Special Fraud Unit storms Benue ,whisks away two cashiers of SUBEB.

MEN of the Special Fraud Unit at the Force headquarters, Abuja, stormed Makurdi, the Benue State capital, on Tuesday, and whisked away two cashiers of the Benue State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB).

Sources said the policemen arrived at the capital city to arrest the cashiers  for  refusal to provide the board  financial information as requested three weeks ago.

Nigerian Tribune gathered that based on petition sent to the Force headquarters by  unspecified persons, the unit had sent words to the management of the board to furnish it with financial report from 2011 to December 2015.

Chairman of the board, Reverend Philip Tachin,  who confirmed this to the Nigerian Tribune on Wednesday, said  men from the Force headquarters, Abuja, had paid an unscheduled visit to the board, demanding for some documents.

Tachin told the Nigerian Tribune that the police from Force headquarters visited the board to investigate its  activities  for four years, hence, demanded the statement of account of the board from January 2011 to 2015.

According to him, “they requested for the documents to be made available and then, left. I told the cashiers to go to the bank and get the statement of account, but they told me that the account is dormant.”

“For the umpteenth time, I instructed them to make the documents available and they failed to cooperatee. So yesterday, some police officers stormed the board and arrested them. For me, I do not have anything to hide. I will not shield anyone who is involved in any fraudulent act,” Tachin  said.

Commenting on a recent indictment by the state House of Assembly that the board was operating two payrolls, he dismissed it as “outright falsehood.”

He explained that ‘‘there had been an aberration where the Bureau for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs handed over payroll of teachers’ salaries to us as against the norm, where the board should have been the one giving out its payroll to the bureau.

“We discovered a lot of anomalies. There was always shortage in payment of teachers’ salaries. The house did not cross-check the facts from the board. The house committee chairman has since apologised for the mistake made,” he said.

On the award of contracts for renovation of over 700 primary schools in the state, the SUBEB boss debunked insinuations that it was awarded for political patronage, insisting that it followed due process.

“Over 200 contractors applied for the contract and the board’s due process committee scrutinised them thoroughly before they were given the contracts,” he said.

Benue journalists fight over Governor Ortom’s N10 million handout.

Benue State journalists are at loggerheads over a sum of N10 milion handed out to them under the auspices of the Independent Print Media Publishers Association of Nigeria, IPPAN.
According to reports, the said sum was part payment for a 24-page Independence Day advertorial published by members of the association for the state government during the tenure of former governor, Gabriel Suswam who failed to pay.

However, trouble started when the Publicity Secretary of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP in the state, Mr Bemgba Iortyom accused the Special Adviser to the governor on Media/ICT, Mr Tahav Agerzua of trying to divert 10% of the funds, also alleging a rift within the IPPN hierarchy with some members aggrieved over the sharing formula.

According to him, “…on taking custody of the money, the Ortom Media Adviser is said to have first taken a 10% cut from it for himself, and then drawn up a list of a few members considered as Ortom loyalists, which also included his name, whom he paid various sums, including himself, taking as much as N400,000.00, while some took N100,000.00, depending on the perceived degree of loyalty.

“…the total amount shared out is only a small portion of the total sum, with aggrieved members lamenting that they had participated actively in the tour for which the money was paid, but were ignored.”

In a swift reaction, Mr Agerzua who was the IPPAN Chairman when the job was done described the allegations leveled against him as baseless threatening to take legal action if not retracted.

He said, “I did not collect N10 million for members of the Independent Print-Media Publishers Association of Nigeria, IPPAN. Moreover, I did not take any percentage from it and did not short change anyone on account of loyalty or disloyalty to Governor Samuel Ortom.

“I therefore demand that you, Mr Bemgba Iortyom, retract the baseless allegations you have made against me with regard to the receipt of IPPAN funds immediately.”

The National Publicity Secretary of the association, Mr Nelson Ogbu also refuted the allegations saying it was a ridiculous, mischievous and maliciously calculated attempt to bring IPPAN to disrepute and paint the reputable members occupying various leadership positions in bad light.

