reading the below piece, I would love to hear what you think….If you were Mario, who would you love more? The family who took you in even though you were under death alert or the one which was so scared to the extent that they gave you away? I hope you choose the former!
…………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………
Inside Thomas and Rose Barwuah’s third-floor council flat above a row of shops in Bagnolo Mella, on the outskirts of Brescia in northern Italy, photographs of their family adorn the walls.
There are pictures of their four children — Abigail, 22, Mario, 19, Enoch, 17, and Angel, 11. But it is Mario who takes centre stage. There are photos of him as a baby and then a toddler growing up in the Sicilian city of Palermo, kicking a football, in a suit at a family party and play-fighting with brother Enoch as Rose looks on.
But Mario is no longer a Barwuah. He has taken the surname of his adopted family, Balotelli. The toddler has grown up into an Inter Milan striker and Champions League winner valued at around £29million.
The player they call ‘Super Mario’ claims his natural parents abandoned him when he was two years old. The grainy images in the Barwuahs’ humble flat in Bagnolo Mella, a sleepy town of terracotta buildings, haphazard cobbled streets and a population of just 13,000, are therefore the only connection they have with their eldest son.
Mr Barwuah picks up a picture of a three-year-old Mario holding a football. It was taken at a friend’s home in Vicenza, a 90-minute drive from Bagnolo Mella.
‘Mario had spent hours playing football in the rain,’ said Mr Barwuah. ‘When the boys came in they were soaked but they were laughing and joking despite being wet. My friend said to Mario, “You really are Super Mario”. It’s the name we gave him.’
Mr Barwuah — a ‘poor metal worker’, as he puts it — is a proud man. But the strain on his face is obvious when he says Balotelli has only invited him to one Inter match in four years, the 2-1 Champions League win over Chelsea in February. Even then it was a second-hand invitation and a match in which Balotelli only played the last 32 minutes.
‘He turned up one day with four tickets and he gave them to his brother, Enoch,’ said Mr Barwuah. ‘I asked if I could come and watch and he said that Enoch had the tickets and he could do what he wanted with them.
‘He has never remembered us. Not a birthday or Christmas, nothing. He is not the same boy I knew when he was younger — always laughing and smiling. He was trouble but in a good way.’
Trouble, it seems, has followed Mario Balotelli throughout his turbulent 19-year life.
Born to Ghanaian immigrants Rose and Thomas on August 12, 1990, in Palermo, the future athlete was in and out of hospital as a baby. Mr Barwuah was forced to find work away from home and shuttled back and forth every weekend on a 12-hour overnight train. Mrs Barwuah was left at home with two young children — Abigail and Mario. Life was hard, to say the least.Mr Barwuah said: ‘There were complications with Mario’s intestines and he was in a bad way. The doctors were worried that he would not survive and we even had him baptised in hospital in case he died.
The Barwuah FamilyThe Barwuah Family
‘For a year we were frantic with worry that he would not live. He was our first-born son and we were so proud when he was born, but we were left facing the prospect he
might die.’
Mario’s condition improved by the spring of 1992 and the family moved to Brescia, a wealthy industrial city with a rich vein of factories and industries looking for workers.
At first they lived in a cramped studio flat with another African family before asking social services for help, pointing out Mario had recently recovered from an operation.
Social workers suggested Mario should be fostered. They proposed Francesco and Silvio Balotelli, who already had two sons and a daughter of their own. The Balotellis, a white Italian family, lived in a large house in Concesio, an affluent town six miles north of Brescia. They could offer two-year-old Mario a lifestyle of which Mr Barwuah and his wife could only dream.
Mr Barwuah said: ‘At first we were not sure but we decided it was probably best for Mario. We saw him every week and we all got on really well.
‘We thought that at some point, once things had sorted out, Mario would come back to us. But instead, every time we tried to get him back, the Balotellis kept extending the foster time.’
Mr Barwuah said the family initially agreed to a one-year foster placement, which was then extended by a further 12 months. But their eldest son gradually slipped further and further away from them.
‘We couldn’t afford lawyers to fight for us, so Mario grew more and more distant,’ he said.
‘He would come and visit and play with his brothers and sisters but he just didn’t seem to have any time for us, his mother and father.
‘We wanted him back for more than 10 years but, every time we tried, the courts blocked it and as the years passed he became colder towards us. The Balotellis know
people and are influential and we could do nothing.’ Balotelli was never officially adopted but made a conscious decision to turn his back on his Ghanaian heritage. He took the surname of his adopted parents and represented Italy’s Under 21 side.
Perhaps it was the teenager’s way of surviving in the racially charged cauldron of northern Italy, where he was regarded as an outsider.
As his foster mother has said: ‘He was born and raised in Italy but had to suffer the humiliation and hardships of being considered a foreigner.’
In 2008, on his 18th birthday, Balotelli gained Italian citizenship and an Italian identification card — at a ceremony at Concesio’s city hall to which the Barwuahs were
not invited.
‘We didn’t know anything about that until we saw it on the news,’ said Mr Barwuah. ‘I didn’t even know he had taken the surname Balotelli. I thought he would still have our surname.’
It was also in 2008 that Balotelli claimed during a television interview that his birth parents had abandoned him in a hospital. The footballer had by then found fame at Inter Milan and claimed the Barwuahs were only interested in him for his money.
‘If I didn’t become Mario Balotelli then Mr and Mrs Barwuah would not have cared about me for anything,’ he said.
The accusation is deeply painful for Balotelli’s biological father, but Mr Barwuah’s patience is running out. His response is passionate and exasperated. He knows there is little chance of change now.
Mr Barwuah said: ‘Mario was convinced we had abandoned him in a hospital but that’s just not true. That is the Balotelli family putting something into his head and it really hurts.
‘We have always loved Mario but he has changed. It’s the Balotellis — they have made him turn against us.
‘How can he say we just want to know him for his money? It’s not true. We don’t want any money. We are Christians.
‘Do you know what he has started saying now? That we beat him as a child. It’s a lie. We never touched him. We would never beat him. We gave him all the love we could.
‘We have done nothing wrong. We want more than anything to have our son back but now I think it’s too late.’Mr Barwuah said he saw Mario last month and the striker told
him he would be moving to Manchester. But there will be no family visits to England this season.
Mr Barwuah turns to those family snaps again, much-loved pictures that have been perused thousands of times.
‘Like any father, I wish him well. I was so proud when he joined Inter and I am still proud of him,’ he said.
‘I don’t want anything from him. I just want us to be how we were.
‘We did not leave Mario. Why would we have these pictures of us together?

