Former Chief of Staff to governor Rotimi Amaechi and current Nigerian deputy minister of education has led a delegation of factional members of the People's Democratic Party in Rivers State to visit injured Rivers lawmaker Michael Chinda in a London hospital.
Mr. Wike is the arrowhead of the plot by President Goodluck Jonathan and his wife, Patience to destabilize Rivers State and remove the state governor.
Mr. Chinda was severely injured after a pro-Amaechi lawmaker and majority leader of Rivers State of Assembly, Chidi Lloyd severally smashed a wooden mace on his head and jaws on July 9th 2013 as a group of five lawmakers tried unsuccessfully to impeach the speaker of the house.

Prominent leaders of Rivers State from across political and professional divides on Saturday visited the member representing Obio/Akpor State Constituency 2 at the Bupa Cromwell Hospital in London, United Kingdom, where the legislator is recuperating from head and jaw surgeries carried out on him by medical experts in the health facility.
Those visited the injured lawmaker include; Minister of State for Education, Barr. Ezenwo Nyesom Wike, former deputy speaker of the House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Austin Opara, President of Nigeria Bar Association, NBA, Chief Okey Wali (SAN), Former Action Congress of Nigeria, ACN, National Treasurer, Mr Kenneth Kobani, Former Transport Minister, Dr Abiye Sekibo, Rivers State Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Chairman, Bro. Felix Obuah and a former Commissioner in Rivers State, Mr. Bonny Iyaye.
The leaders were grateful to God for the survival of Hon. Michael Chinda despite the vicious knocks he received from the mace-wielding Majority Leader of the Rivers State House of Assembly, Mr. Chidi Lloyd. They condemned the brutal physical assault suffered by Hon. Chinda, saying that such violence must not be witnessed again in the state.
It will be recalled that Hon. Micheal Chinda received life-threatening injuries on his head and jaw after the Rivers State Majority Leader, Hon. Chidi Lloyd freely attacked him with the House Mace with the assistance of security details of Governor Chibuike Amaechi of Rivers State.
Speaking after the visit to the injured lawmaker and his family, Minister of State for Education, Barr. Ezenwo Nyesom Wike called on the constituents of the lawmaker to remain calm; pointing that justice will be done in the matter.
He said: "It is very unfortunate that such injury could be inflicted on a fellow human being. I remember that the man who carried out this barbaric act claimed that some people don't have integrity. We can now see the kind of integrity he has. We are happy that the Honourable Member is alive. I want to call on his constituents and I am one of them, to remain calm. I know how Hon. Chinda is dear to them, but at the end of the day, justice will be done."I
Rt. Hon. Austin Opara, a former deputy speaker of the House of Representatives expressed happiness that the lawmaker has been stabilized health wise, but said that it was unfortunate that the Rivers State Governor is yet to see anything wrong with the injuries inflicted on the lawmaker.
Former Minister of Transport, Dr Abiye Sekibo while condemning the brutal injury inflicted on Hon. Chinda, said all well meaning Nigerians must rise to condemn such pre-meditated act of violence in the interest of the nation's political growth.
He said: "All of us must condemn what happened. It doesn't matter on which side of the political divide that we find ourselves. Governors who see this kind of barbarism and fail to condemn it, but choose to turn it to political drama will not be forgiven by history".
Rivers State PDP Chairman, Bro. Felix Obuah regretted that despite the devastating attack on a State lawmaker by the State House Majority Leader, Governor Rotimi Chibuike Amaechi is yet to ask after the welfare of the lawmaker, choosing instead to host series of solidarity visits from governors at the expense of the depleting resources of Rivers State.
Former ACN National Treasurer, Mr Kenneth Kobani said that whoever supports the acts of pre-meditated violence perpetrated against the Rivers State lawmaker needs his conscience examined.
Our common duty is to ensure that we do not support this kind of evil. It is shocking that even as we speak, those who carried out this evil act are still going about justifying the evil. That tells you the deplorable state that our state has fallen to" Kobani lamented.

Kanye West Beats Up Paparazzo.