According to him, “the said money that was paid to the body was electronically communicated to members

in conformity with the financial practice of this current administration.”

Mr Ogbu also added that the association was not aware of any aggrieved member occasioned by the payment and promised that internal mechanisms would be used to resolve such, should any arise.

That notwithstanding, publishers of new magazines have expressed their disgust over been left out of the governor’s largess.

Speaking, one of them claimed his phone calls to IPPAN officials on the matter has been repeatedly ignored even though he was asked to draw up a list which he had obligued.

“I called twice to register my displeasure over the devilish plot for me not to enjoy the fruit of my labour but they (IPPAN officials) refused to pick my call. Tahav produced the suppliment pull out for only publishers of Newspapers but none for News magazine publishers. Tahav asked me to produce my pull out which I did, published and submitted to the leadership of IPPAN who accepted it. Today in their little wisdom we are not qualify to be paid.” He lamented.

With allegations and counter-allegations flying around, the last is yet to be heard on this matter which has the potential of ripping the profession of journalism apart in Benue State.

JUST IN: JAMB Bans The Use Of Scratch Cards

The Joint Admission and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has frowned at situation where banks and vendors of scratch cards hoard them from students and is set to stop the use of scratch cards for registration and checking of results.

This was disclosed by JAMB Registrar Professor Ishaq Oloyode, on Tuesday, at the National Executive Council (NEC) meeting of the Non-Academic Staff Union (NASU) in Abuja.

According to him this will likely become effective from next year, 2017.

He explained that once this becomes effective, students would generate a PIN number for themselves from their phones or computers before they register for the examinations.
He frowned at situations whereby banks and vendors hoard the cards, only to sell them at a higher price.

He also charged members of NASU to involve in the ownership of Computer-Based Test (CBT) Centres, saying those who own the centres are businessmen merely exploiting students.

Ghanaian Fetish Priest Reveals Who Is Behind Mourinho’s Losses At Man Utd

Popular Ghanaian Fetish Priest, Nana Kwaku Bonsam, has alleged that Chelsea’s former doctor, Eva Carneiro, is behind the troubles of the Manchester United Manager, Jose Mourinho.

At the start of the 2016 season Mourinho had a fight with Carneiro, which led to her sack from Chelsea. Mourinho himself was sacked after the worst season in his coaching career.
He was appointed by ManUtd this season and he is currently facing a melt down.

Bonsam said: “Mourinho has to apologize again to Eva and show remorse since he (Mourinho) didn’t show repentance in his earlier apologies to her.
Carneiro possesses a higher spirit which is causing the entire calamities in Jose’s career and has been a curse therefore, if he Mourniho doesn’t take a second look at this it may get to a time he will get fed up and end his career abruptly.”
He also advised gamblers to stop putting their money on Manchester United till 2018, because the club has just started loosing.

INEC orders nationwide distribution of unclaimed PVCs.

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) on Wednesday said it had directed its states’ offices to begin the distribution of uncollected permanent voters cards (PVCs) to their owners.

Nick Dazang, deputy director of voter education and publicity in the commission, made this known in an interview with NAN in Abuja.

Dazang said the directive was part of efforts by the commission to ensure that uncollected PVCs were distributed to the registered voters.

“It will be recalled that after the 2015 general election, we had over 12 million uncollected PVCs,” he said.

“What the commission did was to direct all states of the federation, including the FCT to strategise ways of distributing the uncollected PVCs that are with them.

“It is an ongoing exercise.”

He disclosed that there was no deadline attached to the directive, adding that it was left for each state to decide on the modality for the distribution.

In June, INEC had admitted that it had over 12 million PVCs yet to be collected by registered voters across the country.

It had unveiled its plans to fully distribute the cards before the end of the year.

“the struggle has just begun” Jibrin warns Dogara.

Abdulmumin Jibrin, former chairman of the house of representatives committee on appropriations, says Yakubu Dogara, the speaker, used legislative tricks to save himself by not opening the budget padding allegations to debate.

But he insisted that “the struggle has just begun”, even warning that he would not appear before any house committee except its hearing is made public.

