Breaking News : Adenuga sacks over 90 married women, says he does not want married women in Gloworld again.....

Married female staff of Globacomm are currently in pains after the Chairman ,Mike Adenuga laid off over  90 of them, according to a reliable source, the management laid them off because they were married and Mike Adenuga does not want married women in his company again....Read a post from one of the sacked female staff.

I received a rude shock from the company I have served deligently for 13years yesterday. I, alongside almost 90 other married women were laid off simply because we are married and Dr. Mike Adenuga does not want any married woman in Globacom (Gloworld friendship centre).
I was laid off a company I dedicated my time & energy to, working tirelessly and always dedicated to my job giving my 200%. My family & friends would always say if I had a cut, my blood will be "green". Some of you would wonder what I was doing in Globacom for 13 good years, I will give you an insight of my story.
I joined the company a vibrant 22year old, freshly out of school graduate. I have worked with dedication, total commitment and loyalty. I can convinietly say I rose through the ladder being an outstanding staff and got whatever due given to such persons. Not a single one of the several bosses I have worked with can give negative report about me. I have trained several staff on the job and can proudly say that i was a good leader as I was a follower. So yes, I was not stagnant (considering that the company has no coherent organizational structure) and had every reason to believe that hard work & dedication pays until Globacom said otherwise.
We were replaced with males (some of whom have not earned the positions) single ladies (who have neither earned nor have any knowledge about the job) and newly recruited staff who are by the way poorly paid all in a bid to get rid of us.
How can experience be thrown away because of a so called new structure? How does a marital blessing with the gift of children suddenly become a dissabilty to work? I'm not certain there is anyone that wishes for their child, sister, friend or even herself to be unmarried and not have children. This act is a discrimination against gender and human rights to work. We were laid off with absolutely nothing in form of compensation for what they have done! We were used and thrown away with only one month salary in lieu which they promised to pay yesterday but have obviously failed to as usual. It is only in Globacom that such injustice can be done & feel "they" will get away with it. Please we need justice over the matter, kindly forward to as many of your contacts until justice prevails, this cannot be swept under the carpet! Thank you.

OBASANJO LAYS WREATH ON GRAVES OF 73 HERDSMEN ATTACK VICTIMS

Former Nigerian President, Chief Olusegun Obasanjo today laid wreath on the graves of 73 victims of herdsmen attacks in Benue State.

Performing the ceremony during a condolence visit on Governor Samuel Ortom, the former President expressed shock that after the burial of 73, over 80 people had been murdered in cold blood in various parts of the state.

He said Nigeria had not gotten it right and urged leaders at various levels to come together and get to the root of the killings with a view to finding a lasting solution to the menace.

The former president commended the doggedness of Governor Ortom in finding a solution to herdsmen killings and urged him not to relent in his efforts.

He said until the real matter was investigated and permanent solution found, innocent Nigerians would continue to be buried in their numbers.

Chief Obasanjo expressed worry why the senseless killings were being carried out without commensurate actions , saying the trend was capable of discouraging foreign investments into the country.

Obasanjo who was earlier received by Governor Samuel Ortom at the Makurdi Air Port proceeded to the grave yard where 73 victims of first January attacks were buried before he departed for Lagos.

Two Men Arrested For Raping And Recording Their Female Victim In Cross River State

Two men, identified as Inyang Patrick, 22, and Ibah Edet, 23, suspected to have drugged a lady (names withheld) before having sex with her, have been arrested by Cross River State police command.

The two suspects, who were among 47 suspected criminals paraded by the state Commissioner of Police, Mr. Hafiz Inuwa, were also said to have gone further to blackmail her with recordings of the act.

The commissioner noted that the suspects were arrested after being reported to the police by the victim.

He said, “On February 23, 2018, the victim alleged that she was invited by one Inyang Akwanyene Patrick, male, 22, to Harris Guest House along Atimbo Road in Calabar.

“On arrival at the guest house, she met Inyang Akwanyene Patrick and Ibah Edet and was offered a bottle of drink suspected to have been drugged, which she took and became unconscious.

“Thereafter the duo forcefully had unlawful carnal knowledge of her and videoed all that transpired, which they later used to intimidate and demand ransom from the victim, threatening that they would make the recording viral to the public if she failed to comply.

“During interrogation, the suspects confessed to the crime. The phone used for recording her was recovered from the suspects and will be tendered as exhibit in court. Meanwhile, medical examination has been carried out by a qualified medical to know her health status.”

Inuwa stressed that the suspects would soon be charged to court to allow the law to take its course.

He said 45 other suspected criminals had been arrested in the past two months for various offences in the state, adding that several exhibits were recovered from them.

He explained that 10 of the suspects were arrested for armed robbery; six for murder; one for robbery; two for rape; seven for unlawful possession of firearms; eight for cultism; one for defilement and nine for internet fraud.

