When Charity Meets Celebrity.
Celebrities are raking in the millions, but that doesn't mean they keep it all for themselves. From the runway to the soccer pitch, stars continue to showcase their worth and give more of their time to worthy causes. With their worldwide appeal, these famous faces are great ambassadors for the less fortunate and we're taking a look at a handful of these philanthropists. Candice Swanepoel The South African beauty heats up the runway with her smoking good looks that have landed her a spot among the world's top-earning models. But what people may not know is that the annual Victoria's Secret Fashion Show, which Candice appears in, raises money for American and international non-profits organizations. The 2012 Victoria's Secret Fashion Show raised $1.1 million for worthy causes. Candice often attends fundraisers and joins her fellow Angels to raise funds to fight cancer. Didier Drogba The former Chelsea striker created the Didier Drogba Foundation in 2007. With his foundation, Didier aims to provide health and educational support to African people. The earnings from all his commercial endorsements with Pepsi, Nike and Samsung are donated to his foundation. Didier is also busy planning the building of a hospital in his Ivory Coast hometown. Kristen Stewart The Twilight star is renowned for her role in the vampire franchise but not many fans are aware of her philanthropic efforts. The actress works with Shoe Revolt to raise money and awareness to the plight of sex trafficking. Stewart also donated her Zuhair Murad dress worn at the Los Angeles premiere of The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn Part 2 to charity. The dress was auctioned by the Robin Hood Foundation that benefits those affected by Hurricane Sandy. Ian Somerhalder He may play the cold-hearted Damon Salvatore in The Vampire Diaries (Saturdays at 22:30 on M-Net Series). But off-screen Ian is passionate about his humanitarian work and launched his own foundation, called IS Foundation, in 2010. The group raises global awareness about the environment and the repercussions of global warming and environmental disasters. Holly Branson The daughter of the famous entrepreneur Sir Richard Branson shares her father's passion for charity. Holly is the celebrity ambassador of the campaign Free The Children. For their latest initiative Adopt a Village, Holly travelled to India and adopted the Udawad village in Udiapur. Her organistaion focuses on educating and empowering the people through sustainable means. Jim Iyke Controversial Nigerian actor Jim Iyke dropped his bad boy tag for the more humanitarian label when he took part in the Make a Change campaign recently. The campaign, which aims to improve health care, education, relieve famine and provide development opportunities for African youth, saw the actor tour East Africa in a series of humanitarian and entertainment functions. Iyke also visited young school children in various impoverished communities in Kenya and, as if that wasn't enough, his tour also took him to Uganda's capital Kampala where he ran a marathon for charity. Nonini Alarmed by the silent suffering of the albino community in Kenya, larger-than-life rapper Nonini's passion was irrevocably piqued. Having started the Colour Kwa Face Campaign, the star hopes to bring the plight of the often shamed and persecuted community to the attention of the world. Among other things, the campaign seeks to provide sunscreen to help children with albinism counter the harmful effects of the sun's ultra-violet rays. Mercy Johnson Advicing Young Ladies On Morality And Decency. Ottio ! ! !.
Read this first, “some ladies have lost their thinking caps. Some found it but unable to use it. Must you clock 35 before you stop partying here and there? You already know all eateries/ hotels in town! You even know the tastes of their various ice-creams, pepper-soups, shawamas, etc. And you can tell the prices of their beers and wines offhand. Funny, you're singing “No man is responsible.” Mercy was quoted to have asked rhetorically.
Amazingly, the mother of one, before now, was involved in so many relationships, many of these were reported, though, no one, then, could really pin her to a particular date, however, it's an open secret that, the mother of one who is 'happily married' to Prince has now turned a counseling directress.
“Which responsible man drinks to stupour and clubs every weekend? Which responsible man samples you and your slutty friends randomly? Which responsible man sags with dog's chains on his neck and tattoos on his body? Ask yourself; “Is the guy I'm currently dating my dream man?” Mercy was said to have also stated.
This is the letter to all her female friends and fans;
Dear sisters,
If you are living your life as above, my dear, you are living a life of mirage. Be real! Humble yourself and so you will be raised.
The so called "responsible men" you are searching for are not in the clubs and hotels, you won't find them at the weekly birthday 'bashes', weekend beach crashing or pool-side jamborees loitering around women of easy virtues, drunkards and men of questionable characters.
Use that brain Sweet Sisters! It's for thinking. - Mercy Johnson.