Earlier, the house had descended into a rowdy session where it passed a motion to investigate the breach of members privileges as a result of Jibrin’s allegations.

The motion, moved by Emmanuel Oker-Jev, chairman, rules and business of the house, said the lower chamber had come under “heavy attack” following the allegations.

Jibrin is to appear before the committee on ethics and privileges, which would investigate him and make recommendations to the house. If found guilty, Jibrin maybe suspended.

“Rather than open up the matter for discussion in view of the public interest it has generated and allow me to brief my colleagues, an opportunity I have been denied for several months, Mr speaker deployed some legislative tricks and theatrics to save the day,” he said in a statement.

“In a move that smacks of abuse of process, Speaker Dogara granted under point of order, an opportunity to the chairman of business and rules committee, who started with a speech then suddenly transited to a motion under privilege — a clear case of manipulation and gross abuse of the house rule.

“This is the easiest resort since the attempts to secure a vote of confidence had woefully failed.

“But what happened on the floor of the House today is just the end of another beginning. I have never lived with the illusion that this matter will be a sprint, knowing the deeply-rooted corrupt interest of a few cabal in the House, headed by Speaker Dogara.

“I have all the stamina and agility to go the marathon and ensure justice is served. Despite all these and since I can substantiate the allegations I raised with cogency, I will take up the opportunity provided by the Ethics committee to state my case under the condition that the hearing will be public and will allow the Press, CSOs, NGOs, NLC, ASUU, NANS, NBA and the general public to witness the entire proceedings.

“Predictably, in his speech, Mr. Speaker tried to drag the entire House into the matter to give the impression that the entire House is the accused. I wish to state for the umpteenth times that the allegations I raised are against the quartet of Speaker Yakubu Dogara, Deputy Speaker Yusuf Lasun, House Whip Alhassan Doguwa, Minority Leader Leo Ogor and few other members — not the honourable house as an institution.

“The bad news for Nigerians is that in the face of such grievous allegations against the Speaker, which members are aware of, and his decision to sit tight, he has become a lame duck Speaker. But even more painfully is the fact that we will continue to call, though in the short run, such fraudulent and corrupt persons in Dogara, Lasun, Doguwa and Ogor number 4 citizen and principal officers of the House respectively.

“Let me use this opportunity to reassure Nigerians that the struggle has just begun.”

Omokri slams Fayose for critizing Aisha Buhari's picture

Former aide to ex-President Goodluck Jonathan, Reno Omokri on Wednesday criticised Governor Ayodele Fayoe and other Nigerians over insinuations that Mr.s Aisha Buhari's picture with Michelle Obama was photoshopped.

Recall that Governor Ayodele through his media aide, Lere Olayinka had raised an alarm of fraud in the picture taken by wife of the President, Mrs Aisha Buhari with United States first lady, Mrs. Michelle Obama, where he said the picture looks like a more Photo-shopped image.

Mr. Omokri posted this on his Facebook page saying he does not like President Muhammadu Buhari but he prays for him everyday, because “he is God’s choosen.

He urged Nigerians not to attack the President’s wife and family even if they don’t agree with his policies.

He also said the picture is real, stating that he has been to similar occasions in the past.

He wrote, “The allegation that Aisha Buhari photoshopped her picture with Michelle Obama is false. Even if you don’t like President Buhari, don’t take it out on his wife or family. I’ve been at these functions. People line up to take pictures with the alpha who maintains the same pose.

" I don’t like President Muhammadu Buhari. I don’t believe him. I will never ever vote for him. Yet, I mention him by name everyday in prayer.

" Not some days. EVERYDAY. I do this because I fear God. I will criticize him. But if I do criticize him, it will be because of something he is guilty of not due to something he and his wife are innocent of. Whether you like it or not, Buhari is the Lord’s anointed, for now. If you are going to move against the Lord’s anointed, better have truth on your side or you end up like Rechab and Baanah!”

Some people are asking why President Muhammadu's children should be part of Nigerian delegation to UNGA71.

