Rivers Attorney-General, Emmanuel Aguma, dies

Rivers Attorney-General, Emmanuel Aguma, dies

The Rivers Government has announced the death of the the state Attorney-General and Commissioner for Justice, Mr Emmanuel Aguma, SAN.

Aguma died on Friday in a London hospital.

Mr Emma Okah, the State Commissioner for Information and Communications, announced Aguma’s death in Port Harcourt on Saturday.

He said said that it was with pains, but with gratitude to the Almighty God that the Rivers Government announced the death.

“Until his death, Emmanuel Aguma, SAN served the state with amazing sense of reponsibility, commitment, passion, competence and courage.

“At all times, even in his sick bed, his exemplary zeal to serve Rivers never waned.”

Okah said the state Gov., Mr Nyesom Wike, had approved that flags should fly at half-mast for two days beginning from Saturday as a mark of honour to mourn the departed legend.

“Needless to say that Rivers and indeed the nation will miss his versatility and invaluable contributions to the development of our state and Nigeria.

“This loss is monumental, but we urge all people of goodwill to remember his family in Port Harcourt and the state in prayers,” he said.

Woman sleeps with son to have a child for her husband in Benue State

A woman identified as Veronica, who got married to Mr. James Hon (now late) from Gwer West Local Government Area of Benue state at the age of 19, has been accused of sleeping with her son which the marriage produced.

The lady is said to have gotten remarried, after she got into a love relationship with Sebastian Iorshe, a Tiv man from the area who lost his wife  after two months of marriage in 1988. The marriage however ran into a big storm, when it repeatedly failed to produce a child or children to cement the relationship. Matters were not helped much with Veronica’s movement into the second marriage with her only son, Simon, now 26-years-old. Sebastian’s mother who was not happy over the couple’s inability to produce children, was said to regularly accuse Veronica of using her son’s wealth to train up her own son.

Amidst the accusations and counter-accusations created by this development, Sun reported that the couple neglected to go for a medical check up to ascertain the source of the problem. Veronica blamed her husband, addding that while she was willing, her husband was not. She said she suspects that her husband, said to be suffering from low sperm count, had, all along, known that he is unable to father a child.

Veronica who decided to test her own virility or potency by luring her son into secret lovemaking (with a stem warning not to reveal the affair to anybody). Investigation by Saturday Sun reveals that the serial lovemaking session lasted throughout the month of March and April 2018. Each time Veronica came down to Lafia with her son to deliver dry meat to restaurants around the area, she would rent a hotel room where she would, time and again, lure her son into performing sexual acts with her. Her reason for doing so she said, was to ascertain whether the fault was from her or not. At the end of April the result came out when she missed her period, signaling that she was pregnant.

But when she broke to her husband, what ordinarily would have been good news, he denied being responsible for it and suspected foul play. Stating February 1, 2018 as the last time they had sex together, he wondered how that would have resulted in pregnancy two months after. He added that if she missed her period at the end of April, then he is not responsible for it. This development led to suspicion that created a big crisis in the family. On 2nd August 2018, both of them submitted themselves to a medical test in Lafia based on the advice of a close relation. The result showed that Veronica is three months pregnant and confirmed the fact her last lovemaking with her husband February 1, couldn’t have led to that.

Another test conducted on her husband showed that he had weak and low sperm count that would make it impossible to father a child. The moment these details were released by the hospital, the angry husband, accusing her of infidelity, asked his wife to pack out of his house to go and live with the man responsible for her pregnancy.

Opening up on her own side of the story, the lady told Sun’s correspondent;

“I am not a loose woman,” she said. “I am just a woman who loves her husband very much and didn’t want to lose him. I did what I did to save my marriage even though I feel guilty about it. It was not easy but I slept with my first son from my first husband so that I could give my husband a child. But rather sustaining my marriage, the plan has scattered it and I have lost it.

“I got married to my husband eight years ago. We had no child. The worst was that I never got pregnant even for one day. When I discovered that I was no longer getting younger, I was worried as much as he and his parents were. His mother became so impatient that she started breathing down my neck as she gave me no breathing space at all. She said that I was cheating on her son, using his son’s money to maintain my son, that I’m older than his son.

“She moved in to live with us and practically made life in my matrimonial home unbearable for me. At a point, she stopped talking to me. The only time she would talk to me was when she wanted to insult me and remind me of how less a woman I was. I was confused, more so when my husband refused to submit himself to a medical test to ascertain the source of the problem, though we loved each other before the heavy pressure from his mum came. We used to have serious lovemaking sessions especially during my ovulation period all in the bid to get pregnant so that my mother-in-law could stop humiliating me. Yet, I couldn’t get pregnant. I started suspecting the problem could be from my husband when he refused to subject himself to medical test. But the insult from my mother-in-law was getting too much, too unbearable for me. She vowed to frustrate me out of her son’s home. To make things worse, she sent away my son saying that he has no business staying in the house. I had to look for a one-room apartment for him in Lafia.

“After he left, it was just three of us in the house in Awe, which is a distance away from Lafia. I was always terrified each time I heard her voice from a distance. She tried to frustrate my meat market in Awe. In fact, the only time that I had peace was when I went to the market. It is so agonizing to say this. Instead of testing someone else to ascertain my fertility, I seduced and slept with my son. Simon is a young man in his early 20s; he has not started sleeping with women before I lured him into making love with me.

