Lagos Area Boys Celebrate Democracy Day With Beer From Ill-Fated Lorry [Photos]

Area boys in Oshodi Lagos state had a fruitful Democracy, as they celebrated the day with beer from ill-fated lorry that was transporting crates of Goldberg beer. The Area boys went into frenzy when the vehicle lost its footing and letting off a huge amount of its content by the roadside.
Despite that the unfortunate incident happened around the office of the National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control, the area boys started pounding on other bottles that were unbroken as they selectively picked for themselves among the ruins on the sidewalk of road.
As the merriment continued, with some of them drinking more than five bottles, shouts of Up Democracy Day and other street slangs soon raided the air while few of them drank to stupor.
They were however appreciative as they showed good gestures by helping in the clearing of the debris and gathering of crates which were later taken into the lorry.

Fashola Unveils Adopted Athletes In Lagos.

IT was pomp and pageantry Thursday as Governor of Lagos State, Babatunde Raji Fashola unveiled 57 athletes who have been adopted by sponsors in the Adopt-A-Talent Sports Programme
The unveiling ceremony, which was held at the auditorium of the Governor’s Office in Alausa, Ikeja was attended by dignitaries, who included the Deputy Governor Adejoke Orelope Adefulire, the Chief of Staff, Lanre Babalola, Sports Commissioner, Wahid Oshodi, Chairman, House Committee on Youth, Sports and Social Development, Lawrence Babatunde Ayeni, members of the state’s Executive Council, sponsors and parents of the athletes.

Interesting, Governor Fashola is one of the adoptees, who adopted 20 of the athletes; deputy governor adopted 10, Chief of Staff, Babalola, and Sports Commissioner, 2 athletes in table tennis.

Speaking at the ceremony, Governor Fashola called on Nigerians to come out to invest in the future of other athletes, who have not been adopted, adding that the future of Nigerian sports can only be built on young athletes that are tapped at their tender ages.

“The bane of Nigerian sports is fixation on immediate result which doesn’t last and I believe Nigeria doesn’t need to cheat to do well in sports. That is why Adopt-A-Talent Sports Programme is a futuristic project designed to develop the talent of our young athletes and the same time give them the chance to excel in their academic pursuit,” said Fashola.

Senior Special Assistant on Grassroots Sports to the Governor, Prince Wale Oladunjoye, who heads the Management Committee of the programme said, “the Adopt-A-Talent Sports Programme was initiated by Governor Fashola in 2010 with six sports, namely, Athletics, Basketball, Boxing, Football, Table Tennis and Volleyball.

“The stable has grown to 10 with the addition of some multi medal sports such as Swimming, Judo, Karate and Gymnastics. It is from these 10 sports that the talents being unveiled today were selected after very rigorous screening and trials.”

He disclosed at the last National Sports Festival tagged: Eko 2012, all the six medals; 3 gold, 2 silver and 1 bronze medals won by Lagos State in athletics were secured by some of the athletes of the Adopt-A-Talent Sports Programme.

Sports Commissioner, Oshodi said the project provides an effective system of funding, nurturing and developing young athletes, thus giving them the platform to be the best they can be and maximise their God given talents.

Governor Jang And 15 Other Governors Commission Parallel NGF Office.

The cracks in the Nigerian Governors’ Forum (NGF) got wider yesterday, with 15 members lining behind Plateau State helmsman Jonah Jang as he opened the secretariat of his faction.
Jang lost the Forum’s chairmanship to Rivers State Governor Chibuike Amaechi by 16 votes to 19 in last Friday’s election but claimed victory. He is popularly believed to have been the President’s candidate, despite Dr. Goodluck Jonathan’s insistence that he had no interest in the election.
At the ceremony in Abuja were: Idris Wada (Kogi); Emmanuel Uduaghan (Delta); Martin Elechi (Ebonyi); Olusegun Mimiko (Ondo); Mukhtar Yero (Kaduna); Liyel Imoke (Cross River) and Ibrahim Shema (Katsina).
Others are: Theodore Orji (Abia); Peter Obi (Anambra); Steve Lawani Deputy Governor (Benue); Godswill Akpabio (Akwa Ibom); Isa Yuguda (Bauchi); Seriake Dickson (Bayelsa); Garba Umar (Taraba acting governor); and Deputy Governor of Gombe State.
Jang cut the tape to open the secretariat building tucked in a serene environment in Maitama District.
Shortly after the ceremony, the governors moved into the building where they held a meeting that lasted about two hours.
Jang told reporters after the meeting that the need to move the secretariat of the NGF from the Rivers State Governor’s Lodge informed the acquisition of the new secretariat.
The governor added that his faction was making moves to unite all the 36 governors and bring them under a single umbrella of the NGF under his leadership.