President Muhammadu Buhari is currently in New York attending the 71st session of the United Nations General assembly. One of the talking points of his trip has been the size of the Nigerian delegation to the U.N despite a grinding economic recession.
Our sources put the size of the Nigerian delegation at 64 and it remains unclear as to why two of the President’s daughters are part of the Nigerian delegation.
Nigeria’s first lady, Mrs. Aisha Buhari is also in New York.

Jibrin’s allegations destroyed NASS integrity, image – Dogara

The Speaker, House of Representatives, Mr Yakubu Dogara, said budget padding allegations in the lower chamber impacted negatively on the integrity of the National Assembly.

The speaker said this in his remarks while welcoming members back to plenary after their eight-week recess.

A member of the house, who was removed as Chairman, Appropriations Committee, Abdulmumin Jibrin, made the allegations against Dogora and some principal officers of the lower chamber.

Dogara said that the scandal orchestrated by the member posed a threat to the corporate integrity and image of the house as a democratic institution.

He said, “Shortly after we adjourned for the recess, the erstwhile Chairman, Appropriations Committee, embarked on strange propaganda clearly aimed not only at the destruction of the image of some members.

“It was also a systematic destruction of the institution of the House of Representatives and indeed, the legislature, by portraying it to the public as an irredeemably corrupt institution.

“The motivation for his actions, as he has said repeatedly, is to have the four principal officers removed from their positions and not that the truth should be known.

“These wild allegations which were initially directed at four members of the House leadership progressively engulfed the entire membership of the House and then, the institution.”

Dogara said that the house leadership chose the part of maturity by maintaining great restraint, fully conscious of the fact that at the appropriate time, the truth will prevail.

He said, “I have bad news for those who think they can pull down this institution of the people.

“If history is any guide, no one, in a democracy has ever succeeded in destroying a democratic institution such as the House of Representatives.’’

While assuring that the House was fully conscious of its watchdog role, the speaker asserted that the lawmakers would not be distracted by insidious antics to confuse Nigerians.

He described the modus operandi adopted by Jibrin to address his allegations as inappropriate, saying there were constitutional avenues to address them considering the criminal nature of some of the allegations.

“It is, however, important to briefly say that nothing warrants the deliberate attempt at destructive public misinformation aimed at discrediting the house as an institution”, he added.

The speaker promised that reforms in the budgeting process would be initiated by the National Assembly to guard against abuses.

He revealed that he had directed the various committees to conduct fact-finding on the level of implementation of the 2016 budget by various Ministries Departments and Agencies.

He said, “We must take our oversight responsibilities seriously and report back to the house.

“It is the report of the committees that will determine the level of appropriation to any MDA in 2017.”

I married a thief, husband tells court

A 42-year-old businessman, Livinus Uwa, has told an Igando Customary Court in Lagos that he married a thief.

Uwa made this known when he testified in his divorce petition against his wife, Chineye, on Wednesday in Lagos.

He urged the court to dissolve his four-year-old marriage to Chineye because of her penchant for stealing his money in the wardrobe.

“I married a thief, on severally occasions, my wife stole my money from my wardrobe, rendering me broke. The last time she burgled my room and stole N350, 000.

“I reported the theft at the police station and she confessed to the theft, but the money was not recovered,

“I have reported all her attitudes and stealing habits to both families, they called her but she refused to change,’’ he said.

The petitioner accused his wife, who failed to appear in court after several summonses of abandonment, adding that since they married, Chineye had been appearing and disappearing.

“When she was pregnant, she left the house to an unknown place and came back after she was delivered of the baby.

“She abandoned our baby when she was 10-month-old; I have to engage a baby sitter to take care of her. When the baby was two years, I enrolled her in school and my wife reappeared,’’ he said.

He described his estranged wife as a lazy and dirty woman, adding that “Chineye is lazy, she cannot cook, wash or sweep and I do the house chores.

Uwa pleaded with the court to dissolve the marriage, since he could no longer condone her stealing habits, adding that he was no longer in love with her.

In his judgment, President of the court, Mr Adegboyega Omilola, dissolved the marriage.