“I started by buying good things for him, sleeping together on the same bed, playing with his manhood and gradually one thing led to another. There was a time I asked him if he had tested sex before and he said no. I compelled him to take an oath not to disclose it to anybody. I said I would teach him sex. I ensured that I did that during my ovulation period. I never disclosed the reason for this but deep in my mind, I wanted to test my fertility. I planned it during my ovulation so that I could get pregnant, although it was not easy sleeping with a son. I knew I was doing the wrong thing and betraying my husband but I saw it as a necessary action to save my marriage. I didn’t want to go out sleeping with another man outside. I knew it was wrong but I prefer it from my son than a man outside. After one month, I discovered that I was pregnant.”

The lady who asked her son to relocate to Benue State due to unforeseen circumstances, disclosed that she would do nothing else but piece together the pieces of her broken life and move on. When asked what she will do with her pregnancy, the lady who admitted she regrets her action, said she had decided to keep it because “it is blood within my blood.”

On his own part, Sebastian who vowed never to forgive his wife, said;

“I don’t want to believe the story she is narrating to you that her son is responsible for it, though I have not suspected her or seen any sign that an outsider was dating her,” he said. “But the truth is that I’m not responsible for the pregnancy and will not allow her into my house. It is a shame for me to be associated with a mess like this. Please, I don’t want to talk about it anymore; she is no longer my wife.”

National Assembly Invasion: Group offers $10,000 bounty on principal actors

A civil rights organisation, Egalitarian Mission for Africa, has offered $10,000 (about N3.5m) bounty for credible information on the identity of the principal actors behind the recent siege to the National Assembly.

The EMA also charged the Federal Government to ensure that all those found culpable in the siege were “investigated and tried for treason.”

The Chairman, Board of Trustees of EMA and legal practitioner, Dr. Kayode Ajulo, in a statement obtained on Friday in Jos, also demanded an independent probe into the issue.

Ajulo, who is a former National Secretary of the Labour Party, stressed that the inquiry was important in the face of the attempt to abrogate democracy in Benue, Ondo and Ekiti states by the police without any reprimand from those who should do so.

He said the membership of the probe should be drawn from civil society organisations, Nigerian Bar Association, the media and government representatives “to unearth those that facilitated the blockade, those who held meetings with the erstwhile boss of the DSS (Lawal Daura) and to what end.”

He said, “First, while it is worth the while to commend Acting President Yemi Osinbajo for the prompt response in arresting the apparent drift to anarchy, it is germane to stress that it is not enough to celebrate the sacking of Lawal Daura as the Director General of the DSS.

“Rather, the unfortunate incident not only calls for sober reflection but vigilance as well as the interrogation of the fundamentals of what led to the national embarrassment and desecration of the symbol of our democracy.

“Confident that there are answers to the many questions which are yet to be answered by the ‘express’ sack of Daura by the Federal Government, I am offering N3.5m for credible information in this regard.

Bauchi bye-election: We’ll amend Constitution to make Buhari life President, says APC candidate

The candidate of the All Progressives Congress in Saturday’s Bauchi South Senatorial District bye-election, Lawal-Yahaya  Gumau, says if elected into the Senate, he will work towards the amendment of the Constitution to make President Muhammadu Buhari president for life.

Gumau, who is currently the member representing Toro Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives and in his eighth year, said his only mandate for aspiring to go to the Senate is to protect Buhari’s interest.

He spoke at the closing of his campaign in Bauchi on Thursday.

He said, “I, Lawal-Yahaya Gumau, want you to know that the mandate that will be given to me on Saturday is to go and protect Buhari’s interest in the Senate. This is the only mandate that I will be going to the Senate with, having fulfilled every other mandate to the best of my ability while in the House of Representatives for eight years.

“By God’s grace, we will amend Nigeria’s Constitution to allow Buhari to be President for the remaining years of his life. He will only cease to be President when God takes his life.

“Obasanjo tried all his best for the constitution to be amended to allow him go for a third term, but God didn’t approve of it because of its lack of sincerity. What is now needed in Nigeria is to protect Buhari’s interest and that is what we will do.”

Also speaking, the Chairman of the Nigeria Governors’ Forum and Governor of Zamfara State, Abdul’aziz Yari, who led three other governors to the campaign, said they were in the state on the mandate of the Acting President, Prof. Yemi Osinbajo, noting that it would be shameful for a candidate endorsed by Buhari to lose the election.

Apart from the host governor, Mohammed Abubabakar, the governors in the delegation were those of Plateau, Simon Lalong; Kebbi, Atiku Bagudu; and Jigawa, Badaru Abubabakar.

Yari said, “Our message is simple; the acting President is seriously worried about what is going on in Bauchi State and he told us to tell you that with all the love being shown to Bauchi State by the President, it will be a shameful and disgraceful thing for us in the north for President Buhari to raise the hand of someone and the person loses that election.”

Corps members who drowned in Taraba river, conveyed for burial (Photos)

Corps members who drowned in River Salihu Dogo at Mayo Selbe in Gashaka Local Government Area of Taraba State during a picnic last Sunday, have been conveyed to their various states for burial.

The nine corps members were paid their last respect by their colleagues who converged at the Specialist Hospital, Jalingo. Corps member, Ezebuihe Charles who shared photos of the sad moment, wrote;

“We came to taraba state together with the intention of going together but death took nine of you away from us. They obeyed the call to serve their fathers land not knowing that death was also calling. The news your drowning brought great shock to us. Death you have done your worst to us. Their families bid them fare well to serve their fathers land, now they are being brought home in lifeless state. To their families, may God grant you the grace to bear the lost and to our falling hero’s, may your souls find peace with God.”