Also speaking after the meeting, Dickson said the faction would ensure that the NGF is insulated from adversarial politics.

According to him, the Forum would no longer be made to antagonise President Goodluck Jonathan; neither would it be used for personal aggrandisement as it used to be.

He flayed what he described as the grandstanding of the NGF under Amaechi.

The Deputy Chairman of the Subsidy Reinvestment and Empowerment Programme (SURE-P), Major-General Mamman Tsoho Kontagora (rtd) is dead.
He was a former military administrator of the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja, during the regime of General Abdulsalami Abubakar.
General Kotangora was also the Sole Administrator of the Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria and Chairman of the Presidential Committee on the Development of National Stadia for the World Youth Soccer Championship in 1995.
He was also a minister of works during the regime of Ibrahim Babangida.

Owner Of Amigo Supermarket And Wonderland Amusement Park Abuja ,Fauzi Fawad Linked To Terrorism.

Nigerian security agencies have linked a co-owner of two major ongoing businesses in the nation’s capital as a ring leader in a major terrorist operation in the country.
In a statement by the spokesman of the Joint Task Force in Kano, Ikedichi Iweha, Fauzi Fawad, the co-owner of Amigo Supermarket and Wonderland Amusement Park, was named as a member of a Lebanese Hezbollah terrorist cell in Nigeria.
Wonderland is Abuja’s biggest and most popular amusement park, while Amigo is one of the largest supermarkets in the Nigerian capital.
The JTF said Mr. Fawad’s name was mentioned by “all those arrested,” for being in possession of heavy weapons, and other terrorism related activities.
Mr. Fawad is now on the run, the JTF said.
The JTF said it arrested three Lebanese suspected of owning the large cache of arms recovered at a bunker in the city.
The Brigade Commander, 3rd Brigade, Nigerian Army, Iliyasu Abba, said one of the suspects was arrested on Tuesday at a house on Gaya Road in Bompai area of Kano.
He said another suspect was arrested in Abuja while the third suspect was apprehended since May 16, at Aminu Kano International Airport, on his way to Beirut, Lebanon.
“The one arrested at Malam Aminu Kano International Airport had a sum of 60,000 US dollars in his possession”.
He said one Abdullahi Hassan Tahir Padalla, who was the owner of the house in which one of the suspect was arrested was still at large.
Mr. Abba said among the weapons discovered during the operation on Tuesday were 17 AK 47 rifles, 44 magazines, four land mines and 12 RPG bombs, 14 RPG charger, 11 66 mm anti-tanks weapons, one SMG magazine, one pistol and magazine.
Also, 11, 433 rounds of 7.26 mm special, 76 hand grenade, rocket propelled guns, 122 calibre artillery and anti mines weapons were recovered.
“What you are seeing here are weapons of mass destruction in terms of our situation here right now in Nigerian.
“If these things have been brought out only God knows the type of destruction they will cause to innocent persons in the state or in the country,’’ he said.
He said the Department of State Security Service (SSS) in Abuja had been investigating the case for long.
In a remark, the state Director of the SSS, Bassey Ettang, said that the three suspects had a link to the Hezbollah group in Lebanon.
He said the suspects have for a long time been using the bunker in the house to stockpile arms and ammunition.
He restated the commitment of the SSS and other security agencies to continue with the ongoing war on criminals nationwide.