Omilola held that it was obvious from available testimony and the respondent’s refusal to appear in court that the marriage had hit the rock.

He said throughout the duration of this case, the respondent refused to honour court summon, adding that the court had no other choice than to dissolve the marriage.

“The marriage between Livinus Uwa and Chineye Uwa is hereby dissolved from today, both parties are no longer husband and wife, they are free to go their separate ways without any hindrances and molestation,’’ Omilola said.

Crazy : The Game Finally Reveals The Names Of The 3 Kardashians He’s Bedded.

Earlier this year rapper The Game claimed he had bedded THREE Kardashians – Kim, Khloe and Blac Chyna…Continue..

“I used to fk bches that Usher Raymond passed on,” he raps on song Sauce. “Then I f**ked three Kardashians / Hold that thought.”

Appearing on The Wendy Williams Show on Tuesday, the outspoken host didn’t waste any time before grilling the star on exactly who he was rapping about.

“The Game has a song and in the song you clearly hear him say that he slept with three Kardashians,” she tells the audience.

“Have you slept with Khloe?” Wendy asks. Without responding, the 36-year-old simply let out a telling sigh.

“You got down with Khloe. Now, did you get down with Kourtney?” she continues.

“No,” he replies before Wendy then asks if he bedded reality queen Kim. Again, he doesn’t reply but just gives another telling look.

“You know what? I’ll tell you this,” he adds. “Kanye is a really good friend of mine and they got really, really beautiful kids and I don’t want to disrespect their family.”

“And Lamar is a really good friend of yours too,” a disapproving Wendy chimes in. “Two out of three ain’t bad as Meat Loaf would say,” the host continues before the rapper dishes on the third and final person.

“No, there was three,” he fired back. “It gets a little tricky.”

Then the rapper drops the bombshell that it’s actually Rob Kardashian’s pregnant fiancee Blac Chyna – soon to be Kardashian.

“Chyna ain’t married yet,” he adds as the shocked audience let out gasps.

So Sad!! Pastor Drowns & Dies Trying To Do The Miracle Jesus Did By Walking On Water.

A 35-year-old pastor in Gabon, Franck Kabele, has died while trying to take after Jesus in the Bible. Reports claim that Kabele told his congregation that he was capable of reenacting the same miracles of Jesus Christ in the Bible. He decided to make it clear through way of demonstration on Gabon’s beach in the capital city of Libreville.

Using Matthew 14:22-33 as reference, Kabele said that he received a revelation which told him that with enough faith he
could achieve what Jesus did also. This is not the first incident of this nature in Africa. At Ibadan zoo in south-west Nigeria, a self-proclaimed prophet claimed to be able to do what the Daniel of the bible did by walking into a den full of lions.

Though he was warned numerous times by zoo keepers, the prophet thought of them as nothing more than enemies of progress. The prophet, with a crowd of people watching, put on a long red robe and proceeded to enter the cage full of lions.

HE was ripped apart from flesh to bone within seconds of entrance into the lions’ den.

PDP Spits Fire Over Supreme Court Verdict On Kogi Election

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has rejected Supreme Court’s affirmation of Yahaya Bello as the duly elected governor of Kogi State.

The party also said that although the outcome of the suit was against its candidate, Captain Idris Wada, it would remain law abiding.

The position of the party was contained in a statement issued by its spokesperson, Dayo Adeyeye.

The statement reads: “The Supreme Court has today upheld the decision of the Court of Appeal and the Kogi State Election Petition Tribunal validating the election of Alhaji Yahaya Bello as Governor of Kogi State.

“Although we disagree with the judgment of the Supreme Court, we have no choice but to accept and respect it.

“The Supreme Court is the final arbiter on legal issues in Nigeria and as such we are obligated to accept and abide by this decision. Like the Late revered Justice of the Supreme Court – Justice Chukwudifu Akunne Oputa – once said, “the Supreme Court is not final because it is infallible. It is infallible because it is final”. As such we are bound to respect this decision.

“We call on our teeming members and supporters in Kogi State to accept this judgment with equanimity. We urge them to be law abiding in all their activities.

