Coach gets 7 match ban by disciplinary committee for calling a Nigerian player Black Idiot.

Olimpija coach Marko Nikolic has been slammed with a seven-match ban by the disciplinary committee of the Football Association of Slovenia after his comment of ‘black idiot’ against Nigerian striker Blessing Eleke was viewed as racist.
This ban means that the coach will not be on the Olimpija bench until the end of the season, which has seven rounds of matches to go.

Nikolic made his comments in Sunday's game between Olimpija and ZAVRČ when Nigerian went on a wild celebration after his stoppage time equaliser.

"The disciplinary procedure has relied on the TV clip which clearly established that Nikolic commented after Eleke late equaliser with inappropriate language when he loudly exclaimed: “See idiot Crnog "(in Slovenian): 'Look at the idiot black"), "announced the Football Association of Slovenia.

Nikolic’s ban does allow him access to the changing rooms and formal technical area. He will also pay a fine of 1,500 Euros.

The minimum sanction for this offence is a five-match ban. The coach has three days to appeal this ban.

Unknown gunmen attack Gov Ikpeazu's convoy along Aba-Owerri road.

The increasing state of insecurity in Aba, Abia State, took a new dimension on Wednesday night when Governor Okezie Ikpeazu’s convoy was attacked in an encounter with armed robbers, who were robbing commuters along Aba-Owerri Road.

This is even as a yet-to-be identified victim was kidnapped at Immaculate Junction, while another is being feared dead after he was hit by stray bullet.

It was gathered that the incident took place near Immaculate Junction along the ever busy Aba-Owerri Road, while the governor was coming back to Aba from Umuahia at 8p.m.

Though no life was lost, sources said that the security details attached to the governor fired sporadic shots, which scared the robbers away.

Sources told newsmen that the gunmen were robbing a suspected Lagos bound bus, when a pilot security van without siren and amber light approached the area. On sighting the security vehicle, the gunmen were said to have opened fire without knowing that it was the governor’s convoy.

According to a security operative in the city, who pleaded anonymity, “the robbers did not know that it was the governor. They thought that it could be the Army or police, but when they discovered it was the governor’s convoy with its full complement of security details, they took to their heels.

“I do not think it was the governor that the hoodlums wanted to attack. It is just that the governor’s convoy that was returning from work without the usual siren and the revolving amber light, ran into them.”

Contacted, spokesman of Abia State Police Command, DSP Ezekiel Onyeke, confirmed the incident, but debunked reports that the gunmen attacked the governor’s convoy.

Onyeke added that he was yet to be fully briefed by the Chief Security Officer to the governor over the incident.

Dignitaries refuse to disclose their donations at Hajia Aisha Buhari's book launch.

Dignitaries who on Thursday attended the public presentation of a book written by the wife of President Muhammadu Buhari, Aisha, deliberately refused to make their donations public.

It was not clear whether their decision was based on the present administration’s anti-graft posture.

The prominent Nigerians converged on the old Banquet Hall of the Presidential Villa, Abuja, for the presentation of Mrs. Buhari’s book, “The Essentials of Beauty Therapy: A Complete Guide for Beauty Therapy.”

The proceeds from the presentation, the organisers said, would be sent to parents of the over 200 schoolgirls abducted from Chibok in April, 2014 and the parents of the boys abducted in Buni Yadi.

Vice-President Yemi Osinbajo started the secret donation when he announced that Mrs. Buhari should not expect any big donation from him because he and the President were on half salaries.

He added that he would not be able to donate big money because “Buhari is very strict on money matters.”

“The President and I are on half salaries. The President is very strict on money issues. So, don’t expect me to make a large donation,” he said.

Osinbajo said the presentation of the book highlighted the importance of the girl-child education as he observed that if the wife of the President had not got the opportunity to go to school, she would not have been able to write the book and teach others.

He said, “Girl-child education is still an issue, girls not having the opportunity to go to school. If the wife of the President didn’t have the opportunity to go to school, she wouldn’t have had the opportunity to reach others.

“It emphasises the importance of education. Her desire to dedicate the proceeds of the presentation to the victims of insurgency and particularly the families of the Chibok girls is commendable.”

The national leader of the All Progressives Congress, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, who was the chairman of the occasion, also failed to announce his donation.

Tinubu, who was represented by his wife, Oluremi, however, commended Mrs. Buhari for her decision to invest the proceeds in charity.