The Police Public Relations Officer, Taraba State Police Command, ASP David Missal, who confirmed the death of nine out of the 22 corps members who were swimming in the said river, told newsmen;

“Information at our disposal revealed that 22 youth corps members currently serving in the state were on a picnic in the River Mayo-Selbe, in the Gashaka LGA on Saturday when the incident happened.

“We were made to understand that while they were swimming in the river, there was a sudden upsurge in the volume of water which swept them away.

“Nine of them drowned while others managed to escape.”

The State NYSC Coordinator, Mrs Florence Yaakugh, also confirmed the incident while describing it as most unfortunate. Yaakugh said seven bodies were recovered on Sunday, while the search for the other two bodies initiated by the the locals in collaboration with security agencies and the NYSC also yielded fruits.

Petroleum sector, economy threatened by corruption – Osinbajo

 Yemi Osinbajo, SAN

THE Acting President of Nigeria, Prof. Yemi Osinbajo, yesterday, attributed the woes in the petroleum sector, and entire economy to corruption, insisting that it was ready to take the fight against corruption further in ensuring a safe business environment for investors. This came as he expressed confidence in the private sector led economy which he said is the key driver of any economy.

He made this known at a visit to the Total’s Egina Floating Production Storage Offloading (FPSO) in LADOL Free Zone, Lagos.  According to him, “For us, it is not just about creating the right business environment but creating the right attitude. Part of the challenge of this is corruption and the graft that attends all of these kinds of activity.

“So far, the fight against corruption in Nigeria has been to check grand corruption, namely, just going to the treasury, taking the money and sharing them. We have been able to stop that because you will not find the president signing off or asking the Central Bank of Nigeria, CBN, to move out large sums of money.  “Every Nigerian knows that President Buhari will not do such a thing, and because we have been able to stop that corruption, we are investing, despite earning 60 percent less revenue, almost five times more than the previous government on infrastructure.

“We have not even got to a point where we will be looking at public service and people doing all sorts of things, that is next phase and that phase is important. This country can only work if we are able to deal with corruption. When people put their financial interest over what will benefit the entire nation, we are never going to be able to make progress. A project like this is able to be held up just because somebody is not granting approval.”

Still on Daura’s ouster and Conspiracy Theories

Daura

By Richard Akinnola

I feel thoroughly embarrassed that those who should know, by virtue of their intelligence, could fall for this jejune and puerile conjectures that the sacked DSS boss, Lawal Daura was working for Saraki for him to have sent his operatives to storm the National Assembly yesterday.

For all l care, Saraki could be removed, it’s none of my business. But this line of thought is so cheap, because l am familiar with the source of this spin. Instead of latching on the commendable step taken by the presidency in not only condemning the siege but also removing Daura, they started this infantile spins.

And to think that the same people who were justifying the siege at the early hours of the operation, are now the same people spinning this funny story is unfortunate.

If you are familiar with the Saraki-must go-plot, you won’t be surprised that APC Senators were not around during the siege. From my own investigation, the plot was to prevent the PDP guys from entering and after they would have left, the APC Senators would get in and perfect the plan.

But unfortunately, the PDP guys, who must have gotten wind of the plans refused to leave. Don’t also forget that in political intrigues, people send moles to the opposing camps. Some of those who were in the anti-Saraki meeting   that midnight where the plans were being perfected, could also be Saraki moles.

The same thing happened on June 3, 2015 when Saraki emerged as Senate president. The bulk of APC Senators were at the International Conference Centre for a meeting on the issue of who would be chosen as Senate president, when Saraki and his supporters outsmarted them by sleeping at the National Assembly premises, then moved to the Chambers to elect him as Senate president, which became the genesis of this current crisis.

When Daura became the stumbling block to the confirmation of Magu as EFCC   Chairman, even after the president had cleared Magu, was that a Saraki/Daura conspiracy?

When Daura shielded pension suspect, Abdulraheed Maina, was he also working for Saraki? When the DSS operatives on October 6, 2016 broke into judges quarters in a dawn operation (in what ordinarily should have been an EFCC operation which could have been done more professionally) and in the process mismanaged vital evidence, was it a Daura/Saraki   conspiracy?

When he wrongly advised the government not to release Dasuki and Elzakzaky despite court orders, was that also a Daura/Saraki conspiracy?

It’s just unfortunate that those spinning this cheap stuff are ascribing a larger-than-life image to Saraki. They are making him the most unlikely hero, the way Nnamdi Kanu’s situation was similarly mismanaged and elevated the guy into a hero.

So, people should stop insulting our sensibilities with such cheap conspiracy theories. Rather, we should praise the acting president/president for acting rightly in a situation that brought our country into international opprobrium.

EFCC

In 2008, l published a book – THE POLITICS OF CORRUPTION AND THE CORRUPTION OF POLITICS, which dealt with how Nuhu Ribadu politicised the anti-corruption war in the run-up to the 2007 elections. Unfortunately, Magu is toeing same line as we approach another election. Perception, in most cases, is stronger than reality. The EFCC did not freeze Benue state government account till Governor Ortom defected to the opposition party. Now that Akpabio has defected to another party, the EFCC is now freezing the account of Akwa Ibom State government.   How is the agency going to defend itself that it was not out on political vendetta even if there are legitimate grounds to take such action? Perception is everything.