“We will soon begin planning programmes and creating an awareness campaign to ensure that the administration of Yahaya Bello, which is known for frittering away the scarce resources of the Kogi people, will not stay a day longer than the period stipulated for its tenure by the Constitution.

UNGA:Gov Ortom advocates stakeholders involvement in SDG implementation. PHOTOS

Benue State Governor, Samuel Ortom, has advocated the involvement of all stakeholders in the implementation of Sustainable Development Goals projects.
He spoke at a side event on " Experiences in Multi-stakeholders Engagement in the Implementation of SDGs in Africa" held at the United Nations Headquarters in New York, the United States of America.
"Our experience in Benue State has confirmed that the implementation of the SDGs is a shared responsibility for all stakeholders," he stated.

"The SDGs office is collaborating with mainline Ministries, Departments and Agencies of Government, in implementing activities that will deliver outputs and outcomes aimed at achieving specific SDGs targets."
According to him there was also collaboration between the State, Local Government Authorities, beneficiary communities at the grass roots as well as non-state actors for proper monitoring and evaluation of the implementation of the SDGs.

He assured that his adminstration was committed to ensuring that the implementation of the SDGs moved from visions and plans to concrete actions that would ensure equitable growth, social development and ensuring that no one was left behind.
Governor Ortom noted that the state government previously made considerable progress in the implementation of the Millennium Development Goals ,MDGs, but that two major flaws were noticed.

He said these were failure to integrate the MDGs into several plans of action by successive governments, as well as parallel institutional processes working discordantly towards the same sector objectives.
"To address the inadequacies in the implementation of the MDGs, Benue State Government decided to integrate the SDGs into the 10-year State Development Plan which was recently launched," he stressed.

"The objective is to achieve better collaboration between SDGs office and mainline Ministries, Departments and Agencies of Government, in order to enhance and allow optimal utilization of resources."

Lawmakers today threw caution to the wind as they engaged in a shouting match in the house over the alleged budget padding scandal.

Sacked Chairman of the House committee on Appropriation, Abdulmumin Jibrin had filed a petition before the Police, ICPC, EFCC, alleging that the speaker, Yakubu Dogara, three principal officers and nine other lawmakers, had padded the 2016 budget.

At their plenary today, Speaker Dogara had reportedly given permission to Chairman of the House Committee on Rules and Business, Emmanuel Orker-jev, to speak and during his speech, Orker-jev moved a motion on breach of his privilege and that of the House by Jibrin over his allegations.

At this point, members of the Transparency group who are loyal to Jibrin, stood up and started shouting “No, no, no.” This was immediately countered by Dogara's supporters who also started shouting “Dogara, Dogara” and began distributing green scarves with the inscription “I stand with Dogara".

Late cancer patient, Mayowa Ahmed buried in South Africa.

Cancer patient, Shukurat Mayowa Ahmed, 31, who lost her battle with the dreaded ailment on Sunday, August 21, 2016, in a private hospital in South Africa was said to have been buried in the country, according to Islamic injunction.

An impeccable source disclosed to ENCOMIUM Weekly that the need to bury the remains of Mayowa in South Africa where she finally gave up the ghost was not in any way connected with the inability of her family and those handling her pathetic situation to bring her corpse back to Nigeria as being bandied but largely due to the fact that she was a muslim and there was no need delaying her burial anymore.

“Shukurat Mayowa Ahmed died in South Africa and has since been buried according to muslim rites. Not that there was no money to fly her corpse back to Nigeria. After all, the police have lifted embargo on her bank account to enable the family access enough fund to take care of her and every other expense concerning her. And now that she couldn’t survive the ailment, the best thing is to bury her immediately in South Africa so far she was a Muslim. I think that was what happened. May her soul rest in peace.”

Mayowa was flown to South Africa on Thursday, August 11, 2016, for intensive care after some kind-hearted Nigerians raised about N100 million for her treatment and all. The controversies that trailed the fundraising were settled by the police. But she was reported to have passed on 10 days after.