The commissioner appealed to the residents of the state and the general public to join hands with the police and other security agencies in fighting crime and ensuring peace in the state.

19 Year Old Nigerian Shot Dead By Unknown Gunmen In London..Mother Laments

A 19-year-old Nigerian, Kelvin Odunuyi, was on Thursday shot dead by unknown persons while he stood with friends at the entrance of Vue Cinemas in Wood Green, London. The victim, a rapper who performed under the name, DipDat, and was also known as Lampz, was pronounced dead two hours after he was taken to the hospital.

But speaking about the incident, which was said to have occurred at about 12:30am, the mother of the victim, Mrs. Afishetu Oniru, told EveningStandard, a United Kingdom-based news medium, that she warned him not to go see his friends but that he didn’t listen.

She told the newspaper at their family home in Harrow on Friday that she began having fears about the safety of her family since they moved to the area.

She said, “I have always lived in London but when we moved to Wood Green for a short time, I got scared for my family. We now live in Harrow and I told him not to go back to Wood Green to see friends, but he did and now he is dead after being shot dead in a random attack. Police said he was at the wrong place at a wrong time.

“He was with a big group when two boys on bicycles came along shooting – he was hit, it’s a tragedy. I am devastated.

“I knew he would be safe at home with me but he went there and now he is dead. Another mother is grieving, enough is enough. The government needs to act to stop the bloodshed. He was a lovely jovial boy. He was clever and loved by all who knew him…he had everything going for him.”

The distraught mother noted that relatives, including his father who runs a property business in Nigeria, had paid her son’s fees at the prestigious £26,000-a-year Fulneck School in Pudsey, West Yorkshire, as a boarder, and that he had ambitions to work in the oil industry.

Meanwhile, shortly after the killing, eyewitnesses said they saw two masked men leaving the area in a moped – like a motorcycle. As of the time of filing this report, police said no arrests had been made, while phone numbers were released for use by anyone who had useful information.

However, an eyewitness said, “I saw these two boys in balaclavas on a black scooter come round the corner and the one on the back opened fire as they were rolling past. I saw his body on the floor and his friends were around him. I didn’t know until later that it was Kelvin. It’s a war zone round here.”

According to the report, a police source confirmed that the killing was being treated as gang-related, but it was also gathered that the victim was not a gang member but socialised with people who were gang members.

The report also noted that the killing was thought to be a product of “postcode war” between gangs in Wood Green and nearby Tottenham.

Detective Chief Inspector, Luke Marks, said, “We believe two people made off on a moped shortly after the incident and this is one line of enquiry that we’re actively pursuing.”

How Former Minister Akinjide, Others Collected N650m – EFCC Witness

File Photo

The trial of a former Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Jumoke Akinjide, and two others continued on Friday before the Federal High Court in Lagos, with the testimony of an operative of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, who investigated the case.

The investigator, Usman Zakari, who appeared as the second prosecution witness in the case, narrated to the court how Akinjide and others allegedly took delivery of a cash sum of N650m in March 2015.

According to him, Akinjide and two others collected the N650m cash at the Dugbe branch of Fidelity Bank in Ibadan on the standing instruction of a former Minister of Petroleum Resources, Mrs. Diezani Alison-Madueke.

Zakari said his investigation revealed that the N650m was part of a total sum of N23bn which Diezani warehoused in the bank.

He said he found that the N23bn was the naira equivalent of a total of $115.01m, which Diezani allegedly collected from three oil marketers and one Lano Adesanya in the build-up to the 2015 general elections.

Zakari, who was led in evidence by the EFCC prosecutor, Rotimi Oyedepo, said his investigation followed “a top classified Category A intelligence” about a meeting convened by Diezani in her house in December 2014.

According to him, the meeting was attended by Diezani, the Managing Director of Fidelity Bank, Nnamdi Okonkwo, and some oil marketers.

Zakari said at the meeting, the former petroleum minister informed Okonkwo that the oil marketers would bring different dollar sums to him, which she instructed the bank chief to help her keep in the bank’s vault until further instructions.

The investigator said pursuant to the meeting, one Auctus Integrated Limited took $17.8m to the bank; another company, Northern Belt Oil and Gas, took $60m to the bank; while one Mid-Western Oil Services Limited also paid $9.5m.

“An individual, Lano Adesanya, brought the sum of $1.8m; our findings further revealed that the three oil marketers made payment of the sum of $89m and some fractions. Investigations further revealed that the then petroleum minister’s aides made available $25m and some fractions in suitcases, which were warehoused in Fidelity Bank’s cash vault,” the investigator narrated.

He added, “Upon the receipt of the money by Fidelity Bank, the then petroleum minister instructed Fidelity Bank to convert the said amount into naira, precisely on March 26, 2015.