Remembering Rafindadi

On October 8, 2016, l cautioned the sacked Director of DSS, Daura that if he was not careful, he would eventually be given the Rafindadi treatment, because he was trudging the path of Rafindadi.   Ambassador Rafindadi was the Director of NSO   (precursor of DSS) when Buhari was the Head of State in 1984/1985, when there were series of human rights abuses. When IBB took over, Rafindadi was not only sacked but was paraded before the press like a common criminal. I have always cautioned those holding top government offices who get inebriated   with power, that there is always a tomorrow.

Major Hamza Al Mustapha was the most powerful person in Abacha junta. Even Generals genuflected   before him. He would never have imagined that he would one day enter the black Maria, talk less be in prison for 14 years. Same with the almighty Lt-General Ishaya Bamaiyi, a former Chief of Army Staff.   The cheer leaders who validate your flagrant abuse of power would not be there when you face the music. All those validating the illegal actions of Daura   are today in their homes but Daura is “somewhere.” If you don’t learn from history, you become part of history and we are here to chronicle   you misdeeds.

“Osinbajo Exemplifies Loyalty, Trustworthiness” – Emir Of Daura

The Emir of Daura, Kastina State, Umar Faruk, has described Acting President Yemi Osinbajo as a typical example of loyalty and trustworthiness in politics.

A statement by Laolu Akande, Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media and Publicity, Office of the Vice-President, said Mr Faruk made the remark when Mr Osinbajo paid him a courtesy visit in his palace on Thursday.

The statement was made available in Abuja on Friday. The emir expressed appreciation to the acting president for being supportive of President Muhammadu Buhari, a son of the emirate.

“I can assure you that all us here, myself and my subjects; we are fully and solidly behind you and in support of you. We are happy with you and we are particularly proud of the way you have supported our son, Buhari, in leading our country Nigeria to prosperity.

That explains why when you talk about loyalty and trustworthiness among the political class; you stand as an example worthy of note.

I wish that you carry on with this level of trustworthiness and continue to uphold the confidence that our son has in you.

I can assure you that our son has enormous trust in you, I want you to continue to justify that confidence he reposed in you,“ he said.

The emir said that the nation had never had such a government where the president and his vice operated under such high level of mutual respect and understanding.

He said that from the onset, the government had demonstrated integrity, adding that Buhari and Osinbajo were men of honour.

The traditional ruler thanked the Governor of Kastina State, Aminu Masari, for his developmental strides and pledged support for his administration.

''I ordered invasion of NASS based on intelligence report that unauthorized persons were planning to smuggle weapons into the complex''.-Daura speaks on invasion

The sacked Director General of the Department of State Security Service, Lawal Musa Daura, has now revealed why he deployed hooded operatives of the secret service to the National Assembly on Tuesday.

The ex-DSS boss said he acted based on intelligence report that unauthorised persons were planning to smuggle dangerous weapons and incriminating items into the complex.

Daura’s confession was contained in the interim investigation report submitted by the Inspector General of Police, IGP Idris to the Acting President, Yemi Osinbajo. IGP Idris argued in the report that Daura carried out the siege on the National Assembly without the approval of the acting president.

“The former Director-General, Department of State Security Service, Mr Lawal Musa Daura acted unilaterally without informing the presidency. He did not share or intimate other security agencies on the unlawful operations,” Idris was quoted to have said in the report obtained by Daily Trust.

The police boss also said the purported intelligence report by Daura cannot be substantiated as the personnel deployed were not EOD (Explosive Ordnance Disposal) experts or specialist in this regard.

DAILY POST reported last Tuesday that armed DSS officials stormed the National Assembly as early as 6:am and blocked the entrance and exit points.

The Acting President, hours later, dismissed the DSS boss.

Adams Oshiomhole is behaving like a rain-beaten chicken, crying all over the place about Dr. Abubakar Bukola Saraki- Response to APC Chairman

Sequel to the last post HERE where Adams informed Sen Saraki that APC members will sack him,the Saraki media group has just sent in their response.

Press Release
August 10, 2018

Response to Adams Oshiomhole

1. It is rather surprising that Mr. Adams Oshiomhole is behaving like a rain-beaten chicken, crying all over the place about Dr. Abubakar Bukola Saraki, as if the Senate President is the apparition haunting his life and the sinking ship that he captains.

2. Having decided not to join the pigs in rolling in the dirt; we would not like to be involved in any meaningless exchange with the demagogue now in charge of APC. However, because he claimed that he was reacting to the issues raised by the Senate President during his World Press Conference, we thought it necessary to give the APC chairman some attention.

Alas, we found that instead of addressing any issue raised by the Senate President, his press conference merely showcased his obsession and those of his sponsors with Saraki's removal, which he did without any decorum befitting of his age or his awarded office. He brimmed with hate, hurled abuses, threw tantrums, told lies, huffed, puffed. In the end, he said nothing.

3. It is indeed amazing that the same Oshiomhole, who is now describing Saraki as a politician of no consequence was the same one who only a few months ago was crawling all over the place pleading for Saraki's support to become chairman. We are sure that those who took him to Saraki several times to plead his case must now be thoroughly embarrassed by his reckless and uncouth manner.

4. By his conduct and utterances, Oshiomhole, who accused Saraki of not acting in national interest needs to do more to convince Nigerians that his desperate desire to become party chairman is not simply to feed his over-sized ego.