David and Elana Barnes provoked outraged cries of 'irresponsible parenting' after they posted a video of their 5-year-old daughter swimming with sharks onto YouTube
However, they still would have let Anaia, 5, swim with sharks during their vacation in the Bahamas because 'life is too short to be boring', they argued on ABC's Good Morning America today. The Youtube video became an internet sensation with some users slamming the Connecticut parents' decision as 'dangerous' and 'reckless' while others praised the couple's adventurous nature.
The video, which has been viewed more than 21,000 times since it was put up on June 20, shows 5-year-old Anaia swimming with reef, lemon and nurse sharks.

The footage shows that Anaia is swimming with instructors and a group of adults.

In the Youtube post, Elana wrote: ‘We swam with Reef, Lemon, and Nurse sharks, all very low on the aggression index, yet still very thrilling! Put it on your bucket list!'

Nurse sharks and lemon sharks are generally gentle and not aggressive towards humans whereas reef sharks are considered to be more of a threat to humans.

Shopaholics: Women spend a fortune on clothes during their lives but 60% confessed to having nothing to wear when it came to getting ready for work or a night out

New research has finally confirmed what husbands have suspected for years - that women spend a fortune on clothes and still have nothing to wear.
The average woman spends nearly £84,000 on clothes in a lifetime but despite this rather frightening sum 60 per cent still struggle to find something to wear to work or on a night out with friends.
The poll taken of more than 1000 adults also shows that women buy roughly 3,109 items over the years including 271 pairs of shoes (£13,989), 185 dresses (£7,699) and 145 bags (£5,420).
Shopaholics Women spend a fortune on clothes during their lives but 60% confessed to having nothing to wear when it came to getting ready for work or a night out
In total, the average woman spends £83,498 in a lifetime, research from Sure Women Linen Dry says.
The study found that 41 per cent admitted to changing outfits at least twice per day, re-applying make-up up to five times per day and one in four checking the mirror five times or more every day.
Pricey Women will spend an average of £13,989 on shoes over the years
Ten per cent admitted to buying at least one item of clothing or accessories every week in the middle of the day, just to attend an event straight from work.
And 14 per cent claimed to have hidden purchases from their partners.
While one in eight (12 per cent) confessed to keeping at least one pair of shoes at their place of work to change into for a night out.
Julie Spearman, Sure for Women Assistant Brand Manager, told The Mirror: ‘Women never seem to have enough clothes. Many feel the pressure to keep up with ever-changing fashions and this means they're always buying something new.'
Researchers found that the younger age groups are likely to spend most in their lifetimes, with the under 25s heading towards a total of £129,903.
Those over 55 have been more thrifty and are likely to have spent £63,571 in the course of their lives