On the importance of the book, the APC leader said Nigeria and Nigerians needed to begin to pay attention to beauty industry which he said was capable of generating income and employment.

He also stressed the need to set up beauty and therapy schools where interested persons would be properly trained.

The book presenter, Senator Daisy Danjuma, also failed to make her donation public.

She however commended Mrs. Buhari for writing the book.

The Kogi State Governor, Alhaji Yahaya Bello, who spoke on behalf of the 36 state governors, also followed the same line.

Although, he promised that state governors would make the books available to all the local government areas in the country, he did not announce how much they would pay.

Others who spoke but failed to announce their donations were the Executive Secretary of the National Board for Technical Education, Dr. Musa’udu Kazaure; the Chief Executive Officer of the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control, Prof. Abdusalami Nasidi; and the wife of Kebbi State Governor, Dr. Zainab Bagudu.

In her remarks, Mrs. Buhari said her decision to present the book now was to contribute to the support of victims of insurgency, particularly mothers and children as well as malnourished kids across the nation.

She urged members of the audience to buy the book to support the girl-child education.

LandLady arrested for setting tenants apartment on fire.

The Lagos State Police Command has arrested a landlady, Mrs. Nike Azeez, for allegedly setting fire to her tenants’ apartment in the Ijegun area of the state.

It was learnt that Azeez, who lives on Two Brothers Street, was arrested on Thursday by the Isheri-Oshun Police Division.

It was gathered that the landlady allegedly set fire to the apartment, rented by a couple – Shakiru Adeleke and Abosede – during an altercation on Tuesday around 8.30am.

It was gathered that the landlady allegedly grabbed the couple’s two-year-old boy, Adam, and dropped him on the ground, before he was rescued by neighbours.

Our correspondent learnt that the altercation bordered on Azeez’s alleged insistence that Shakiru and his family should pack out of the house.

A neighbour, who spoke on condition of anonymity, said, “The cause of the disagreement was that the landlady did not want the family in the house again.

“On Tuesday, she took some petrol and poured it around the couple’s apartment before setting fire to it. We quickly mobilised to put out the fire, but it had destroyed the apartment.”

Our correspondent learnt that Azeez allegedly absconded from the house on Tuesday, after the matter was reported at the police station. However, she was arrested on Thursday.

Speaking with PUNCH Metro, the tenant, Shakiru, said, “I rented this house two years ago and I have a small generator which I used. Few weeks ago, the landlord said I should stop using the generator, which I ignored.

“His wife said I must listen to her husband or leave their house. She later brought some people to remove the doors and windows of the house.

“On Tuesday, I was not at home when the incident happened. It was my wife who called me that the landlady had set fire to our apartment. When I got back home, most of my property had been burnt.”

Shakiru’s wife, Abosede, told our correspondent that she had taken Adam to a hospital.

She said on the telephone, “During the commotion caused by our landlord’s wife, she threw my son over the fence and the boy hit the ground and injured his head.

“I am at the hospital. He has taken an X-ray and other checkups. I cannot estimate how much we have spent since Tuesday to treat him.”

When contacted on the telephone, the landlady’s husband, Jamiu Azeez, admitted that his wife beat up Abosede, Shakiru’s wife, but denied that she set fire to the house.

He said, “I was not there. I only know she went to the apartment to fight and left. People accused her of setting fire to it, but my wife has denied it.

“My tenant’s wife usually cooks in the parlour, and the cooking could have started the fire. My wife said she only beat up the tenant’s wife.

“Abosede had once brought thugs to the house to beat up my wife. So, my wife went to revenge. My tenant’s wife also keeps petrol in the house. I had to go and report her to the police to stop doing all that. We settled this matter, but my wife was not aware that we had settled the matter.

“About the injured two-year-old boy, my wife only picked up the boy to threaten his mother to come out of the room where she had locked herself up. It was the neighbours who struggled to take the child from her, and the boy got injured in the process. I am at the station, but my wife is in detention. She did not set fire to the house.”

The Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer, SP Dolapo Badmos, confirmed the incident.

She said, “She will be charged to court as soon as investigation is concluded.”

Sagay,Falana condemn moves by Senate to amend the law setting up CCT/CCB.

The Chairman of the Presidential Advisory Committee against Corruption, Prof. Itse Sagay (SAN), and human rights lawyer, Mr. Femi Falana (SAN), have condemned the move by the Senate to amend the law setting up the Code of Conduct Bureau and the Code of Conduct Tribunal, with a view to whittling down the agencies’ powers.