“Fidelity Bank complied with the instruction; the said amount was converted into naira to the tune of N23bn and some fractions.

“After the conversion, the then petroleum minister, Mrs. Diezani Alison-Madueke, instructed Fidelity Bank to pay the 1st defendant (Akinjide) and the 2nd defendant (Senator Ayo Adeseun) and one Mr. Yinka Taiwo the sum of N650m, through her son, Ogbonna Madueke.

“The 1st defendant and the 2nd defendant and Mr. Yinka Taiwo then proceeded to Fidelity Bank, Dugbe branch in Ibadan, Oyo State and signed a receipt of payment individually for the collection of N650m.

“They signed for the money and took it to the residence of the 1st defendant (Akinjide).

“The defendants made a cash payment of N650m without going through any financial institution, an amount which was more than the amount authorised by law to be paid in cash.”

He told the court that upon being interrogated, Akinjide and Adeseun “admitted making cash payments in that amount.”

But the defence counsel, Chief Bolaji Ayorinde (SAN), Michael Lana and Akinola Oladeji, urged the court to expunge Zakari’s entire evidence for being hearsay.

They contended that the investigator could not give evidence about the meeting in Diezani’s residence and the payments of money, which he did not personally witness.

“I’m placing reliance on Section 38 of the Evidence Act, which says that hearsay evidence is not admissible,” Oladeji argued.

He added that the persons competent to testify about the meeting were Diezani, Fidelity Bank’s MD and the oil marketers who were present.

He said since it was not established that the people who attended the meeting were dead, Zakari could not testify about the meeting.

The same line of argument was pursued by Ayorinde and Lana.

But the prosecutor, Oyedepo, maintained that Zakari’s evidence was not hearsay but his personal findings in the course of his investigation.

“The evidence given by PW2 of his investigative findings cannot be hearsay.

“In view of the fact that the evidence that PW2 gave was the discovery he made in the course of his investigation, the law is settled that such evidence cannot amount to hearsay,” Oyedepo contended, urging the judge to dismiss the objection.

Justice Muslim Hassan adjourned till March 23, 2018, for further proceedings.‎

Akinjide and her co-defendants are facing 24 charges bordering on conspiracy and money laundering.

They were arraigned on January 16, 2018, by the EFCC which accused them of collecting N650m from a former Minister of Petroleum Resources, Mrs Diezani Alison-Madueke, in the build-up to the 2015 general elections.

The EFCC claimed that they ought to have “reasonably known that the money formed part of proceeds of an unlawful act,” adding that they handled it without going through a financial institution in violation of the Money Laundering (Prohibition) Act – but they all pleaded not guilty.

A move to explore a plea bargain agreement with the EFCC fell through earlier.

Where students asked to pay N15,000 for "Adeboye handshake?"

The General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), Pastor Enoch Adeboye, is at the centre of an alarming allegation that secondary school students are being charged N15,000 each to have a ‘holy hand-shake’ with him.

Writing on Facebook, Temitope Aduroja recounted the dilemma of a struggling family in Minna, Niger State and the friction that emerged over the alleged payment necessary to meet ‘Daddy GO’.

“The students of Redeemer Secondary School in Minna were told to pay N15,000 each to be able to see Pastor Adeboye and receive his handshake,” Aduroja wrote, explaining that the respected Pastor is due to be at an event in Abuja on Sunday 11th March 2018.

Clearly disgruntled, the ‘whistle-blower’ added that this information came from a work colleague who had three children in that particular school and was unwilling to pay such a fee.

“His wife remained adamant that he must pay the money because his children must see Pastor Adeboye for the first time in their lives and receive his handshake and blessings,” Aduroja continued.

It took the combined effort of a local Redeemed Pastor and his grandmother to finally bring settlement to the heated squabble which almost resulted in “physical combat”.

“After serious pleading and begging from the pastor and family members, the husband agreed to pay for a child, the wife for the second child while the grandmother agreed to pay for the third child,” he explained.

Aduroja proceeded to ponder on the ‘craziness’ exhibited by Nigerian woman “in the name of religion”, as well as express scepticism on the actual impact of this “handshake excursion”.

“Must we continue to waste money on something that doesn't mean much in the name of religion or a pastor,” he whimsically concluded.

The post drew heated response, many rising to Adeboye’s defence and stating the school was simply taking students on “an excursion” and such amount was to cater for the journey’s costs. Others, however, corroborated the allegation.

Oyeyemi Ganiat wrote, “That's how they always do. My children are attending Redeemer School here in Agege, Lagos. They will tell you Baba Adeboye is doing his birthday every March and that all children must pay N5,000 to be able to go and celebrate.”

Akintayo Taiwo went deeper to suggest such behaviour stemmed from the unhealthy “quest for position and power” within the Redeemed Church.