5. The position of Oshiomhole and his cohorts in the APC that the Senate President must resign is a mere wishful thinking. They will continue to dream about their planned removal of the Senate President. They will need 73 Senators to lawfully remove Dr. Saraki and they will never get that in the present eight Senate.

6. The argument of APC that the Senate President must come from a majority party; that the Senate Presidency is their crown and National Assembly is their palace is only supported by ignorance and dangerous delusion. First, the issue of which party is in the majority will only be resolved when the Senate resume. Two, Section 50 (1) (a) of the constitution is clear that any Senator can be elected as Senate President. If the only thing left of the APC change agenda is to change the Senate President we can only wish them goodluck.

7. Perhaps, Mr. Oshiomhole needs to be better educated about our parliamentary history when he Stated that "For the first time in parliamentary history in Nigeria, we had a situation where the APC had majority of Senators and went on to elect a PDP as Deputy Senate President". Where is Mr. Oshiomhole when Senator John Wash Pam of the Nigerian People's Party (NPP) became Deputy Senate President in the Second Republic even when the National Party of Nigeria (NPN) had the majority. The same thing happened in the House of Representatives when NPP's Rt. Hon. Edwin Umeh Ezeoke was elected Speaker in an NPN majority House. But then, it would require a level of education to understand these things.

8. What hypocrisy! To think that this same APC were jubilating when Rt. Hon. Aminu Tambuwal retained his position after he defected from the PDP and still retained his seat, even when his new party was in the minority. These are people whose standards of morality are infinitely elastic.

9. We are sure the remaining APC Senators need to do a lot of work to bring Oshiomhole up to speed about parliamentary practice. His ignorance are too clear in his comments about how the Senate was adjourned on July 24, 2018, the distribution of committee chairmanship in the Senate and the difference between the post of Senate President and Minority Leader.

10. He has made so much song and dance about Mr. Godswill Akpabio resigning as Senate Minority Leader when he left the PDP to join APC. For this, Akpabio has become his hero and a symbol of honour. He obviously does not understand that the post of Minority Leader is a strictly party affair. And the PDP simply decided who to give it as it is not even a position that was mentioned in the constitution. Whereas, the Senate President position is a constitutional creation, which required majority votes of all the members. Again, we don't expect people whose only experience in politics is at the provincial levels to understand this. No wonder they are talking of crowns and inheritance.

11. The fair distribution of the Committee chairmanship is one of the stabilizing factors in the 8th Senate and has helped it in achieving more than all its predecessors.

12. We need to inform this divisive element who now leads APC that if he wants to know why the 2018 budget was delayed, he should ask the heads of the MDAs. We reckon that should be easy for him since he is now their 'headmaster', moving around with canes to whip ministers into line.

13. Oshiomhole once again demonstrated his lack of sense of history by talking of Buhari winning more votes in Kwara than Saraki. We are sure President Buhari himself will disagree with the APC chairman. We invite the APC chairman to look at the figures of votes secured by the President in 2003, 2007, 2011 and 2015 to know that the difference is clear, like a commercial advert stated.

14. We hereby assure this garrulous, tactless and reckless APC chairman that a million of Adams Oshiomhole cannot remove Saraki as Senate President. His illegal plots, can only feed his insatiable ego and keep him awake at nights. But it will remain an exercise in futility.

Oshiomhole to Saraki: Your time is over, APC senators will sack you

National Chairman of All Progressives Congress (APC), Mr Adams Oshiomhole, said Senator Bukola Saraki’s era as Senate President is over as he must be impeached by majority senators from the All Progressives Congress, in accordance with the constitution.

The Senate is due to reconvene next Tuesday, with APC laying claim to 53 Senators and PDP 48. The APC majority may increase to 55 if the party wins the two senate seats in Katsina and Bauchi in bye-elections on Saturday.
Oshiomhole said Saraki cannot preside over the senate and sustain a minority rule, with APC Senators in the majority.
Oshiomhole at a press briefing in Abuja today said Saraki must be impeached in accordance with the Constitution, adding that he would not be the first or the last President of the Senate to be impeached.

“He will definitely be impeached according to law and democratic norms; the only way Saraki can avoid impeachment is for him to do what is honourable.
“This again, led to the issue of character we saw in Sen. Godswill Akpabio who was the PDP leader in the Senate.
“Once he made up his mind to leave the PDP, even before announcing his defection, he wrote to his party as a man of honour, informing them of his resignation.
“Sen. Saraki has demonstrated neither character nor being a man of honour; once he made up his mind to leave the APC, the honourable thing for him to do is to resign,” Oshiomhole said.

“I think Saraki’s time is over; the way he has manipulated the politics of Kwara, he failed to understand that Nigeria’s national project is far more complicated.
“He will not only be impeached, we will have him defeated as a senator in his own senatorial zone by the people of Kwara who are fed up with Saraki.’’

Oshiomhole recalled that Buhari in 2015, got more votes from Kwara Central than Saraki got, adding that his defection to the PDP had no political consequences to the APC with regard to electoral issues.

He clarified that it was the armed robbers that linked Saraki to the Offa robbery in which several persons were killed and not the Federal Government as he claimed.
Oshiomhole also criticised Saraki for never acting in the nation’s interest as he claimed. He said Saraki had always been concerned about his personal interest and how he would remain in power.