On 28 May 13 a combined team of the JTF involving the NA of the 3 Brigade here in Kano and the Kano state DSS conducted a thorough search of this house located at No 3 Gaya Road off Bompai Road Kano belonging to one Abdul Hassan Taher Fadlalla a Lebanese national who is currently out of the country. After painstaking search of the whole premises, the search team uncovered an underground bunker in the the master bed room where a large quantity of assorted weapons of different types and caliber were recovered.
The bunker was specially constructed for this purpose. It is worth mentioning to say that the weapons include anti tank weapons, rocket propelled guns, anti tank/anti personnel mines among other dangerous weapons.
All the weapons and ammunition recovered were properly concealed with several layers of concrete and placed in coolers, drums and bags neatly wrapped.
These discoveries were not accidental but the outcome of an ongoing robust counter terrorism investigation by the Department of the State Services Abuja in the past several months. The investigation also confirms the existence of a Hizbullah Foreign Terrorist Cell in Nigeria. Consequently, the DSS on 16 May 2013 arrested one Mustapha Fawaz the co-owner of the popular Amigo Supermarket as well as the wonderland Amusement Park all in Abuja. Thus, his arrest and confession unveiled other members of the foreign terrorists network which led to the interception of one member of the syndicate named Abdullah Tahini a Lebanese national at the Mallam Aminu Kano International Airport with undeclared amount of sixty thousand United States Dollars on him enroute Beirut. Thereafter on 26 May 2013 one Talal Roda also a Lebanese with Nigerian Passport was arrested in this same house.
All those arrested have confessed to have undergone Hizbullah terrorist training and further implicated one Fauzi Fawad, also a co-owner of Amigo Supermarket and wonderland Amusement Park. However, the fellow is now at large. The arms and ammunition were targeted at facilities of Israel and Western interest in Nigeria, however, the security agencies are making frantic efforts to unveil the true situation. At the end of investigation, all those involved will be prosecuted.

Nick and Wendy Lowe were married at the Wellington Naturist Club on Saturday in a "clothing optional" wedding, reported local newspaper The Dominion Post. About half of the 120 guests were Unclad. Both clothed and Unclad photos were taken, and though guests were asked to dress for dinner, the dancing portion of the event was clothing optional.
Nick encouraged Wendy to embrace the "naturism," or nudist, lifestyle six years ago.

"It was one of the first things he said to me: 'I'm a naturist, how do you feel about it?' I knew at some point I'd have to at least try it," Wendy said.

BREAKING NEWS: Nigerian lawmakers Order Immediate Suspension Of $40 Million Internet Surveillance Contract.

The House ordered an investigation of the contract award.
The House of Representatives has ordered the immediate suspension of the $40 million (N6 billion) internet surveillance contract awarded secretly by the Nigerian government to an Israeli firm.
A house resolution approved Thursday, said no further action should be taken on the controversial spy project, which has sparked national fury, until three house committees complete an investigation in three weeks.
The clandestine project, exposed by PREMIUM TIMES, was awarded by the Jonathan administration to Elbit Systems, an Israeli Info tech firm, to spy on millions of Nigerian internet users. It is seen as part of the government's widened clampdown on free media, and unrestrained use of the internet to attack government officials and policies.
But the authorities, which have not officially commented on the contract despite its extensive attention, passed the project off as an intelligence gathering effort in the face of growing insecurity and fundamentalist threat.
In a motion initiated by Ibrahim Gusau, the House said the project will infringe on the privacy of Nigerians and argued that the so-called intelligence gathering, "may not be the solution" to the nation's security troubles.
The House also questioned the secrecy surrounding the contract award, which lawmakers agreed violated federal financial regulations relating to contract awards, as stipulated in the Fiscal Responsibility Act 2007.
Three committees, namely, Information and Computer Technology, Human Rights, and National Security, are to conduct inquiry into the project and make its findings known in three weeks.

Female Activists Arrested For Holding Topless Protest Outside The Court In Ukraine.

Three feminist activists have been arrested for holding a topless demonstration outside a court today in protest against the jailing of a Tunisian member of Ukrainian feminist group FEMEN.
FEMEN activist Amina Tyler, 19, was arrested at another protest against Islam's treatment of women earlier this month after she sparked outrage across Tunisia by posting topless pictures of herself online.