The Senior Advocates of Nigeria said the commencement of the amendment of the Act, establishing the CCB and CCT by the Senate, had exposed the intention of the country’s legislators to encourage corrupt practices and shield corrupt leaders from prosecution.

The Senate, on Thursday, passed for second reading, a bill for to amend the CCB and Tribunal Act barely 48 hours after its presentation by the sponsor, Senator Peter Nwaoboshi, (Peoples Democratic Party, Delta North), on the floor of the upper chamber.

It has also set Tuesday next week to begin deliberation on another bill meant to amend the Administration of Criminal Justice Act that will remove the powers of the CCT to try criminal cases.

Both bills were presented on the floor of the upper chamber and read for the first time on Tuesday.

Some observers wondered if the rush to pass the bill to amend the CCB Act was not a ploy by the red chamber to frustrate the current trial of the Senate President, Bukola Saraki, at the CCT.

The Senate President is facing criminal prosecution for alleged false and anticipatory asset declaration during his tenure as the Kwara State governor between 2003 and 2011.

Saraki had instituted serial suits at the Federal High Court in Abuja, where he had challenged the constitution of the CCT to try his case.

He also instituted a suit challenging the jurisdiction of the CCT to try him.

The Senate President pursued the suits to the Supreme Court but lost.

Another of his suits seeks to stop his trial before the CCT on the basis that the trial violated his fundamental human rights.

The court has fixed Friday (today) to deliver judgment on the case.

But Sagay said the move by the senators had exposed the level of lack of moral integrity on the part of the members of the red chamber.

Sagay stated, “It’s a surprise to me, because I really don’t know that our mentality has degenerated to such a level of self-service that the people, who were sent to the National Assembly to make laws for the benefit of all Nigerians, have started a process that will allow a complete crisis; an Act that corruption cannot be prosecuted.

“To me, this is the highest level of shameless misconduct by the generality of the members of the red chamber. Obviously, there is no limit to the level of disgusting things they can do.”

Falana, in his reaction on Thursday, described the proposed amendment of the CCB/T Act and the ACJ Act as an ill wind that would blow no good to those behind it.

Speaking with one of our correspondents on the telephone, Falana said the proposed amendment amounted to a conflict of interest because it was being proposed because of one man.

He, however, pointed out that even if the amendment succeeded, by virtue of the provisions of the constitution, it would not have a retroactive effect, adding that it would not have any effect on cases already pending in court.

Falana said, “Any amendment of the law under the constitution cannot and will not have retrospective effect. The amendment will not have any effect on pending cases in court.

“The excuse being advanced for the devilish agenda is jejune because the CCT, whose members are screened for appointment by the Senate, cannot be said to be under the office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation.

“The proposed amendment also amounts to a conflict of interest because you cannot, because of one man, amend the law of the land. It will amount to an exercise in futility.”

Another SAN, Mr. Kunle Ogunba, believed it was doubtful that the Senate would want to take such a step, especially in view of the public outcry against corruption in the country.

Ogunba, who said having not seen the provisions of the said bill, he could not give a detailed response, doubted whether any amendment to the CCT Act could affect a trial that was already ongoing before the CCT.

Ogunba said, “Well, I have not seen the provisions (of the bill) and I don’t know if it will have a retroactive effect to the extent that it will affect a case that is already instituted and ongoing.

“For me, it is still a subject of speculation. And I don’t think that the Senate, in view of the outcry that has attended the ongoing trial of the Senate President, will do anything that will further enmesh that august institution in further controversy by passing a law to undermine or terminate the proceedings.

“But if it is true, it is very condemnable.”

In his lead debate, Nwaoboshi said the Act, promulgated in 1989, came into operation in 1991 based on the provisions of the 1979 Constitution.

He explained that the Act captured in the 1999 Constitution had two schedules, dealing extensively with the Code of Conduct for Public Officers.

The Bureau, he said, was vested with power to receive declarations by public officers made under paragraph 12 of Part 1 of the Fifth Schedule of the Constitution and examine the declarations in accordance with the requirements of the code of conduct or any law.

He stated that the CCB was empowered to retain custody of such declarations and make them available for inspection by citizens of Nigeria on such terms and conditions as the National Assembly might prescribe.