“In RCCG, promotion from Parish pastor to Area Pastor to Zonal Pastor to Provincial Pastor depends on your weekly remittance to the church Headquarters in Lagos. The more tithes and offerings - and other godly and ungodly charges you are able to remit to the Church - the faster your promotion,” he alleged.

“We may say that Baba Adeboye doesn't know about this but he is definitely culpable because he accepts the money coming from all these Parishes without questioning the source,” Taiwo opined.

“No matter how fast church growth is in Nigeria, as long as the Church makes money the centre of the gospel, morality will continue to decrease among believers,” the commentator brazenly ended.

RCCG has yet to make any official statement on the matter.

Stop embarrassing Nigeria with your ‘dance’ – Group slams Senator Adeleke

A social political group, Movement for New Nigeria has slammed the Senator representing Osun West Senatorial District, Senator Ademola Adeleke over incessant display of dancing skill wherever he goes.
The group made the assertion in a press statement signed by its National Coordinator, Comrade Sunday Kelani.

The statement noted that the senator has taken it as a tradition to dance at any event he attends instead of contributing meaningfully to National issues as a lawmaker of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

It chided him for, “taking the dignity of legislature for granted” adding that he is no more a private person, but a public office holder of high echelon in Nigeria.

“The routine dance of the Senator representing Osun West senatorial district is becoming a big embarrassment for people of his constituency and Nigerians as a whole.

“Instead of making appreciable contribution constructively to nation-building, Senator Adekeke is busy dancing across the country rather unabatedly.
“The place of legislature in a democracy is too important and serious for any of its member to resort to a mere entertainer and official dancer.

“This attitude of the lawmaker is highly unbecoming of a man with that political stature, this must stop as a matter of importance and exigency.

“There is a limit to how a politician could go to impress the people outside the specified statutory obligation through performance; the earlier the senator knows that his dancing step is no more catching the fancy of anyone the better for him, ” the statement said.

Ekweremadu to face trial over ‘hidden assets’ in UAE, UK, US

Ike Ekweremadu, deputy senate president, will be charged before the Code of Conduct Tribunal (CCT) next week by the office of the attorney-general of the federation (AGF).

TheCable reports that he will be arraigned for “false declaration of assets” — the same charge slammed against Senate President Bukola Saraki whose case was adjourned indefinitely on Thursday by the tribunal.

Ekweremadu is accused of having assets in United Arab Emirates, United Kingdom and United States of America which he allegedly did not disclose in his declarations to the Code of Conduct Bureau (CCB).

Meanwhile, officials of the ministry of justice and the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) are expected to leave for the UAE on Monday to seek the forfeiture of eight properties allegedly linked to Ekweremadu, TheCable understands.

The forfeiture is being pursued under a bilateral agreement reached between the two countries after President Muhammadu Buhari assumed office in 2015.

Sahara Reporters, the whistle-blowing website, had reported that Nigeria requested for information on Ekweremadu’s assets relying on the Automatic Exchange of Information (AEoI), a multi-jurisdictional instrument for exposing hidden assets and incomes.

Nigeria is a signatory to AEoI.

According to the website, two “undeclared” properties were also traced to Ekweremadu in the UK and three in the US — bringing to a total of 13.

Ekweremadu, a senator elected on the platform of PDP since 2003, caused an upset in 2015 when he was elected deputy senate president in an APC-dominated chamber.

Saraki, although a member of APC, was elected senate president against the wishes of the party hierarchy.

If found guilty, both men could lose their positions and could also be banned from holding public office for up to 10 years.

Journalists, bloggers and critics will be thrown into prison if hate speech bill is passed - Shehu Sani

Senator Shehu Sani, representing Kaduna Central Senatorial District in the National Assembly has said Nigerian prisons will be filled with bloggers, critics and perceived political opponents if the hate speech bill is passed.

Sani said the law against hate speech will be used against free speech.

According to him, Nigeria being a democratic state must, ”balance its security exigencies with its constitutional obligations and moral duty to uphold the rule of law and respect fundamental rights of its citizens.”

The lawmaker, however, maintained that, anyone who does not want to be criticized should not occupy a public office.

Sani on Facebook wrote, ”Most people in power are intolerant to criticism and allergic to dissent to be trusted with a capital punishment for hate speech. The law against hate speech will be used against free speech.

”Many critics and social media enthusiasts will end up in the gallows. Our condemned cells in the prisons will be filled with bloggers, critics and perceived political opponents. We must fight Hate speech,Hate speech is a real threat to peace, unity and order of a nation but we must protect free speech.Free speech is the shield of the oppressed.

”When you have state police and you have capital punishment for hate speech, you will have tyranny and terror as a state policy. People in power should think twice about what they do with power as someday they will be out of power.

”If you are in public office and you don’t want to be criticized or challenged, please dismount and go back to your family where you can be an imperial emperor.”