Kanye West has a problem with managing his anger, he was caught attacking a paparazzo at the Los Angeles International Airport that was posted to TMZ . And these latest shenanigans are actually very serious: The photog wants to press felony charges. 

TMZ reports the victim did suffer injuries from Kanye's blows and the case will likely be referred to the District Attorney as felony attempted robbery, since the rapper allegedly assaulted the photographer and tried to take his camera. The case is being transferred to the Robbery Homicide Unit of the LAPD and cops are putting a file together. So far, no formal charges have been filed.

In the photos a paparazzo — apparently hip to the TMZ video in which Kanye snarls at a photographer not to talk to him or anyone who knows or ever, at all — followed after the rapper, asking him why they weren't allowed to talk to him. Just before he gets into his car, Kanye turns and starts walking towards the paparazzo, who says, "Come on, Kanye, I don't want to fight with you. Dude, seriously, I don't want to fight with you."

"I told you don't talk to me, right?" Kanye mutters, before insisting that the camera person is setting him up for extortion: "What you're trying to do is get me in trouble, so I'll... have to pay you like 250 thousand."
And then things get shaky. And it gets harder to be a Kanye West fan.
According to TMZ, the beat down was bad enough that paramedics were called to the scene to. And maybe Kanye just predicted his own fate.

Evicted Ghanian BBA Chase Housemate Selly Clears The Air On Allegations Of Transmitting STD To Nando.Vows To Sue Nando For Defamation.

She, for the umpteenth time, denied having sex. “We made out,” she said.

The aspiring actress also spoke on a variety of issues from his relationship with hiplife act Praye Tiatia to her plans for the foreseeable future. The session was put together by Multichoice Ghana and Airtel.

Seventeen Nigerian lawyers, including Mr Godwin Obla Notable EFCC lawyer,Ms. Olufunke Aboyade, an Editor at Thisday Newspapers, the Attorney General of Enugu State, Mr. Anthony Ikechukwu Ani,were on Friday appointed as Senior Advocates of Nigeria.

The Secretary of the Legal Practitioners Privileges Committee, Mr Sunday Olorundahunsi who announced the names of the new SANs said they would be inaugurated at a date to be announced later.

Other are Adele Eberechi, Olumide Sofowora, Uko Udom, Suraj Sa'Eda, Anthony Anaenugwu, Joe Abrahams, Akinlolu Timothy Kehinde, Prof Lawrence Asekome Atsegbua, Biriyai Dmabo, Chukwuma-Machukwu Ume, Olalekan Fatai Yusuf, Moyosore Jubril Onigbanjo, Aliyu Maitasamu Abdullahi and Victoria Olufunmilayo Awomolo.

Prior to their emergence, they were among the 44 senior lawyers short-listed for interview for the award.

There were shouts of joy and screams of excitement when Big Brother finally announced the long awaited merger.

After spending the last week or so speculating about a possible merger since the Emeralds appeared on the scene, the Diamonds and Rubies finally saw it come to pass. As soon as the Airtel Arena Challenge wrapped, Big Brother made one of the most dramatic announcements yet. "Rubies you have won the Airtel Challenge. However, this week, there will be no swap happening. It is with great pleasure that I announce the official merging of the Emerald House, Ruby House and the Diamond House", Biggie said.

As soon as the announcement was made, the Arena descended into chaos as the excited Housemates tried to grasp what had just been said. Sulu and Elikem even showed off dangerous looking somersaults to celebrate the big news. After pleading for calm, Big Brother addressed the Housemates again. "You will now all call the Ruby House your home." The Chasemates couldn't get out of the Arena fast enough. Everyone headed to the Diamond House where a delectable spread awaited them in the garden. Later, the Housemates will all head to the Ruby House where they will stay until the Big brother Finale.

This announcement certainly flips the game on its head. After pouring cold water over the Emeralds and what they might be bringing to the game, the former Rubies and Diamonds know that the game has only just begun. What will happen come Nomination time on Monday? Are we going to see Housemates scrambling to change their strategies? It should be really interesting to see how Housemates interact with each other, now that they will be living under one roof.