Nwaoboshi added that the bureau was meant to ensure compliance with, and where appropriate, enforce the provisions of the Code of Conduct of any law relating to it and receive complaints about non-compliance with or breach of the provisions of the CCB.

He, however, said he was proposing an amendment to Section three of the CCB and Tribunal Act  to give every public officer appearing before the Bureau fair hearing as provided for under Section 36 (2)(a) of the CFRN 1999.

The section, he said, “provides for an opportunity for the person whose rights and obligations may be affected to make representations to the administering authority before that authority makes the decision affecting that person”.

Nwaoboshi said, “In my proposed amendment, the section now looks like this; “The functions of the Bureau shall be to – (a) receive asset declarations by officers in accordance with the provisions of this Act; and (b) take and retain custody of such asset declarations.

“It shall examine the asset declarations and ensure that they comply with the requirements of this Act and of any law for the time being in force if otherwise the Bureau shall invite the public officer concerned and take down his statement in writing.

“It shall receive complaints about non-compliance with or breach of this Act and where the Bureau, having regard to any statement taken or to be taken after such subsequent complaint is made, considers it necessary to do so.

“It shall investigate the complaint and where appropriate, refer such complaints to the Code of Conduct Tribunal established by Section 20 of this Act and the constitution in accordance with the provisions of sections 20 to 25 of this Act.

“From the above, it is clear that sub-section 3(a) has been retained while sub-section 3(c) now becomes sub-section 3(b) and sub-sections 3(c) and (3d) have been altered to give fair hearing, equity and justice to every public officer that is invited to appear before the Bureau in line with the constitutional provision as enumerated above.

“Paragraph 17 of the Third Schedule to the Principal Act is amended by completely deleting same.

“This is because if you look at the caption of the Act, after Code of Conduct Bureau and Tribunal Act, it reads, “An Act to provide for the establishment of the Code of Conduct Bureau and Tribunal to deal with complaints of Corruption by Public Servants for breach of its provisions.

“It is clear that the Act does not contemplate criminal trial so the usage of Criminal Procedure Act and the Criminal Procedure Code should not be used as a procedural template in the Tribunal.”

The senator pledged to present to the Senate, in due course, a comprehensive amendment of the Third Schedule to the Code of Conduct Bureau and Tribunal Rules of procedure which should be the Distinct Rules for proceedings in the CCT.

Senators Dino Melaye, Barau Jubrin, Samuel Anyanwu, Biodun Olujimi, Buka Abba Ibrahim and Ibrahim Gobir, who contributed to the debate, described it as a welcome development, saying the bill deserved the support of all senators.

But the Senator representing Kebbi North, Yahaya Abdullahi, cautioned his colleagues against the passage of the bill at the time when Saraki was facing trial before the CCT.

Abdullahi said, “I just rise to raise a point of caution. I have read and gone through the areas where the amendments are sought and I am not against it, but what I have against is the timing.

“We must be ready on the issue of public perception about the position of the Senate in this regard.

“Perception can be reality, the Nigerian people can easily interprete the action we are taking today to mean that for all these years, a decree, which became law since 1991, is not being challenged until today because our principal officer is standing  trial before the same tribunal.

“I think for the credibility of this Senate, I think we should re-examine whether the timing is right for this bill to go through the second reading or not.”

But the Deputy Senate President, Ike Ekweremadu, who presided over the plenary, ruled out the observation of Abdullahi, arguing that the bill was not meant to frustrate Saraki’s trial at the CCT.

Ekweremadu said, “Let me just say that this bill absolutely has nothing to do with the proceedings going on at the Code of Conduct Tribunal in which the Senate President is involved because his trial has commenced as you are aware.

“If you look at the commencement of the bill of the last paragraph, of course, on the bill which says ‘this bill may be sighted as a code of conduct bureau tribunal Act amendment bill, 2016’.

“That means that the bill is not being made retrospective as to affect the proceedings at the code of conduct tribunal; certainly it has nothing to do with it. We are only doing our work as parliamentarians.”

The senators voted in support of the passage of the bill for the second reading and Ekweremadu referred the bill to the committees on Public Petitions and Judiciary and asked them to report back in two weeks.

Investigations by our correspondent revealed that the bill would eventually be passed in the next two weeks and transmitted to President Muhammadu Buhari for assent.

The Senate is also set to begin deliberation on the bill to amend the Administration of Criminal Justice Act 2015, with a provision to strip the CCT and courts martial and other tribunals in the country.

