Former Sokoto State Governor Attahiru Bafarawa Dumps APC For PDP.

A former Governor of Sokoto State, Attahiru Bafarawa, has defected to the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, from the All Progressives Congress, APC, his aide has said.The Media Assistant to Mr. Bafarawa, Yusuf Dingyadi, disclosed this to the News Agency of Nigeria in Sokoto. He said the former governor decamped with his supporters.Mr. Dingyadi, who was also the state Publicity Secretary of the Bafarawa faction of APC, said that the decision was taken on Saturday after a meeting between Mr. Bafarawa and former Kano State Governor, Ibrahim Shekarau.The spokesperson said the meeting was also attended by the supporters of Mr. Bafarawa in the three parties that merged to form the APC.According to Mr. Dingyadi, the leaders of the former governor’s faction of the APC were asked to go back to the 23 local government areas in the state for further consultation.Mr. Bafarawa was a presidential aspirant of the defunct Action Congress of Nigeria, ACN, one of the parties that merged to form the APC.In his reaction, the state secretary of the Governor Aliyu Wamakko-led APC, Ahmed Aliyu, said it was a welcome development.“It is a good omen for the APC in Sokoto state and at the national level. APC will now be stronger and united.“Bafarawa is afraid of Wamakko. He had since been working for PDP. Only his body was in APC, but his heart was already in the PDP,’’ Mr. Aliyu, who is also the Sokoto Health Commissioner, said.Mr. Wamakko had defected to the APC from the PDP, although his deputy, Mukhtari Shagari, refused to defect.The APC in the state had since been factionalised into two, with two separate state headquarters and different interim state caretaker leaderships.Mr. Wamakko was one of five PDP governors that decamped to the APC. The others are Murtala Nyako of Adamawa, Rotimi Amaechi of Rivers, Abdulfatah Ahmed of Kwara, and Rabiu Kwankwaso of Kano.The governors were made the leaders of the APC in their states, thus displacing the original APC leadership in their respective states, including Mr. Bafarawa in Sokoto and Mr. Shekarau in Kano.

Hawn has since deleted the photo, and Griffin said she has apologized.Griffin called a recent piece of anti-gay legislation signed by Jonathan "terrible.""President Jonathan of Nigeria is one of the most dangerous anti-LGBT leaders that we have in the world today," Griffin said.Griffin said countries with severe anti-gay laws -- like Russia, where the Olympics will take place next month -- have "severe instability." Griffin said anti-gay groups like the National Organization for Marriage have a hand in spreading "hate" to other countries and to leaders like Russian President Vladimir Putin."Some of these leaders, I think, think they can get away with it in their own country without being branded as hateful," Griffin said.He noted that with social media, especially sites like Twitter, anti-gay leaders are now being challenged on a global platform.

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has fixed the presidential and National Assembly elections for February 14, 2015. In the 2015 general elections timetable which INEC released yesterday in Abuja, the commission said they would be followed on February 28 by the governorship and state houses of assembly elections.
In a statement signed by INEC secretary Mrs. Augusta Ogakwu, the commission said the Ekiti State governorship election would hold on June 21, 2014, while the Osun State poll would take place on August 9, 2014.read more

SSS Secures Warrant To Arrest Nasir El Rufai.

The State Security Service, SSS, has finally secured a warrant of arrest for the Deputy National Secretary of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Nasir El-Rufai, and has now launched a manhunt for him, the spokesperson for the agency has said.

  

This is even as armed operatives of the Service again stormed a second house in Abuja believed to belong to the former minister in their desperate bid to arrest him.

SSS Were In El Rufai's House Earlier In The Day.

Men of the State Security Services on Friday paid a visit to the Abuja home of former FCT Minister and Deputy National Secretary of the APC , Nasir El-Rufai.The men had demanded to see El-Rufai whom his security guards said wasn't available at the timeOne of the security guards told TVC News that the SSS agents first came as early as seven in the morning, demanded to see El-Rufai and left after some minutes.

He said they came back later in the afternnon and stayed for about two hours after initially attempting to force open the locked gates