“The President of the Senate raised the issue that he had always acted not on the bases of his own personal interest, but on national interest.
“The truth is that it is doubtful if he has ever acted either on national interest or in the interest of his own political party before his recent defection,” he said.

He alleged that while in the APC, Saraki connived with the Peoples’ Democratic Party (PDP) to become the President of the Senate and thereby conceded the position of the Deputy Senate President to the opposition.

The chairman said that Saraki did that to obtain the support of the opposition to become the President of the Senate.
He noted that the action portrayed Saraki for who he was – a person whose personal interest always came first before any other interest, including national interest.

Oshiomhole said Saraki did not stop at that, but went further to appoint PDP senators to head strategic committees whose activities could affect the workings of government and the relationship between the Executive and the Legislature.
He added that Saraki traded such sensitive positions to continue to protect himself against the wish of his party as Senate President.

According to him, the only thing that is constant in Saraki’s mind is how to remain in power even if it is at the expense of his party or the country.
The chairman disclosed that issues had been raised over whose interest the legislature under Saraki was serving, especially with regards to the budget.

He said that while Nigerians expected the APC-led Federal Government to make up for lost time this year in terms of budget implementation and addressing critical infrastructure, the Senate under Saraki was frustrating its efforts.

“The Senate under Saraki chose this period to delay the budget up to the first half of the year.
“This is to coincide with the period of rainy session to make the completion of those aspect of infrastructure, such as road, difficult.

“This was designed to frustrate the capacity of President Muhammadu Buhari to address critical infrastructural deficit,” Oshiomhole said.

NASS Siege: Saraki, Ekweremadu allege plot to twist facts and implicate them.

President of the Senate Dr Bukola Saraki and Deputy Ike Ekweremadu

The President of the Senate Dr, Abubakar Bukola Saraki and his deputy, Ike Ekweremadu have raised the alarm over an alleged plot to implicate them and some of their colleagues in the PDP in the National Assembly invasion saga.

This is contained in a statement co-signed by Yusuph Olaniyonu, Special Adviser (Media and Publicity) to President of the Senate and Uche Anichukwu, Special Adviser on Media to Deputy Senate President.

According to the statement, they alleged that the Federal Government plans to implicate them in last Tuesday’s Invasion of the premises of the National Assembly by men of the Department of State Services (DSS).

The Federal Government had sacked the DG of DSS Lawal Daura over the invasion, a move which the National Assembly leadership had earlier commended.

The presiding officers of the Senate however alleged that after receiving the interim report submitted by the Inspector General of Police (IGP), Mr. Idris Ibrahim, the Presidency has today constituted a closet panel to review the report and submit a final recommendation.

“The mandate of this closet panel, the two legislators stated, is to turn facts on the head and blame the invasion of the National Assembly on the two leaders of the Red Chamber of the National Assembly, who will then be presented as having worked in tandem with the sacked Director General of the DSS, Mallam Lawal Daura to stage the parliamentary security breach.

“We have been reliably informed that instead of the Presidency to set up a public inquiry or judicial commission to probe last Tuesday’s early morning Invasion of the National Assembly as being demanded by the general public, they have commenced a process of manipulation and fabrication.

“The Presidency has set up a closet panel, which would work to a predetermined conclusion in which they will now claim that the Senate President and the Deputy Senate President worked in collusion with ex-DG of DSS, Lawal Daura to stage the invasion.

“They want to shield the fact that the previous night before the invasion and up till the early hours of Tuesday, there was a meeting of the All Progressives Congress (APC) senators and that the plan was for them to be moved in a coaster bus into the National Assembly complex later that morning for them to purportedly remove us and select a new Senate President and Deputy Senate President.

“Their plot only failed because the media, particularly social media, Nigerians and international community responded very swiftly as some legislators who came into the complex were refused entry by gun-wielding, hooded security operatives.

“Now, they want to turn the facts on its head and blame us for their botched plot against democracy. We are hereby alerting all Nigerians and members of the international community that the present Nigerian government will stop at nothing to destroy, suppress and incapacitate the opposition. This is their new tactic and plot as we approach the period of the 2019 polls.

“We hereby reiterate our earlier position that the coup against democracy as represented by last week’s invasion must be probed through an independent judicial commission of inquiry which will produce a comprehensive report. We reject any manipulated and fabricated investigation,” Saraki and Ekweremadu stated.

The presiding officers added that they have also uncovered a sinister plot in which the government plans to use the anti-graft and security agencies to incarcerate them and some members of their families from next week, all in a bid to break their will and effect their removal.

This 45-year-old Sexy Grand Pa’ with 22 kids, 21 baby mamas,1 Grand child is trending now (Photos)

Trending instagram user, ‘The Sexy Grand Pa‘ is giving Irvin Randle who was dubbed #MrStealYourGrandma a run for his money, with his hunky figure.

The Sexy Grand Pa said to be 45-year-old, has 22 kids (12 girls and 10 boys) with 21 baby mamas, and is also a proud grandfather of one. Here are cute photos of him below;

Few years ago, Irvin Randle also didn’t ask to be famous. Until the end of June 2016, he was just an elementary schoolteacher in Houston, Texas. Admittedly, he was a particularly well-dressed , who’s been “dressing pretty swagger and pretty trendy all my life,” he says. Then one of his Facebook friends asked if he could repost photos of Randle to Instagram, and Randle’s life changed overnight.

Randle’s pictures received 37,000 likes in less than an hour. His daughter called him from California to tell him he was trending on Twitter. He didn’t know what “trending” meant.