The bill, sponsored by Senator Isa Misau, and read for the first time on Tuesday, had been slated for deliberation next week Tuesday.

FG gives reasons why President Buhari travels frequently.

The Federal Government has now given reasons why President Muhammadu Buhari travels outside the shores of Nigeria frequently.

Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Bulus Lolo, told newsmen on the sideline of President Buhari’s visit to China that Nigerians owe him a great debt of gratitude for travelling abroad where he deploys goodwill for the benefit of Nigerians.
Lolo maintained that those criticising the president are rather uninformed, saying Nigeria has benefited a lot from the president’s frequent trips.
“On Tuesday, the Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria signed an agreement with China, providing us a $5 billion window, which is like we have added to our reserve by about five billion because any goods you buy today, either from China or elsewhere, and you want to pay, you don’t have to draw from our national reserve.
“We can use this window that has been provided. That is one advantage the president brings from his frequent travels.
“Doors were locked against Nigeria, but, now, they are putting red carpet for him to walk through, and as he walks through, Nigeria businessmen are behind him, opening new opportunities. The second advantage of Mr President’s travels comes from the fact that he is trusted around the world. This is not a commodity you pick from a shelf in a shop. It is personal to him, but, he is expending it for the good of the country.
“The third benefit of his travels is his integrity. Where there is trust and there is integrity, people believe you. They are ready to do business with you,” Lolo said.
Lolo added that because the president travels, things that Nigeria was denied are presently thrown open to the country. “Talk of three, four years ago in our fight against Boko Haram; with money in our hands, we were looking for equipment to buy, we couldn’t buy. Today, there is not a single country that he has visited where he is not being invited to tell them what he wants to buy, including the very equipment we were denied before. It is ours to ask, and, sometimes, even at subsidised rate.
“In a nutshell, the answer is very simple: we owe him a great debt of gratitude for expending his goodwill, his integrity and trust that he enjoys…”

Anietie Ekong, an aide to Senator Godswill Akpabio has been dragged to court for drugging, raping and releasing a lady’s nude photos.

According to instablog9ja, Miss Paula Lawrence, 30, has dragged the media aide to the Senate Minority Leader, to a Federal High Court sitting in Abuja.

In suit number FHC/ABJ/CS/121/2016, Paula accuse Ekong of having canal knowledge of her without her consent. Paula’s counsel, Mr. Oseini Bamigbaiye, in the suit is seeking the order of the court to restrain Ekong from further harassing, threatening and invading the privacy of his client and an order compelling him to tender an unreserved and written apologies in all the social media through which he defamed her‎.

According to Paula, a graduate of Theatre Arts from University of Uyo, Akpabio’s aide drugged and had canal knowledge of her and took her nude pictures and then circulated them on the social media after she met him in a hotel in Uyo, Akwa-Ibom state in 2014.

Paula said, they both met at an hotel in Uyo, where her nude picture was taken and circulated on social media after abusing her sexually.

“That in the room, Ekong brought out the bottle of red wine from the luggage in his wardrobe. At that time, I was pressed and had to use the toilet. Before I came back, he had poured the wine in the glass. That I drank from my glass of wine, while he drank from his. When I wanted to drink from his glass of wine, he refused me, saying I should drink from mine. Shortly after drinking, I started feeling dizzy and drunk. He made love to me and I slept off till the next morning. I did not know that while I was drunk, he took nude picture of me with his cell phone camera,” she narrated.

15 year old girl narrates how her uncle defiled her.

15-year-old girl, Joy, yesterday at the Lagos State Police command headquarters, Ikeja told a chilling story how she was defiled by her uncle.