The Emeralds are in the House to carry out one simple mission given to them by Big Brother - to confuse the Chasemates into thinking they are also in the running for the USD 300 000 prize.

British Man Kidnapped After Leaving Lagos International Airport.

A British national has been kidnapped just after leaving the international terminal of Lagos airport, a consulate spokesperson said.

In a statement, the British High Commission said it was "working closely with others to secure  the release of the hostage". It added that no more detail could be provided at this stage due to the "sensitive nature" of the incident.

A Foreign and Commonwealth Office spokesperson said: "We are aware of reports of a missing person and are liaising with Nigerian authorities."

The kidnapping comes less than four months after a British man was taken hostage and then quickly released at the end of March, also in Lagos.

Back then a police spokesman told agency reporters: "Lagos has never had a reputation for kidnapping and we want that to remain as it is..

Nigerian Musician Takes The Stage In China.

The number of African musicians in China, especially in Guangzhou, is growing, creating new types of harmony between the two lands Nigerian rates his singing by the dancing of the crowds to whom he performs.The vocalists' shows in Gaungdong's provincial capital are typically a writhing mix of Chinese, compatriots and other foreigners dancing to his hip-hop and R&B songs.

Lo-d - his stage name is short for "Lord's Own Design" - takes the stage of such Guangzhou venues as Kama Club, Town Bar, Duo Club and Banker Club. He sings in English and his native Igbo."My Chinese is not very good, but I hope to sing in Chinese soon," he says.

"I also want to collaborate with Chinese artists."

Lo-d lives a double life typical of Guangzhou's African musicians, who do business by day and take the stage by night. The city ranks among the country's top commodities-trading bases, which has caused its African population to swell since the 1990s.

University of Hong Kong African studies program director and author of the 2012 book Africans in China, Adams Bodomo, says there are about 500,000 Africans in China, and Guangzhou hosts the largest population.

Africans in China include at least 300,000 traders, 30,000 students, 4,000 professionals, 10,000 tourists and 10,000 business travelers, Bodomo says.

"Wherever there are Africans, there is good music - just like wherever there are Chinese, there is good food," says Su Zheng, associate professor of music and East Asian studies at Wesleyan University in Connecticut, the United States.

List of Senators Whose Votes Helped Legalise Underage Marriage And How It Happened (Voting Sheet)

We are all aware that Adolescent pregnancy brings detrimental social and economic consequences for a girl, her family, her community and her nation.

3.Many girls who become pregnant drop out of school, drastically limiting their future opportunities. Adolescent pregnancy only fuels the intergenerational cycle of poverty and ill health 
4.They are still minors and their sexual reproductive rights should be protected

And for our Senate to legalise child marriage is sheer wickedness and heartlessness,imagine your own child suffering from VVF,how will you feel?

We now know how senators voted on the constitution amendment bill which caused an uproar in the senate on Tuesday

The section up for amendment had to do with persons qualified to renounce Nigerian citizenship. The constitution in Section 29 says anyone of age can do so. Section 29(4) (b) says that ” any woman who is married shall be deemed to be of full age.” It means that even a child if married can be seen to be of full age and as such can renounce citizenship. The committee proposed that provision be deleted.

When it was put to vote, 2/3 of members present voted for it which meant it was deleted. But, not so fast.

Enter Senator Ahmed Yerima of Zamfara, the controversial former governor of Zamfara who tried to stoke religious sentiments. He said it was against Islamic law. Yerima got married to a teenager a few years ago, and going by the provision, the girl who is still not 18 cannot be said to be of age.

He kicked and began to mobilise his fellow Muslims in the Senate and it was threatening to cause confusion. Despite the senate president, David Mark insisting that it could no longer be revisited as it had been voted upon, Yerima continued his objection.

Due to the sensitive nature, Mark had to call for another vote. At this point the Senators who were in favour of this clause could no longer muster 2/3 of the votes that will retain Section 29, Clause 4 (b). Senators still voted 60 votes to 35 votes for the clause to be deleted, but it did not satisfy the 2/3 requirement and so, according to the senate version, “any woman who is married shall be deemed to be of full age.”
