They said Ogoni Land will Take 30 years to Complete Clean Up.

The Ogoni Kingdom (also known as the Ogonis) are one of the many indigenous peoples in the region of southeast Nigeria. They number about 1.5 million people and live in a 404-square-mile (1,050 km2) homeland which they also refer to as Ogoni, or Ogoniland.

They share common oil-related environmental problems with the Ijaw people of Niger Delta. The current clean up exercised, flag off by Vice President Yemi Osinbajo, will cost N2.1 Billion. The clean-up is expected to boost socio-economic activities in the ogoniland devastated through years of oil spillage, experts have said.

In a 15-year period from 1976 to 1991 there were reportedly 2,976 oil spills of about 2.1 million barrels of oil in Ogoniland, accounting for about 40% of the total oil spills of the Royal Dutch/Shell company worldwide in one region alone. President Buhari as part of his election plan, promised to effect the clean up of the Ogoniland. So it was no surprise the Clean up event of June 2, which analysts believe is long overdue.

BREAKING NEWS: Gunmen Attack Governor Ambode’s Mother

Heavily armed gunmen on Friday evening invaded the residence of Christianah Ambode, the mother of Lagos State governor, Akinwunmi Ambode, disarming the octogenarian’s police detail in an apparent attempt to abduct her, PREMIUM TIMES sources said.

The incident occurred at 24 Oguntona Crescent, Gbagada Estate I, Lagos at approximately 7:30 p.m., neighbours said.
The police officers manning Mrs. Ambode’s home were “overpowered and dispossessed of their rifles,” sources said.

Mrs. Ambode was, however, fortunate, as a swift reinforcement by the state’s police command thwarted the ploy of the assailants, who fled the scene. The back-up team arrived at 8:10 p.m., the sources said.
Lagos State Police Command spokesperson, Dolapo Badmus, told PREMIUM TIMES she could not immediately confirm the attack.

Lamar Odom is back on hard drugs.

Lamar Odom’s family and friends are concerned the baller is back on hard drugs after finding crack pipes in his home.

via TMZ:

Odom’s history with crack is well-documented — but people close to him thought he’d been scared straight after he overdosed at a Nevada brothel back in October.

But multiple sources close to Odom — hoping to get through to the NBA star — tell us he’s been acting very strange lately. His friends are convinced he’s off the wagon, and for the last few weeks they’ve been trying to get through to him.

So, a group of people went to his home to convince him to enter rehab — but Odom scoffed … telling the group he doesn’t need any help. It sounds just like the failed intervention attempt from 2013.

During the confrontation, which took place at Odom’s home in Calabasas, we’re told his friends noticed drug paraphernalia scattered all over the place … including crack pipes, baggies and roaches.

We’re told the fear is that Odom believes he’s invincible — as evidenced by the fact he’s been hitting bars and drinking while still recovering from the damage he sufferedfrom the overdose.

We reached out to Odom for comment — so far, no word back.

Addiction is a slippery slope.