Giving a graphic account on how she was abused, Joy said “I was brutally defiled on Sunday. I was sleeping when uncle Akpan Imeh started touching me. I woke up and tried to resist him, but he overpowered me. He used his palm to cover my mouth and forcefully tore my undies and had sex with me.
“He had done same last year. I was 14 years old then, his wife confronted him and he denied it, he lied that I forgot to lock the door before sleeping and unknown rapist cashed in and slept with me. I tried to explain to mummy that it was my uncle, but she pretended she was confused.
“I could not push the case further, because mummy started behaving as if I was trying to tarnish her husband’s name. well, I decided to go on with my life.
On Sunday, I was all alone in the house in company with uncle as his wife travelled with his son. He came in the night and did it to me. I was begging him to remember that I am his sister’s daughter, but, the more I struggled, the more the thing was entering. It was so painful and blood was gushing out of my private part.
‘After doing it, he started begging that I must not tell his wife, I was pretending to reason with him. He made another attempt, and I escaped from the house. I ran as far as my legs could carry me, till I met a man, who I explained everything that happened to me.
The man took me to a hotel and said I should sleep till the following morning. He promised to take me to the police station. I could not sleep, because the more, I tried, the more the memory of what the man I call daddy did, was coming to my mind.
I am crying because I call him daddy. I started living with him when I was five. I am now 15, meaning that I have been living with him for 10 years. Even in the hotel room, the man who claimed he was helping me still tried to sleep with me, but I started shouting and he let me be.
It was my shout that attracted the staff who assisted me in escaping another rape. I now went to the police, who took me to the hospital and arrested my uncle.
The suspect, Akpan told Daily Sun that he was drunk when he committed the abominable act. I am finished; it is abomination in my community to commit incest. I slept with my sister’s daughter out of drunkenness.
It was not ordinary. One of my relations gave birth after a decade of looking for the fruit of the womb out of happiness, I drank excessively so, I did not have control of myself. It was after doing it that I realised what I did. If my home people hear what happened, I will be ostracized. my wife will kill me.”

#Ambode charges corporate organizations to support govt on security,as MTN donates 10 patrol vehicles.[Pictures].

…As MTN Foundation Lauds Gov’s Strides

…Donates 10 Patrol Vehicles

Lagos State Governor, Mr. Akinwunmi Ambode on Thursday urged corporate organizations in the country to key into the efforts of government at all levels to secure the lives and property of citizens, just as he said that development and businesses can only thrive in a peaceful atmosphere.

Governor Ambode, who said this while receiving 10 fully equipped security patrol vehicles from MTN Foundation on behalf of the Lagos State Security Trust Fund (LSTF), said security, being an everyday issue, should not be left only for government, and that there was a strong need for the Organized Private Sector (OPS) to invest in security for greater economic prosperity.

According to him, the primary purpose of government is to protect lives and property and take care of people’s welfare, but that it was not out of place to encourage the private sector to support government so as also to protect their investments and businesses.

Governor Ambode, who said his administration since inception has not minced words in placing premium on the security and welfare of the people, restated his commitment to continue to ensure a secure, safer and prosperous Lagos.

He said: “A safer Lagos is a more productive Lagos and this administration is not mincing words in that area. We are running this administration on a tripod. The first is security of lives and property. Once we are able to do that, the environment becomes more visible for job opportunities to take place because you too will do your work and employ our people.

“Those job opportunities and the productivity that we have gotten would give us the taxes we need to improve on our infrastructure.

“You see, security is never enough. It is an everyday issue but the truth is this, we will keep our streets safer, cleaner and then we have a more prosperous Lagos and that itself will make more people to live in Lagos,” Governor Ambode said.

He thanked MTN Foundation for the massive investment in security and other Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) programmes, and charged other corporate organizations to emulate such gesture.

Earlier, Chairman of MTN Foundation, Chief Julius Adelusi Adeluyi said the donation of the security equipment was an eloquent testimony of the commitment of the organization to partner with government to ensure the protection of lives and property.

Adeluyi, who said that Lagos had always been blessed with visionary leaders who work day and night to ensure that they get things done in the right way, said there was no doubt about the fact that the State always set the pace when it comes to driving the socio-economic development of Nigeria.

He commended Governor Ambode for the way he has handled the affairs of the State so far, saying it was obvious that the Governor was prepared for governance.

He said: “It is such a pleasure for me on behalf of the MTN Foundation to show my appreciation to Governor Ambode, a man who has risen to this position meritoriously and therefore gives no surprise to anyone.

“He is prepared for the job; he has been in the civil service for 27 years and he is very well prepared. He has gone to good schools around the world and I must say that the Governor is doing well and we know he will do better.

“We like to commend the Governor for efforts at driving the implementation of the Lagos State Development Agenda and there are many examples to illustrate this. For example, the Light Up Lagos Project which has been quite a success and the way you have made very good efforts to complete the various road projects outstanding and also created by you as well as the massive procurement of vehicles and equipment for the police and Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) to tackle security challenges.

“That is why we are here to indicate to you that MTN, through the MTN Foundation, is ready to partner with you to make Lagos a greater State and to support your efforts,” Adeluyi said.