The 55-year-old, who is grandfather to two grandchildren, was dubbed by the internet as #MrStealYourGrandma. “I kind of got upset for a minute,” Randle says, “I don’t want anybody’s grandma.” But then he leaned into it, making his first public appearance just two days later at the Essence Music Festival in New Orleans. He went from having 5,000 friends on Facebook to commanding an official Facebook page with 838,000 likes. His humble 291 followers on Instagram snowballed to 140,000. He learned what it meant to trend — and all that came with it. “I can tell you from there, it has just been a very exciting and pleasant ride for myself,” he says.

On looking good, he said;

I eat right. I don’t eat any sugar. Cookies, candy, chips, ice cream — I cut all that out. I have a granddaughter that’s 4 years old, and when she came along, I was like, OK, I want to be around for her. I want to run and play and go to the park.I don’t want to be that grandpa that sits on a bench and babysits. I started jogging, I do 30 push-ups every morning, I run five days a week, I work out for 45 minutes, and it makes me feel good. And I now have a 9-month-old grandson and he’s very active, and when I’m around him, I just feel good about it. I’m involved.

Gunmen kill nine people in fresh Benue attack

Gov. Samuel Ortom of Benue State.
Suspected gunmen have attacked Tse Ujoh community in Ikyurav-Tiev in Katsina Alla local Government area of Benue State and killed nine people.
While an eyewitness said that 12 people were found dead, Police confirmed nine person killed in the attack, Punch reports.
According to an eyewitness account, the attackers stormed the community in a commando manner, shooting indiscriminately, leading to the death of eight persons on the spot.
The eyewitness further said that some people were injured and taken to an undisclosed hospital, where four others later died.
“The attackers stormed Tse Ujoh village in Ikyurav-Tiev in the early hours of Friday. As soon as they invaded the village, they were shooting indiscriminately, while some of the attackers entered into houses and attacked people.
“By the time they left, several people were injured, at least 12 bodies were found and taken to hospital morgue, the eyewitness said.
Reacting to the attack, Governor Samuel Ortom, who decried the constant attacks on Katsina Alla axis, said that nine people were killed.
The governor described as “unacceptable” the latest attack on Tse-Ujoh in Ikyurav-Tiev of Katsina-Ala local government area which left nine persons dead in the early hours of Friday.
The governor, who spoke through his Chief Press Secretary, Terver Akase, disclosed that troops had been deployed to the affected area to bring the situation under control.
He assured the people of Katsina-Ala that steps had been taken to prevent further attacks in the area, adding that three persons had been arrested in connection with the attack.
The statement further said, “Governor Ortom reassured the people of the state that his administration will not allow armed militia to continue to terrorise communities.

Stop deceiving yourselves, you can’t remove Saraki, Ekweremadu – PDP tells Presidency, APC

The Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, on Friday challenged the “Buhari Presidency and the All Progressives Congress (APC) to stop deluding themselves and come to terms with the reality that they lack the legislative number and constitutional facilities to impeach Senate President Bukola Saraki and Deputy Senate President Ike Ekweremadu, or to even call for their resignation.”PDP said the President Muhammadu Buhari-led administration and the APC, “having realized that there is no way they can muster the constitutionally required two-third votes of the 109 senators (representing 73 senators), engaged in underhand tactics, including the invasion of the National Assembly, which turned out a disgraceful adventure.”

This was contained in a statement by the PDP spokesman, Kola Ologbondiyan, which read in part, “Even before then, Nigerians were already aware of moves to use humongous funds to induce lawmakers to trigger crisis in the National Assembly and pave the way for the removal of presiding officers.

“Now that they have discovered that there is no way they can achieve their devious intentions, they have commenced a war of blackmail, distortions of fact and media trial against the Senate leadership, which, of course, will end up as another wasteful venture as Nigerians are aware of the long-drawn desperation of the Buhari Presidency to annex the legislature.

“Even among the ranks of the depleted APC senators and members of the House of Representatives, there is a huge aversion to the underhand tactics being deployed by the Buhari Presidency and the APC to force out duly elected presiding officers of the National Assembly.
“As such, such lawmakers are fully aligned with Nigerians, the PDP and the National Assembly leadership in the protection of the independence, sanctity and integrity of our parliament and all democratic institutions in our land.

“It is therefore instructive for both the Buhari Presidency and the APC to know that there is no way they can remove the leadership of the National Assembly, particularly the Senate.”

The main opposition party went on to caution the Presidency and the APC “to stop overheating the polity with their outbursts and shed future perverse attempts to circumvent our rules and constitution, as such will not help them or change the resolve of Nigerians to vote them out in 2019.”

Daura operated ‘govt within Buhari’s govt’, what Osinbajo must do to sacked DG DSS – Ex-Kaduna gov, Umar

Former governor of Kaduna State, Colonel Abubakar Dangiwa Umar (retd) has alleged that the sacked Director-General of the Department of State Services, DSS, Lawal Daura operated “a government within a government”.

Umar said this while commending the Acting President, obe Daura in order to “seek to discover the motives as well as the explanation for some of those crazy maneuvers.”

In a statement he personally signed and issued on Friday, the former governor accused Daura of marching from one audacious act of impunity to another, adding that the sacked DSS DG never regarded the rule of law during his three years in office.