Obama Honours Nigerian On US Independence Day.

A YOUNG Nigerian is among a selected few U.S. military servicemen who were sworn in yesterday as U.S. citizens by President Barack Obama as the country celebrated its Independence Day while also honouring the commitment of the immigrants to America’s national security.
He is Army Spc. Oluwatosin Akinduro. He immigrated to Houston from Lagos, Nigeria, with his parents when he was 6. He said he is the first in his family to become a U.S. citizen and that he hopes to lead by example, both in the military and in his personal life.

“My family is very proud of me today,” he said. “I’m a little nervous, speechless. This is something I’m doing for myself and my family.”

After graduating from high school, Akinduro played football for Rutgers University in New Jersey and hoped to play professionally. When that goal wasn’t realized, he said, he joined the Army and plans to make it his career.

“I have my head up, my chest out, and I’m just so proud of what I’m doing,” he said. I come from a very proud background. I don’t believe in fear too much. With my background, I always believed I could do anything I put my mind to.”

Forbes Names Tom Cruise As Highest Paid Actor In The World.

Tom Cruise

Tom Cruise is once again the highest paid actor in the world, according to Forbes magazine's annual list.
The announcement, brought forward to capitalise on the Top Gun star's imminent divorce – Forbes usually publishes its list in August – offers convincing evidence that Cruise remains Hollywood's most bankable actor at the age of 50. According to Forbes, he earned an estimated $75m (£48m) over the last 12 months, thanks largely to the $700m success of the action blockbuster Mission: Impossible – Ghost Protocol earlier this year. Cruise topped the list despite a disappointing return of just $47m so far for another film he appeared in this year, the musical Rock of Ages.
Last year's highest paid actor, Leonardo DiCaprio, came second place this time around, and has to suffer the indignity of tying with Adam Sandler. Both stars made $37m over the last 12 months, during which DiCaprio starred in the poorly received Clint Eastwood biopic J Edgar and Sandler appeared in Razzie winner Jack and Jill.
A surprise new entry at No 4 is former professional wrestler turned actor Dwayne Johnson, who made an estimated $36m over the last 12 months following turns in Fast and Furious Five and Journey 2: The Mysterious Island. The top five is rounded out by Ben Stiller, whose voice work in the animated sequel Madagascar 3: Europe's Most Wanted helped the film to return $426m worldwide last month. Stiller earned an estimated $33m in the last year.
The 2011 Forbes list was an all-American affair, but two British actors make it into the top 10 this time around. In (shared) sixth place is Sacha Baron Cohen, whose turn as a corrupt autocrat in comedy The Dictator helped him to estimated earnings of $30m in the last 12 months. Fellow Englishman Robert Pattinson crept into joint 10th spot with $26.5m, almost all of which came from his role as a sparkly skinned vampire in the Twilight Saga films.
The top 10 for 2012 also includes 2010's highest paid star, Johnny Depp, who shares sixth place with Baron Cohen on $30m, and Will Smith, also with $30m. New entrant Mark Wahlberg makes ninth, with $27m, and Taylor Lautner, who ties with co-star Pattinson in joint 10th on $26.5m.
Once again the estimated earnings secured by Hollywood's top male stars dwarfed the figures for their female counterparts over the last 12 months. Only Kristen Stewart ($34.5m) and Cameron Diaz ($34m), the top two on Forbes' list for women, would have made the men's top 10.
Forbes top 10 list
1 Tom Cruise, $75m
2 = Adam Sandler, $37m
4 Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson, $36m
5 Ben Stiller, $33m
6 = Johnny Depp, $30m
6 = Will Smith, $30m
9 Mark Wahlberg, $27m
10 = Taylor Lautner, $26.5 m
10 = Robert Pattinson, $26.5 m