The statement entitled, ‘Dismissal of Alhaji LAWAL DAURA, D-G SS: Not a Minute Too Soon’, reads, “Without a doubt, the summary dismissal of Alhaji Lawal Daura, Director-General, Department, State Security, came as a big surprise to many people. It seemed to contradict the world order!

“In the last three years, Lawal Daura had marched from one audacious act of impunity to another; had rudely defied the President, had routinely ignored court orders and seemed all but successful in carving out, for himself, a government within a government in Nigeria. There was hardly any observer of the turbulent Nigerian political scene over the last several years who still believed that Lawal Daura was subject to any laws not to speak of an official code of behavior.

“But on Thursday, the 7th of August, 2018, Acting President, Professor Yemi Osinbajo signed a terse, two-paragraph letter telling Lawal Daura that he has been dismissed from office. Not only that, Professor Osinbajo also ordered Lawal Daura be arrested and remanded in police custody.

“Given all the distress created by the actions of Lawal Daura and those caused through his refusal to act, the decision to sack him did not come a moment too soon.

“And yet, in the interest of our democracy, in order to guard against unexpected threats and conspiracies, the action taken by the acting President must not stop halfway. The government should seek to discover the motives as well as the explanation for some of those crazy maneuvers, many of which simply beggars belief.

“The questions should include the following: (I) Where and in what condition are all the assets handed over to Lawal Daura by the immediate past D-G, SS, Mr. Ita Ekpenyong?

“(I1) What are the reasons why Lawal Daura deployed SS operatives and prevented EFCC personnel from searching the residences of former D-G, SS, Mr Ekpenyong and former D-G, NIA, Mr Oke?

“(111) What is the explanation for the raid on the farm belonging to Ibrahim Magu, Chairman, EFCC, which raid led to loss of lives?

“(1V) Was it not true that Lawal Daura moved to seize and appropriate over fourty three million US dollar NIA funds if he was not prevented from doing so by the National Security Adviser?

“(V) Why did Lawal Daura continuously and in blatant defiance of the President sent false reports to the Nigerian Senate that frustrated the confirmation of Ibrahim Magu as substantive Chairman of the EFCC?

“(VI) Why did he continue to ignore court orders allowing several people detained by him to be released on bail?”

Still basking in the euphoria of his defection ,APC in a new statement says Saraki has been a dismal failure.

The All Progressives Congress (APC) has described the Senate President Bukola Saraki as a dismal failure.

Saraki had defected from the APC to join the opposition People’s Democratic Party (PDP), and reported moves to remove him from his position have failed.

The Cable reports that in a statement released by the APC’s acting National Publicity Secretary, Yekini Nabena, Saraki was described as the worst Senate President Nigeria has ever seen.

Read the statement below:

In every democratic country, the position of the senate president is one of the highest political offices one can attain. It is a position reserved for the best of the best, experienced and exemplary politicians who by their character and conduct in public offices, the younger generation look up to as role models.

In terms of exemplary personage, the reverse is the case in respect of the current Senate President, Dr. Bukola Saraki who has been a dismal failure and has been involved in one controversy or the other – budget padding, filibustering, legislative rascality, sabotage of matters of national interest, among other criminalities too numerous to mention.

Having suffered under the 16-year misrule of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Dr. Saraki will go down in our country’s history as the worst Senate President Nigeria has had the misfortune to have.

Since his usurpation of the coveted seat, achieved through a wicked conspiracy with members of the opposition PDP, it has been from one controversy to another – the Code of Conduct trial for false declaration of assets; conspiracy with his deputy to fraudulently alter the rules of the Senate and links to the deadly armed robbers who wasted many lives in the Offa robbery attack. It is alleged that some of the robbery suspects were his political thugs used to rig elections; a common adage says: ‘Show me your friends and I will tell you who you are.’

One is of course not surprised as Dr. Saraki’s greed, selfishness, treachery, disregard for protocol and constituted authority is well-reported. In terms of treachery, Dr. Saraki’s public humiliation of his late father and sister comes readily to mind.

A traitor will always be a traitor, however the time and place. The Senate must do everything possible to put Dr. Saraki where he rightly belongs – the back seat. He is definitely not a fit and proper person to preside over the country’s upper and revered legislative house.

A man who betrayed his father, sister (many times), his party PDP in 2014, the APC in 2015 by conspiring with opposition PDP senators to emerge Senate President, APC administration by sabotaging the executive and defecting to the PDP in 2018 has no character, principles, values and integrity. His only interest is Bukola Saraki, Bukola Saraki and Bukola Saraki. The question is not IF he will defect again from PDP if Bukola Saraki’s interest is not served, but WHEN he will do so. Such mean men are not interested in the Nigeria of our dreams.

APC, PDP field the KAITA brothers in Katsina by-election

Ahead of Saturday’s senatorial by-election in President Muhammadu Buhari’s Kastina North senatorial district, the two candidates of the two major political parties in the election, APC and PDP, are brothers from the same father.

A presidential aide, Bashir Ahmed, in a tweet said, Ahmad Babba Kaita (APC) and Kabir Babba Kaita (PDP), have same father but different mothers.
The by-election for the Daura Senatorial District was necessitated by the death of Senator Mustapha Bukar on April 4, 2018.
The PDP candidate is the elder brother and a retired Customs officer while the APC flagbearer is a serving member of the House of Representatives representing Kusada/Ingawa/Kankia Federal Constituency.

Expectedly, the Buhari factor will play out in the Daura by-election that will be conducted in 12 local government areas of the state.
